Our (not so) small WASHLET, which is usually found in our showroom, has been accompanying our colleagues on holidays and trips around the world for a few weeks now.

This image was taken in Athens, by the Acropolis in front of the Roman Agora, a marketplace and meeting place that dates to around 10BC. It is located near to the Tower of the Winds and a set of vespasianae (public toilets). We thought it was apt🚽

The small bathroom and guest toilet solution: the RP Compact Toilet 🚽

Thanks to its shorter projection, this model is perfect as a compact solution that does not compromise on cleanliness and design.

The RP Compact toilet can be combined with an extra-slim toilet seat to form a single visual unit. The seat is made of durable urea resin for lasting stability.

Like all TOTO toilets, the RP Compact is completely rimless, so there is no flushing rim under which dirt and bacteria can accumulate. 👍

Nishisando: A fountain in the city

As part of the TOKYO TOILET PROJECT, international architect Sou Fujimoto designed a public space with access to water - a fountain in the city, so to speak.

The gleaming white, curved building has an open, oval courtyard with hand-washing stations and drinking fountains at different heights that can be used by children, adults, and wheelchair users. With its special design, this public space, named Nishisando, provides a place for people to meet and talk even when they are not using the restroom.

Fujimoto has reinterpreted this traditional concept of a meeting place at an urban watering hole to go beyond the utility of a simple public toilet.

As part of the TOKYO TOILET PROJECT, 17 public toilet facilities have been designed by renowned architects in cooperation with the Shibuya Metropolitan Government, and have been made accessible to everyone through modern planning and innovative design. 👍

The project aims to create a society that embraces all kinds of diversity and allows people of all genders, ages, and physical conditions to use toilets freely and comfortably.

The TOKYO TOILET PROJECT was conceived and financed by Koji Yanai, with TOTO providing advice on the design and subsequent furnishing of the toilets.

The 17 toilets were completed in 2023 and have been managed and maintained by Shibuya City since April this year.

It also has hydrophilic properties, meaning water-loving. By way of an explanation this means the water spreads more easily over the ceramic, allowing dirt to simply slide off the surface and not stick in the first place.

Thanks to the sensor-controlled water jet, TOTO's automatic taps are touch free.
This keeps public washrooms in particular hygienic whilst minimising the risk of bacterial transmission. 👍

The almost imperceptible sensor is located in the spout and is so sensitive that it registers hand movement directly in front of the outlet and can precisely dose the required amount of water. 💧
