Beautiful words arrived in our inbox this morning, and we are grateful.
Che wai Chan has enriched and inspired our academic community with his enthusiasm for knoweldge, curiosity, his friendship and most importantly, his humility. We learn so much from our students. Thank you, dear Che wai! 🎓
"After having taught Chinese History for 37 years, I started another two years’ study life in the Master´s program in Extended Ecumenical Studies at the University of Bonn. During the study, I opened my eyes and broadened my horizon, both to my life, and more importantly to my belief. It was rewarding to learn with theologians, lectures and classmates from different countries who had broad vision, profound academic ability, and open-mindedness.
The program in Ecumenical Studies at the University of Bonn is truly open, inclusive and inspiring. The diversified courses provided are informative and liberating. Lecturers and classmates studied together and inspired each other. Despite people with different cultures, different beliefs and denominational traditions, there were no dogmatic hindrances in the discussion of faiths and biblical knowledge. When communicating with different faith traditions, we put aside prejudice and hostility and showed true respect to each other.
In these unforgettable years of studying and living in Bonn, my wisdom and stature, as well as my love for God and people, have really grown together.
Honestly, I especially love the Bonners, the hills and rivers of Germany. Walking along the Rhine River, getting along with the people was not only my greatest pleasure every day, but also a mediation to the amazing bestowal of God.“
(Che wai, Chan, Hong Kong)
Way to go, University of Bonn! 😊
