Volunteering season is here for ESBS students! 🫶

One of the best ways to learn real experience, and live by our methodology “learning by doing”, is volunteering at sport events and organisations.

Here are some (but not all, of course) of our recent volunteering adventures from our Bachelor and Master students in Valencia and Madrid:

Why were our 2nd-year Global Sport Business Students in Cívitas Metropolitano? 👀🏟️

Last Friday, our students were welcomed at the home of Atlético de Madrid as part of their academic programme, to present their business development ideas to the team, a project they had been working on in teams for a few weeks💪

Congrats to our students for their work and a special thanks to Alejandro Ugarrio, Director of Atleti Lab and Associate Director of Digital Development, for the incredible welcome 🙌

Volunteering at IFEMA Madrid Horse Week with our 1 students! 🏇🏻

The first year students of the Bachelor in Sports Marketing and Event Management at the Madrid campus took part in the renowned Horse Week, held at IFEMA MADRID MADRID ✨

The students were able to work on the preparation of the event (which starts today, 24 November), especially on the aspect of sustainability. All this was made possible thanks to Antonio Cañas, managing director of Greenize Projects and also sustainability teacher at the school.

🏆 Horse Week celebrates the World Show Jumping Cup, the new edition of the Madrid Horse Week Vaquera Cup, and International Show Jumping Competition 1*.

🐴 Horse Week not only brings together competitions, but also offers entertainment shows, exhibitions, and activities for all audiences.

What are the new digitalisation trends in the Spanish sport industry? 📢

As you know, every year we join forces with Palco23 to carry out an in-depth study of the sport business in Spain to asses the current state of the industry: the Barometer of Sport Business in Spain.

This year we have found some interesting facts but, what do they mean? 🤔

🌍 Online channels are still a priority for businesses for growth, engagement, and client acquisition. Also, offline channels have risen in popularity: don’t underestimate the offline!

🤩 Engagement is still a top focus of sport businesses, however, this percentage has dropped considerably, projecting that digital transformation will soon gain significance (watch out, this means the industry will need skilled and specialised profiles!)

💿 Almost half of businesses employ big data in their processes, yet only 18% consider it is crucial to develop these processes, a percentage that has doubled since 2022. Although we’re not there yet, businesses are catching onto the importance of digital developments.

Ayer, jueves 27 de octubre, celebramos en ESBS Madrid el evento de presentación del Barómetro, iniciativa de Palco23 que realiza junto a ESBS.

El campus de Madrid recibió a profesionales de la industria del deporte para compartir con nosotros los insights más significativos del último año de la industria deportiva y, además, compartir ideas, reflexiones, y experiencias. 🤝

El informe, presentado por Christian De Angelis, consejero delegado de Cinnamon News, y Jorge Coll, fundador y director de ESBS, ataca las diferentes secciones del negocio: la facturación del sector, inversiones, estado del empleo, patrocinios y acuerdos comerciales, o perspectivas del mercado, entre varios.

Como profesionales de la industria, estos datos son esenciales para actuar en consecuencia al estado del mercado y continuar trabajando para el desarrollo sostenible y positivo del sector. 📈

Gracias a Palco23 y a su gran equipo por otro año más de colaboración y a todos los profesionales que asistieron al evento.

As sport business students, it is crucial for you to work on your personal brand to get ahead in a highly-competitive and passion-driven industry. That’s why seeking advice and help from industry professionals during your studies is a must 💪

Why is it important to develop your personal brand as a student?

🏆 To stand out in a highly-competitive industry: it’s no secret the sports industry is highly competitive, with many professionals competing for limited job opportunities. Therefore, you need to work to present your unique qualities and skills, and showcase the value you can bring to an organisation and team.

🔝To support your own long-term career growth: if you’re serious about making your passion your profession, you need to think about building a sustainable future for yourself. As you progress in your career, your personal brand should evolve with you.

💼 To attract investors, consumers, partners, and opportunities for entrepreneurial projects: if you’re thinking about starting your own business or project, having a strong brand is critical to success and to position you and your project.

🌍 To connect with the right people: career success often depends on networking. When people know who you are, what you excel at, and what you want, it will be much easier to be connected to new opportunities, job openings, and internships.

Daniela Negreda and Tomás Álvarez share their testimonials of the IGNITX x ESBS mentorship programme 22/23! 🎉

ESBS and IGNITX partnered in the 22/23 academic year to deliver a mentorship programme to 10 selected students of the Master in International Sports Management.

The programme started out as a pilot programme, but after its success, we renew it for this new academic year 🙌

Daniela, aside from being a seasoned event management expert, has also been collaborating with ESBS for many years as a lecturer. From ESBS, we are incredibly excited about this collaboration with IGNITX, brought together by Daniela, and to see that our students have found such value in the programme.

Daniela and Tomás, MISM student, have been working hard this past year on Tomas’ personal branding, industry skills, curriculum, and exploring relevant job opportunities, among others. 💪

We want to congratulate the incredible IGNITX mentors and our wonderful students (the mentees) for their work this year!

GSIC Summit Madrid 2023 completed! 🎉

These past two days (25 & 26 of May) we have joined our partners on two days of conferences, workshops, and networking on the subject of ‘Traditional sports, Esports & gaming innovation in the era of web 3.0’ with industry leaders, ambassadors, experts, and partners.

Our Madrid team attended the two-day event and our campus director and academic manager, Carmen Ruano ( ) led the discussion panel on ‘The Intersection of Esports, Gaming and Sports’ along and Portas Consulting. 🕹️

We were also joined by our students (last pic!) who came to learn about the future of the tech and the sports industry and make connections 🙌
