Sarah Reich and Derick Grant will be faculty tap teachers at the Luthier Professional Tap Training Program 2024-2025 in Barcelona!

A native of los Angeles, USA, Sarah is one of the new leaders in tap dancing and has performed, choreographed and taught in over 40 countries. Derick Grant is the recipient of the Princess Grace Award for Upcoming Young Artists as well as the Helen Hayes Award (Washington D.C) for outstanding featured actor for his role in “Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk”.

Hosted by Travis Knights, this year’s screening night will be dedicated to the presentation of the documentary ‘Restorative Culture: Johnathan Morin’

This feature length documentary explores identity and belonging. It focuses on Tap Dancer, Johnathan Morin, raised in foster care, on a journey of self discovery as he balances his love for the African American art form, Tap, with his yearning to know his family’s Indigenous Nehiyaw heritage. In pursuit of his people’s knowledge of music, dance, teachings and community, Johnathan’s world is rocked as he is asked to make a big sacrifice.

Luthier, in collaboration with Chicago Human Rhythm Project, is offering two full scholarships to the tap dancers interested in joining their festival in July 12-21th in Chicago. Closing our lineup with a flourish, get to know more about the great Ruben Sanchez 💥 Super excited to have him with us for one more year!

Rubén Sánchez started working as a professional dancer at the age of 21, with the Barcelona company Camut Band, performing in Hong Kong, Barcelona, Madrid, Italy, The Netherlands, London and Dubai. Since 2007, he has been invited to teach and share his passion for Tap Dance in festivals around the world.

In 2012, started working with Rachid Ouramdane, the director of the Théâtre National de la Danse de Chaillot in Paris, and was part of the shows: Sfumato (2012); Tenir le Temps (2015); Franchir La Nuit (2018) and Variations (2019), that were also performed in South Korea, Germany, France, Russia, Italy and Spain. As guest teacher, was part of the faculty team of important tap festivals such as Tap On Barcelona, Taptastic, Turin Tap Festival, KL Tap Festival, Pilsen Tap Festival, Tip Tap Run, Dance United/Tap United, No Feet Tap Fest, Odessa Tap Festival, among others.

Tap dancer, choreographer, educator and curator from Barcelona. Estefanía is the artistic director and choreographer of her own Dance Company UNUM Project; performer in Camut Band, one of the most renown international tap dance companies; regular faculty member of the Escola Luthier of Barcelona and its Professional Training Program; curator of the Tap Dance Programming at Golem’S, alternative theater of Barcelona; and alumni of the prestigious dance institution Jacob’s Pillow of the United States.

Nowadays, she keeps the work by combining dance education, promotion of the artform in the Barcelona cultural scene and composition of tap dance pieces and new dance fusions with tap dance.

Fruty began his studies as a dancer at the Carmen Senra School in 1999 with Tino Roich. In 2001, he was awarded a scholarship to study in Berlin at the TapaToe school under the supervision of Cristina Delius and Anina Krüger.

During this period he took workshops with renowned dancers such as: Brenda Bufalino, Tomas Marek, Max Pollak, Sebastian Weber and Josh Hilberman. In 2005, he traveled to New York to train in the art of Rhythm Tap.

From 2009 to the present he is a member of the Tap Olé Company, ExhiBeat Company and the main dancer at the Cambuyon Company.
Guest artist at the “Tap Ahead” Festival, Düsseldorf 2009, at the Tap on Barcelona 2010, at the Blue Tap-Festival-Berlin 2012, at the XXIV Reus Tap Festival 2012 and at the Avoriaz Dance Festival ( France) from 2016 to 2019.

Throughout his career he has taught tap dancing at different schools in Madrid, Berlin, France and currently in Barcelona.

Born in Lucca (Italy) Matteo starts dancing at Ballet and Jazz lessons at age 14, later starts Hip Hop, and at the age of 18 discovers Tap Dance.

In 2015 he moves to Barcelona to study at the Professional Tap Dance Program of Escola Luthier, directed by Guillem Alonso, a center in which he is currently a teacher.

In 2018 he receives a scholarship to attend the Tap Dance Freedom formation in New York, led by Andrew Nemr. He is a member of WOODBEATS, directed by Anna Llombart with whom he has performed in theaters such as the Teatre Apollo of Barcelona.

He is also part of different companies such as BARCELONA RHYTHM TAP by Guillem Alonso, the swing dance company JUST A MOOD directed by Aurelien Darbellay and Maria Ferrer, and LA BANDA STREET GROOVE directed by Clara Martinez. Internationally, he has taught both Tap Dance and Body Percussion in countries such as Spain and Italy.

Dancer, creator and teacher of tap dance, graduated in sociology at the University of Barcelona, Laia has been part of and collaborated in different shows and companies such as: Granollers Big Band; Locomotora Negra, Barcelona Rhythm Tap by Guillem Alonso, Djellaba Groove by Roxane Butterfly, Tapeplas by Sharon Lavi, and a duet with pianist Marco Mezquida, among others.

As a pedagogue, she gives regular classes at the Luthier School in Barcelona, ​​and at the Núria Ventura School in St.Celoni, and is also a guest artist at different international events: France, Cuba, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, among others.

Clara Martínez started her artistic studies at the age of 14, studying musical theater at the Escola Coco Comín from 2011 to 2014. Later, she attended the Professional Tap Dance Program at Escola Luthier of Barcelona and in 2019 she was awarded a scholarship for the prestigious American dance institution, Jacob’s Pillow, to join their tap program.

Currently, she is part of UNUM Project tap company directed by Estefanía Porqueras and is a choreographer and director of La Banda, Street Groove. She is also the choreographer of the most recent Dàmaris Gelabert’s show, Mou el Cos and of the project Grow Up Singing. She is a regular tap teacher at Escola Luthier and at Escola Swingcats in Barcelona and has also performed and taught in many countries such as Sweden, Italy, Germany and Brazil.

Bringing even more brilliance to our lineup, we are glad to announce that will be joining us for one more year! With an unique approach, his classes are not to be missed 💥

Sharon Lavi is a Tap artist born in Tel Aviv and currently residing in Barcelona, known for introducing a unique and innovative style of Tap dance choreography and pedagogy. Since 1998 he has been traveling the globe, teaching and performing in different professional platforms in countries such as: Israel, Spain, France, Germany, US, Russia and South Africa. In 2001, he entered Camut Band for which he moved to Barcelona and with whom he continues to dance and create to this day.

His body of work has received international critical praise, has been yearly given official Spanish grants since 2006, and won numerous prizes. Recent awards include Best Choreography within the Spanish 2017 PTMs for Moustache, The Rhythm Musical created and directed by Coco Comin.

Roser Font studied acting, singing and especially dancing: ballet, contemporary, ballroom dancing, musical, hip-hop, jazz and tap. As an actress, dancer and singer participated in the musical Fiddler on the Roof.

As a tap dancer she worked with the Stomp company, performed at the shows Trashtos and Saxtap, was part of the company Els Comediants, of the orchestra La Locomotora Negra and also performed with the well-known flamenco dancer Rafael Amargo.

Since 1999 she is a dancer at Barcelona Rhythm Tap, a company directed by Guillem Alonso and hroughout 2000-02 she was tap soloist and dancer in the successful production Fire of Dance touring around Europe.

Roser is one of the creators and performers of the prestigious company Tap Olé, directed by Guillem Alonso; director, coreographer and dancer of Trakatap; and, also part of the creative and artistic team of the show Boogie Woogie Tap with the well known piano player Lluis Coloma and his trio.

As a leading member of the tap comunity in Barcelona, Roser teaches reguraly at Luthier school in Barcelona, and have taught workshops around the world, being invited to numerous tap festivals around Europe and E.E.U.U.

Rhythm and energy are definitely his business 💥 We are super excited to have Txus Eguilaz one more year with us! Catch his masterclasses during the festival and guarantee a lot of fun and learnings!
Txus is a multidisciplinary artist: percussionist, dancer, actor and educator. He was born in Tudela and completed higher studies in Percussion and Percussion Pedagogy at the Conservatory of Music of Navarra.
In Barcelona he trained as a tap dancer, Irish dance and Lindy Hop. He performs solo with his workshop-show ¡HumoRítmico! and with his show Got Rhythm; co-stars in Olivia & Olivier, a show for the actor-musician duo Majolie D.O.; and is part of the cast of Tap That Beat!, by the tap and percussion company ExhiBeat!

You will be expected to follow a structured work schedule in exchange for specific amount of hours of masterclass and/or residencies.

Brightening up 2024’s Luthier Tap Festival, we are happy to announce as part of our faculty team ✨ Catch her firing up the floor in the thematic classes!

Dominique is an accomplished International Tap dancer, teacher, choreographer, and 2-time World Tap Champion. She started at Bird College Junior School at 15 and earned her ISTD DDE teaching qualifications in Ballet, Tap, and Modern at Deborah Capon College in 2011. Her teaching and choreography flourished at various London dance schools, where she created successful competition and show pieces. In 2019, she enhanced her skills in the professional Tap Programme at the Luthier School in Barcelona, training with some of the biggest names in Tap dance.

Since then, she has performed in various theatre and TV shows, including with the body percussion company “Wood Beats” and tap dance companies “Barcelona Rhythm Tap,” “SABOUR life,” “YAMS”and “La huella Musical.” She co-created the duet show “David and Dominique,” performing across Barcelona and Europe. Dominique is the Tap Lecturer at the Institute of Arts Barcelona and has taught at esteemed festivals and studios worldwide, including the Stockholm Tap Festival, Luthier Dança Barcelona, Tiptap Warsaw, Tap Residency Madrid, Morea Performing Arts, and the Tap Dance Festival UK. Recently, she organized the Barcelona Tap Dance Experience, providing opportunities for tap dancers to teach, create, perform, and jam.

Bringing a lot of rhythm, energy and SABOR to our faculty team, Ivan Bouchain will be leading some unmissable thematic classes during the festival💥
Iván Bouchain is a tap and lindy hop dancer and teacher, jam host and showman. He studied musical comedy at the Coco Comín school (Barcelona, ​​Spain) and received a scholarship in 2014 for the "Tap Dance Program" directed by Michelle Dorrance at Jacob's Pillow (Massachusetts, United States).
He taught and performed at the international tap festivals such as Tap On Barcelona, ​​Harlem festival (Lithuania), Oslo Tap Festival, Paris Tap Festival, Tiptap festival in Poland, Stockholm tap festival among others.
He currently teaches regular courses at several schools in Barcelona, ​​such as Swing Maniacs, Coco Comín, Soh-mi Dansa and Luthier.
Director of the companies W.o.t.o and Sabor-life is Rhythm, Iván also created, in 2008, together with Ludovico Hombravella the traditional "TAP in Ciudadela" where dancers from more than 20 countries and some of the best dancers in the world have passed through.
In 2017 he was invited with Dinatatak to the Sanremo festival, Tenco award and they recorded the album "Names of their own" touring several countries in Europe! In 2023 Iván danced at the Tenerife Carnival at the Queen's Gala broadcast on Spanish tv2.

Maria Bossy was trained in the disciplines of classical, contemporary and Spanish dance at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona (1977-1980) and later educated as a tap dancer by the brothers Lluís and Rafa Méndez and also in Paris by Victor Cuno. She began her artistic career with the Anna Sánchez Dance Company (1987) and with the David Campos Ballet Clàssic de Catalunya company (1988).

In 1989 she moved to London to continue her musical theater training at the London Studio Centre. Her artistic career kept on being developed in the world of theater, in which it is worth noting: Joy to the World (1989), West Side Story (1990), Jack and the Beanstalk (1991), Moby Dick (1993) The Royal Variety Performance (1993) Cinderella (1994), The Magic of Disney (1994), and the tap show Taking a Chance on Tap (1995).

Back to Spain, in 2003, she joined Camut Band African tap and percussion company and Sharon Lavi’s tap company as a dancer, while also working as a choreographer. She currently dances her own choreographies with the tap group 3KeTap, along with Javier Arroyo “Jota” and Bealia Guerra.
