Our Summer Session students had a great time exploring the grounds of the Prague Castle yesterday evening. With fewer tourists around, there are more opportunities for great photos...and more time to learn about some historical fun facts. We offer this tour throughout the year, so if you're coming to study, be sure to join us!

Remember to register by March 13th to join us for a weekend trip (April 13-16) to Budapest focused on culture, history, and politics. As Hungary’s capital, Budapest is citied as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe full of incredible art galleries, museums, geothermal springs, gorgeous landmarks, and important historical monuments. The itinerary for this trip promises a weekend that will allow you to experience all Budapest has to offer:

• Thursday: Arrive in Budapest for a free evening to explore
• Friday: Jewish quarter tour, the Central Market hall, lunch, guided tour of Parliament, St. Stephen Basilica  
• Saturday: the Historical metro, Heroes´square, free time for lunch, Széchenyi thermal spa
• Sunday: free time, afternoon departure by train back to Prague

Total cost: 8000 CZK (approx.$359)

Interested in taking the trip of a lifetime with us? Register by Sunday to join us as we venture to Poland to experience three key historical sites. It’s happening March 17-19 and the itinerary will be as follows:

• Thursday Night: Take an overnight bus to Poland
• Friday: A morning tour of the former N**i extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, then a free afternoon in the beautiful city of Kraków •Saturday: A guided tour of Krakow in the morning with a local guide, with another free afternoon to explore (and eat delicious, affordable Polish food!)
• Sunday: After checking out at 8:30, we will visit the famous Salt mines of Wieliczka and then head back to Prague

The total cost for this highly-immersive trip is about $291.73, which includes a guided tour of Auschwitz, Wieliczka salt mines, and Krakow in addition to daily breakfast, 2 nights in a hotel, and private bus transportation.

RFE/RL was established at the beginning of the Cold War to transmit news and information to audiences behind the Iron Curtain. Today, it serves as a source of free press in 23 countries where information is either banned by government authorities, or not fully developed.

Missed out on the first Prague Castle tour last week? Luckily, Imogen decided to host an additional tour tomorrow at 19:00 (7:30pm). Come along and explore the lives of the saints, dukes, kings and presidents who have made Prague Castle their home and have shaped its history through the ages. Tour highlights include:
• The history of the St. Vitus Cathedral
• The Golden Gate & the stunning Last Judgement mosaic
• The 15th century Royal Palace
• The Basilica of St. George

Please register by the end of the day and join us tomorrow at 19:00 (7pm) in room 429 to watch a screening of "Fighter". This award-winning documentary follows the life of Zuzana's late-husband, Jan Wiener, and his friend, Arnošt Lustig, before and during WWII.

Together, these two Jewish men return to Europe to revisit the past. Fighter explores the nature of truth, memory, the complexity of friendship, and the way different personalities adjust to different situations. This is a unique and complex documentary that is fascinating, surprisingly humorous at moments, and heartbreaking.
