Big night tonight! Huge!
Even though Austria put up a good fight against France last night, our funny student Matthias doesn't think they have a chance in the long run 🇦🇹⚽🇫🇷 (This video was recorded before the game last night though!)
Did you watch the Denmark game last night? One of the people cheering along was our cool Danish student Nelia from Ukraine.
In this European Championship, she is cheering for Denmark as well as Ukraine, and in this video she explains why⚽🇩🇰🇺🇦
Are you ready for Euro 2024? ⚽ Tomke certainly is! She is studying Danish at Studieskolen, and she will be watching a lot as she is from Germany - this year's host. And of course she is cheering for Germany to win: "Deutschland vor, noch ein Tor!"🇩🇪
During Euro 2024, we will share many videos of our students from different participating countries talking about football - in Danish, of course - and teaching you how to cheer in their language. We wish everyone a great Euro 2024!
So it begins...
From today and for the next couple of weeks, a lot of you are taking your oral exams with us.
We wish you all the best of luck!
Make sure you use your vote in the upcoming European elections!🇪🇺 🇩🇰🗳️

PS. We should clarify that pirates can vote too, as long as they are EU citizens 🏴☠️
Almost 1000 people chose to take Indfødsretsprøven with Studieskolen 📝
That makes us the largest provider by far in all of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.
We conducted most of the tests in the sports halls at Frederiksberghallerne (you can see one of them in this picture).
Medborgerskabsprøven and Indfødsretsprøven are two very important tests used as part of the application for respectively permanent residency and citizenship in Denmark.
The tests are only held twice a year. Here at Studieskolen, we are immensely proud and happy that so many of you have shown us confidence and trust by choosing to take your test with us.
It was lots of fun having our first 'running sightseeing' event - thanks to all who showed up and ran 4 km all while taking in Copenhagen's sights.
Our running Danish teacher Sara promises to do it again 🤪👟👟
All the big tests are over - for now at least ✍️
More than 1100 of you signed up to take a Danish test with us this week!
Well done to everyone who completed the written parts of PD1, PD2, PD3 and Studieprøven.
Have a nice rest this weekend - you deserve it!
Don't be alarmed! 📢📢
Matthias Parchettka explains what will happen on 1 May:
Rock'n'roll at Studieskolen 🤘🎤
Big thanks to Mohammadreza, Charlotte, Mark, Brooke, Austin, Bent, Malcolm and everyone else who came and performed and listened at our poetry and music night on Monday 🎵🎸
This time round, we also tried something new - fællessang (a singalong). It was a huge hit and we're already looking forward to the next one!
Qasim Shaikh appointed as new Managing Director 🎉
It is a pleasure to announce that starting 1 August 2024, the new Managing Director of Studieskolen will be the current vice-director, Qasim Shaikh.
The appointment has been made after a solid and thorough recruitment process.
There were many truly strong candidates for the position, and we received assistance from a recruitment agency to ensure that everything went smoothly - even in the situation we are now in, where a unanimous appointments committee ultimately chose an internal candidate.
As the chairman of the appointments committee, Nikolaj Lubanski, said, sometimes you have to look out into the world to realise that you have what you need right next to you.

A very happy Eid to all our students who celebrate it 🌙🥘🤗
In Danish, Eid is simply called 'eid', but it is written in lower-case, just like other holidays are in Danish 😊
🐣 Easter is over for this year, but there are plenty more holidays coming this spring. Unsure when they are - and why and how we celebrate them? 🗓️🍞🎁
Read our latest blog post and all will become clear!
https://www.studieskolen.dk/en/danish/blog/danish-holidays
Easter is coming! Over the next few days, we will be closed and you will be busy eating chocolate eggs 🍫🥚
There will be no classes from 28 March to 1 April, and our offices will also be closed.
We open as usual again on 2 April.
We wish you a very happy Easter! 🐰🐣
Did you know that 'gækkebreve' are a unique Danish tradition? And they're not just for kids - you can make them too!
See how in this new cartoon from Matthias Parchettka, and please reply in the comments with your favourite rhyme for a 'gækkebrev' - in Danish or English!
Shooting an international documentary at Studieskolen 🎥💃
Yesterday, we had a visit from an American film crew following Angelina Usanova - Miss Ukraine - as she travels around Europe and meets other Ukrainians who have had to create a new life away from their homeland.
Since 2022, Studieskolen has facilitated intensive English courses for Ukrainians. This is made possible with funds from Aid Ukraine Denmark. In this way, Ukrainians in Denmark can quickly integrate into the workforce and settle here.
Our students and English teachers Wynn and Svitlana (who is Ukrainian herself) were enthusiastic about showcasing how an English lesson can take place.
Tara Klarlund Hogan, head of the English department at Studieskolen, and Mette Wibeck Olsen from Aid Ukraine (last picture), ensure the continued strong collaboration on English for Ukrainians.
And of course, we will let you know when the documentary is ready!
Conversation partners across languages and generations 🗨️💬
Romy and Hedda met at Studieskolen. Romy is 36 years old and from Germany. She has been living in Denmark for 4 years with her German husband.
Hedda is 80 years old and Danish. She has always had a passion for languages, and currently she's learning Greenlandic at Studieskolen.
Two years ago, Romy passed Prøve i Dansk 3 (PD3), but she wanted to improve her Danish-speaking skills even further. At Studieskolen, she tried language coaching, where as a student, you receive individual guidance on your language learning process. Romy told her language coach that Danish culture was mostly something she knew in theory because it was difficult to interact with Danes in everyday life. The language coach offered to help her find a good Danish conversation partner.
This is where Hedda came into the picture.
They were matched with each other through Studieskolen's language coach because they share many common interests, and luckily, they've found that they also get along well as friends.
Now, Hedda and Romy have been conversation partners for a year. They meet about once a week and discuss articles in Weekendavisen which they both read beforehand. And they also enjoy going out together in the city if, for example, there's an exciting movie or exhibition.
At Studieskolen, we say that languages open doors, and Romy and Hedda are a great example of that. A friendship that arose because of language ❤️
Shine bright like a diamond ♢💎♢
Some shots from our recent excursion to Denmark's impressive national library, known as The Black Diamond (Den Sorte Diamant).
A big thanks to all our engaged students for a great tour, and to our wonderful guide Delta who really managed to convey the majesty and history of the place!
Have a wonderful weekend ☀️☀️
This Friday is International Women's Day - "Kvindernes Internationale Kampdag" 👩🎨✊
If you speak German, you can join us for a talk about the German artist Paula Modersohn-Becker that day.
But however you celebrate it - have a great day!

Up close and personal with Danish democracy 🗳️
When you learn Danish at Studieskolen, you not only learn the language. You also learn about Danish society, history and culture.
For that reason, we have lots of free events for our Danish students where they can experience different aspects of Danish society.
Last week, some of you got to visit Denmark's parliament, Christiansborg, and hear about the history of Denmark's democracy and constitution as well as walk the corridors of power!
This event was fully booked, and we hope to repeat it in the future. Thanks to all our students who came, our Danish teacher Snezana and our excellent guide, Kim!
Studieskolen’s Managing Director is stepping down this summer 🏫
The Managing Director of Studieskolen, Charlotte Lorenzen, has chosen to step down from her position this summer. Instead, Charlotte will be working with management consulting and organisational development.
Therefore, we are now looking for a new Managing Director to take up the position no later than 1 August.

It was great to visit DTU to talk about free Danish Education at Studieskolen 🎓
We wish all you students at DTU the best of luck with your studies, and we hope to see a lot of you for Danish classes, workshops and special events!
Thank you to our talented and brave students who performed at last night's poetry and music event 🤘👩🎤
In these photos, you can see Latissa, Muhammed, Malcolm, Sean, Brooke and our Danish teachers Bent and Sara. We didn't catch the name of you in picture number 2 - let us know and we will mention it 🤩🎸
It was awesome to hear and see you all and we hope to do it again 🎤
Do you have hidden - or not so hidden - talents? 🎸
Then join us next Monday for an evening of creativity 🎭
You can perform a piece of music or a poem. You are also welcome to simply come and watch the performances.
Together, we will create a creative and social space.

🇩🇰 This weekend, Denmark gets a new king and queen - welcome Frederik and Mary! 🇩🇰
👑 If you are following along with all the events, here are the most important words you need to know.
👑 The hardest one is probably 'tronskifte', which literally means 'change of throne'. Do you know what to call that in another language?

Danish with a difference
At Studieskolen, we pride ourselves on providing language learning with a difference.
Our students learn faster
When you join a class at Studieskolen, you will be part of a group of students who have all taken or are taking higher level education, speak a language other than their mother tongue, speak English and have a good understanding of grammar.
When all the students have this in common, everyone learns better and faster.
