Eric Zimmerman, a game designer and author of several books from the US, is giving a workshop on Balancing Unbalanced Systems on Feb 22 at 20:00 in A-402. You are welcome to register through the following link:

TalTech GameCamp is a 2-weekend event where the first weekend (24th of March) you will have workshops hosted by Estonia's most talented game makers. You’ll be able to learn about the game making process, design, audio selection, and much more.

The second weekend (29th to 31st of March) will have a 46-hour long game jam, where you can make the game of your dreams and win prizes alongside that! Estonia's leading developers will be there to guide you on that journey and make the best of your time there. There will also be free snacks and drinks.

You can join whether you are a beginner or experienced; everyone is welcome. Make the first step towards your gamedev career and have a blast of a weekend while doing so.

🎯Spoofy is an engaging online game designed to educate children aged 8-14 about cyber security issues by immersing them in a character-driven experience focused on problem-solving.

🎮Spoofy was officially released in October 2023, featuring versions in Estonian, Russian, English, Danish, Polish and Ukrainian. The game now is free to play on spoofy.ee

DLG Gamelab successfully concluded an industry project centered around cybersecurity awareness for children aged 8-14 Spoofy is an engaging online game designed to educate children aged 8-14 about cyber security issues by immersing them in a character-driven experience focused on problem-solving.

On 10th of January Minister of Culture Heidy Purga invited representatives of the Estonian Video Game Development Industry to jointly find realistic ways to increase the economic impact of this specific sector and to raise Estonia's international visibility and reputation through video games. The Ministry of Culture is drafting a strategic plan for the following one to three years. There were many serious topics discussed.

Lost In Cult is an independent book publisher and design studio based in the UK dedicated to celebrating video games as a culturally significant art form.

In the design and integration of game assets course, the students form small teams and have seven weeks to create a prototype of a casual game with serious or educational elements.

As this year's class will have their game presentations at the end of the month, lets take a look back at some of the games created last year!

Märten Rattasepp is a narrative designer and writer who has worked on such videogames as Disco Elysium, Death and Taxes, and Pentiment, the latter of which received a BAFTA nomination in the Narrative category earlier this year. He also holds an MA in Literature and Theatre Research from the University of Tartu.

In this talk, Märten discussed the process of narrative design for role-playing videogames, touching on both creative aspects such as world-building and character design, as well as practical considerations such as documentation. Using his experience in the game industry as a case study, he also touched on less-discussed aspects such as naming conventions and user experience design for text-heavy games.

Parlamentarium Board Game is a multiplayer strategy board game alternative to the actual European Union Parliament experience physical game where players work together in similar/different parties to draft and pass the legislative process. The board game consists of multiple cards to pass the legislative process. Some cards are such as action cards (the purpose of action cards change the decision through some action), and info cards (the purpose of info cards is to get information about certain events) The minimum number of players who can play the game are two and the maximum number of players can be 4.
