The Liberty is celebrating again! Because we are celebrating our 10th anniversary just in time for Sitges Pride! What a year! Sitges already celebrated normality with all festivals in 2022 and so the plans for 2023 are already in place! So this hotel is now famous... The renowned New York Times even praises the Hotel Liberty Sitges with a picture of the garden - in their paper and online edition (even with a link). So we feel honored!!! Even if Booking/com doesn't see it that way... After the group learned that guests currently sort more by ratings than by stars, well-rated hotels apparently have to be pushed down so that hotels that are able get a higher commission to pay, slide further forward... For hotels that are popular with guests, a 5x10 rating in the overall result can sometimes turn into a 7 or 8. Aha. We've had this topic before. So only trust reviews that appear believable in terms of content. And finally some good news: Sitges is living and experiencing this year like in the "good old days".... Great parties with lots of sun, fireworks, human towers, pride and bears. Speaking of Pride... Actually, we wanted to happily announce the return to normality. We had a fantastic carnival with numerous colorful parades, a great atmosphere and international guests. We were delighted to see the return of the Barcelona to Sitges Auto Rally with historic cars and motorbikes and a city (and hotel) once again packed with friends of art, culture and patchwork... Meanwhile, Sitges Pride has also been confirmed. Actually everything is "normal" - if it weren't for the ruthless attack on our European neighbors. It exceeds our idea of respect and peaceful interaction with each other - in the middle of civilized Europe. Our thoughts are with all the hardship and suffering and help with donations for a "normal" life now and "after"...

Now it's official: The Sitges Tourist Office has released and confirmed the festival dates for the whole of 2022! Spain (like other EU countries) is no longer concentrating on the (decreasing) incidence, but only on the hospital occupancy rate in the future - which has fallen sharply to a "normal" level. Travel can be planned again (even with flexibility via our homepage) and SITGES IS BACK FOR YOU! We can look forward to these event highlights:

After 2 years of pandemic, many well-known scientists are in agreement and are optimistic about the end of the corona crisis in 2022, since current and (based on experience) future mutations only show / will only have slight side effects. Even if, as with the flu, a regular booster vaccination is necessary, freedom is closer to us than a life with restrictions and a lot of human suffering.

This year we had more and again fantastic guests! But we also missed many of our regular guests who, for known reasons, were unable to travel. We are all the more hopeful that travel restrictions and quarantine will finally come to an end after spring 2022 and that we will all see each other again from 2022, healthy and happy!

After 2 years of pandemic, we were finally able to organize our traditional Christmas dinner together with guests and friends in the hotel decorated for Christmas. Not all guests are in the picture and it is difficult to think of Christmas when the weather is almost 20 degrees. That didn’t detract from the positive mood, because Thomas’s 5-course menu was just delicious! There were of course plenty of gifts - as you would expect, the teddy bear family has (not only) grown to include a small piece of jewelry ... It's Christmas again! The town hall and the market square are shining and in Liberty Sitges countless Christmas bears have dressed up for our many guests who, as a group from Ireland, Australia and Great Britain, have booked the entire little Liberty for a birthday. Our guests currently mostly from Germany, Spain and France use the summer temperatures to relax in Sitges, enjoy Christmas shopping in the city, or simply leave the complicated Corona times behind. Enough reasons for us to finally celebrate again this year with our hotel guests with a Christmas dinner together. Don't let it get you down and stay optimistic for a "normal" New Year 2022! Even if we are actually looking forward to Christmas and New Year, when the super chef Thomas again invites guests from the hotel to the traditional, free holiday dinner, we are already looking forward to Carnival 2022. The route for the parades on February 27 and March 2nd confirmed and that means that we can experience another big step normal in Sitges. No wonder: Spain is not only the European Covid vaccination master (already 70% have a first vaccination and a complete vaccination of 70% is expected in mid-August at this rate), but in Sitges you have been relaxing for weeks with summer temperatures of over 30 Degree on the beach and / or enjoy "normal" freedom with a lot of live entainment and the usual colorful nightlife. It has long been recognized in Spain that high incidences no longer have to mean dramatic conditions in the hospitals and are giving the people (and guests!) Back their basic rights in the country. Anyone who has been double-vaccinated has no quarantine in European travel and on the return journey anyway or other disadvantages to be feared. So it is high time to take care of your personal well-being again and finally leave the stress of everyday life and pandemic stress behind you for relaxing days in Sitges. Are you younger than 29? Then you currently belong to the risk group. But don't worry, hardly anyone ends up in hospital or even dies from it. Therefore, even if the incidence among adolescents is over 6,000, the measures are proportional. How do you want to keep young people from meeting, partying, dancing, LIFE ... if they don't even fall ill?

Politicians have to give up power and return basic rights - that is difficult for politics, but proportionately for the people. Bars and restaurants are open until around 1 a.m. in Sitges, and you can shop, visit museums or enjoy the many beaches. There are numerous cultural offers and concerts, in short: more or less everything is possible so that you can spend a carefree holiday. But do politicians hope that the youngsters will go home from 1 a.m.? Did we follow the rules back then?

According to the current state of science, we should no longer be scared of high incidence values, especially because most of us have already been vaccinated twice and politicians do not want vaccinations to be compulsory. Let us not fall into hypochondria (chronic fear of illness), but continue the vaccination rate, which is currently over 60% for the first vaccination and almost 50% for the second vaccination in Spain.
