Introducing the newcomer in town - Taiwaya Thai Restaurant! 🌶️🍜🇹🇭

This week, I had the amazing opportunity to sit down with the culinary maestro, Chef Atikhun Kakaew, the leader behind Taiwaya, a brand-new restaurant that opened its doors just two months ago.

This place is a flavor fusion adventure, serving up authentic Northern and E-san Thai cuisine with a delightful twist of influence in every dish.

Chef Atikhun graciously shared his remarkable journey with me, spanning nearly a decade as a chef in , including a prestigious stint as a master chef at the 5-star Radisson Collection Hotel in .

He revealed that his inspiration for Taiwaya grew from the deep roots of his family's heritage in North and Northeastern .

His goal is to introduce the world to the incredible flavors of Northern and E-san cuisine. What's more, he's added a dash of Japanese culinary finesse, personally loving the art of cooking.

With a background from his home cuisine, he creates a gastronomic medley that not only tastes amazing but looks fantastic too. Although the primary ingredients are Thai, there's a sprinkling of other elements in some dishes.

👨🏻‍🍳 Chef Atikhun enthusiastically presented some of his top menu picks. Take, for example:

🍚 Khaopad Man Nuea Khai D**g - Beef fried rice with a cured egg yolk. He uses Japanese rice, and an egg yolk cured using Thai fish sauce, soy sauce, and a dash of chili for that extra kick.

🥩His next favorite is Lin Wua Yang - Grilled beef tongue in Thai herbs with spicy tamarind sauce. He raved about the tender beef tongue and the Jaew Sauce E-san side dip, which complements the sweet and sour flavors to perfection. Plus, it's served with an egg yolk cured in Japanese style for a harmonious experience.

🍜And now, the grand finale – Khao Soi Mueang Nuea, a Yellow Soup Curry with Noodles. Chef Atikhun likened it to enjoying ramen in Japan, but with a Northern Thai style, you can choose chicken, beef, or seafood to go with it as you like. In my humble opinion, this dish not only looks exciting but tastes just as amazing. I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try – it's a tasty, heartwarming delight that brings the full, rich flavors of curry to spice up your day.

As we wrapped up our chat, Chef Atikhun disclosed that Taiwaya is still in its infancy, and in the coming years, they plan to offer classic Thai favorites and a wider range of delectable dishes. When I asked him about his vision for Taiwaya in five years, he flashed a confident smile and said,

"I envision more Taiwaya restaurants opening up and expanding to meet the growing demand. I also aim to make the Taiwaya brand a household name, recognized by food enthusiasts far and wide."

My conversation with Chef Atikhun was a delightful experience. His food is a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavor, generously portioned, and, above all, a feast for the eyes. It's evident that every item on his menu is carefully curated, suitable for , , or a special occasion.

Last night, the football match between Team and Team ended in a thrilling 1-1 draw. It was a fantastic game, filled with excitement and unity. Thai local supporters and the Embassy of Thailand in Helsinki came together to cheer for their team, and the atmosphere was electric!

PÕNEV ⟩ Tai köök ja kultuur vallutavad Balti jaama Laupäeval, 2. septembril toimub Tallinnas Balti Jaama turul Tai toidu- ja kultuurifestival. Terve päeva jooksul saab turu taga asuval platsil proovida maitseteküllast Tai toitu ja kogeda väikest osa kaugel asuva riigi kultuurist.

Balti Jaama turul peeti Tai festivali Tallinnas Balti Jaama turul oli laupäeval tavapärasest eksootilisem. Esmakordselt peeti Tai festivali. Sai süüa Tai toite, lasta end mudida ja ka kuulata taikeelset laulu!

Esmakordselt toimunud Tai toidu- ja kultuurifestival 2023 tõi kokku ootamatult rohke publiku. Balti Jaama Turul toimunud festivali külastajad said nautida ehtsaid ja hõrke Tai maitseid, proovida Tai lõõgastavat massaazi, imetleda Tai rahvariideid ning veel palju muud.
Oleme väga õnnelikud festivali väisanud külastajate üle ja väga tänulikud kõigile, kes olid abiks festivali korraldmamisel.
