On November 23, 2023, Professor Osama Kaddour, the Dean of theFaculty of Fish Resources at Suez University in Egypt, visited Shanghai Ocean university for a symposium. The reception was taken by Chen Zaizhong, Vice-Dean of the College of the Fisheries and Life Sciences, Zhu Jiangfeng, Vice-Dean of the College of Marine Sciences, Wang Fang, Vice-Dean of the College the Engineering Science and Technology, and Zhu Zhanghua, Dean of the College of International Cultural Exchange. The meeting was hosted by Shi Jiayi, the Vice-Director of the International Student Admission Office at the College of International Cultural Exchange.

2023 "Wang Baohe Cup" National River Crab Competition
Officially kicked off at the Wang Baohe Hotel in Shanghai
To the citizens of Shanghai and consumers across the country
Presenting another hairy crab feast and cultural feast.

This competition was jointly organized by Shanghai Ocean University and Shanghai Wangbaohe Hotel Co., Ltd. for the 13th time. More than 2800 river crabs were selected from 120 units in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Shandong, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, and other places to compete for the annual "Oscar Award" in the national river crab industry.

Chinese calligraphy, "shūfǎ" (书法) in Chinese, is a highly regarded art form that has a history spanning over thousands of years. It is not only a means of writing and communication but also a form of artistic expression deeply rooted in Chinese culture.

The creation of Chinese calligraphy involves the use of a brush, ink, paper, and inkstone. The brush, typically made of animal hair, is held in a specific way to produce different types of strokes. Ink is ground on an inkstone with water to create the desired consistency. The calligrapher carefully controls the amount of ink to achieve varying shades of darkness and dynamic effects in their writing.

我与中国的美丽邂逅（24）：从初识的温暖到相知的热爱（海洋科学学院俄罗斯留学生思维达）

——意外的相遇——
小时候的我很喜欢绘画，母亲得知我的兴趣爱好后，便常带我一起去博物馆与美丽的地方转转。那时候的我，为了亲眼看到由凯瑟琳大帝建造的中风格村，曾去参观普希金（俄罗斯小城市）的沙皇村 ，亚历山德罗夫斯基花园，而我所出生的圣彼得堡，是西北俄罗斯第二个大城市，离中国有7～8千公里的距离，那时候的我不知道关于中国这个国家的一切，但当我第一次看到中国古代建筑时，我就被深深震撼到了，从此我便开始对亚洲、对东方萌发了浓厚的兴趣。

——从相遇到相知——
虽然我了解过很多有关东方的文化的文本、文化特色、生活习惯等等，但是我却始终没有信心开始中国语言的学习，因为那时的我只是大概能分辨出哪些文字是中文，哪些是日文或者韩文，大概知道每个语言的特色，但我认为自己突然准备着手借助东方外语说和写，是根本不可能完成的事情。首先是缘于其复杂性，其次中国语言与我的母语在各方面都有很大的差异。然而，我的父亲却很想鼓励我去尝试和挑战这件事情，又恰好在我们城市的一所语言学校将要举行一场免费的“第一节课”活动，因此我便在"Иероглиф"学校开启了我人生中的第一门中文课。 在这节课中我对中国汉字产生了非常浓厚的兴趣与热情。我发现原来大部分汉字都有属于自己的逻辑，每个汉字就像一个个加密图儿，在了解到它里面各个小部分的意义，也许就能猜对整个汉字表达的整体意义。我不禁感叹道:“这是多么神奇啊!”从那之后我便喜欢上了中文，于是我跟父亲说我想继续在那个外语学校学习，他笑着同意了。之后的一两年里，我每周都要抽出两次课后时间坐火车去到另外一个离我家比较远的市区上汉语课。我慢慢成为了那个汉语班里的第一名，可是这样一直位于榜首的日子让我觉得有点无聊、没有挑战，所以我开始寻找一些难度更大、进度更快、课程内容更丰富、并且可以准备汉语考试的学校。一得知关于孔子学院的信息，我便决定换到那里，去那边跟年龄更大的人一起学习。去到那边后，我很快发现中文并不简单，并且随着学习中文的时间越长，中文越发不简单。我不再是班里的第一名，但是我全身都能感觉到我的进步飞速，并且和“孔子”的关系更加紧密。因为差不多世界上的每个国家都有孔子学院，并且那里会跟中国一起举办很多面向学习中文的外国人的活动，所以一有机会我就跟其他学生一起去了中国夏令营。我们参观了万里长城、故宫、颐和园等一些名胜古迹，并且在大连停留了很长一段时间。在参加冬季夏令营前我跟我的父母还一起去了海南三亚度假。这两次旅游都让我领略到了中国风光、中国人的热情好客以及中国的美食。回家之前，我意识到除了语言之外，我还喜欢上了这个国家，如果有机会，我想在这儿继续学习或者工作。过了一段时间，机会来了……

——疫情与复生——
高中的时候大家都开始考虑关于自己的未来，包括选择大学、考的课程、准备高考等等。那时候的我已经决定好了去中国读书，为了不浪费我学习中文的那段时间，也为了汲取到新的专业知识，同时再次提高自己的中文水平。我选好了自己感兴趣的方向及奖学金后便开始找大学。可是当我差不多全部了解好了以后，意料之外地，全世界爆发了Covid-19。我的中国留学计划居然变得超级模糊了，并且我各方面的压力都变大了。我马上就要高中毕业了，而世界疫情的情况并没有变好，反而变得越来越严重。我太倒霉了。我忧郁到开始天天看疫情新闻，试着坚持下去并希望它马上就结束，可是它仍在继续……同时我还要每天在下课之后戴着口罩跑去其他市区付钱办理大学要的文件、再付钱把它翻译过来。慢慢地我感觉我的梦想要失败了，我的心态变得特别差，我快要放弃了，我不敢相信中国有一天能变得跟疫情前一样，也不敢相信它会在某天打开边境。过了一段时间，我的所有文件都办好了、提交了，我被上海海洋大学录取了。那天之后我开始坚信没有疫情的世界一定会回来的。但是因为我不知道疫情到底什么时候能结束，我就先同意当预科生，在线上上学。一年之后疫情才慢慢开始变好，但是中国边境还是没有打开。我感觉本来就很远的中国变得更远了，因为我根本没办法过去那边。但是有一天边境突然开了，并且几天之后我收到了我国教育部发送的关于航行信息与机票价格的电子邮件，并且收到了“您打不打算这时候去中国？”的电子询问。我高兴地快喘不过气了，立刻给妈妈打电话说了这个新闻，然后在询问页面里选好“打算”这两个字。我收拾好了行李箱，花一万多元买了从莫斯科到哈尔滨的机票（那时候还算比较便宜，因为去中国的航班差不多根本没有），向父母、亲戚、朋友告别，这辈子第一次一个人戴着口罩坐飞机去到另一个国家，并且先在哈尔滨中转，再到上海隔离。
大一毕业之前疫情终于完全结束了，街道恢复了以往热闹的样子，而我也在半年多的时间里慢慢适应了当地的生活，去到了更多美丽的地方，交了新的中国和外国朋友。现在的我是一名大二的19岁的本科生。虽然我仍是一个没有经验的青年，但我感觉我已经经历过了很多事情。虽然不是所有事情都是好事，但是它们并不影响我对中国的尊重、热爱与兴趣。希望我们国家之间的合作也越来越好！

Recently, Associate Professor Xue Bin of the School of Food Science of Shanghai Ocean University and Professor Chao Wang of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of Johns Hopkins University published a research article entitled COelectroreduction on single-atom copper in the journal Science Advances. Associate Professor Xue Bin is one of the co-first authors of the paper, and Shanghai Ocean University is one of the cooperative units. This paper is the scientific research result obtained by Associate Professor Xue Bin during his visiting scholar in the United States from 2019 to 2020. Xue Bin, master supervisor, member of the innovation team of high-level local universities of "high-quality utilization of aquatic products" and member of the plateau discipline team of "Food Science and Engineering", has long been engaged in the application of inorganic materials in food quality and safety.
In the synthesized composite of polymer carbon nitride and copper, copper species exist in the form of atomic-level high dispersion, and copper coordinates on carbon nitride substrate to form a high-density copper-nitrogen group. Unlike the known Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism on copper surfaces, the adsorption restriction of carbon monoxide at the copper monatomic position enables carbon-carbon coupling between adsorbed carbon monoxide and gaseous carbon monoxide molecules to become an Eley-Rideal type. In addition, the relative stability of different carbon atom intermediates after carbon-carbon coupling at the single-atom copper site was determined, which explains their higher selectivity for acetate compared to other hydrocarbons containing two carbon atoms. This work demonstrates the great potential of single-atom electrocatalysts for the development of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide reduction electrocatalysts other than copper metal.
