Falling off a mountain, helicopters, almost needing a prosthetic arm, country move, change of career, creation of a wine business from scatch in my 4th country/ 2nd language 🍷) … & I can think of no better way to return than on behalf of the AMAZING Benoit and his AMAZING organic & biodynamic wines!! 💜

Here’s a fun (and true story!)…

I can’t begin to tell y’all the number of times that I’ve been told that I can’t OR WON’T succeed 🤣 …

You see, since leaving my work wearing a three piece suit with a as a full time professor (who happens to be American 😂🇺🇸!) at the best schools in the UK 🇬🇧 & Switzerland 🇨🇭 3 years ago …

In the wake of (AND of course falling off a 🇨🇭 mountain, needing a 🚁 to take me to hospital, 2 surgeries and almost having a prosthetic arm!)

I felt in a sort of combined and sort of way to leave my previous comfortable life, so that I could do whatever I could to support what I think are some of the best and in the whole of Bordeaux 🍇 … and beyond to literally help to put bread 🥖 on their tables to support this community I feel so passionately about …

SO keeping the bow tie … I created as a small wine business based in from scratch in my 4th country and 2nd language w/my first paying client in the Spring of ‘22 🍷

A HUGE part of this passion was to support these wineries with their …

And yet I’ve been told by s, winery owners, staff and others on countless occasions that I won’t succeed … I don’t have the experience, I’m TOO American for Bordeaux, I’m NOT American enough 🤣, I’m NOT French …

AND OF COURSE … that this is the in the last 50 years to sell to the USA 🇺🇸 (and other wines!) ( SEE this message from an importer in Virginia who wrote to me!)

While I was at the back in March … I was one of the s who was selected to “STAR” in their video!

I have to say that since starting in 2022, the opportunity to be as a judge for the was definitely among the most brilliant of opportunities that I’ve enjoyed!

-5,920 different wines
-49 countries
-1,178 gold and silver medals awarded
-32 trophies given

Having worked now from nearly all the major perspectives in the wine industry whether for a winery, alongside and , , restaurants or of course with individual clients … I know how important these medals can be!

I had the honor and pleasure of judging alongside some of the best in the industry including the senior buyer for in Belgium, an expert in , a leading in Paris and so many others! I loved the electric passion and expertise of everyone there … it was incredible to be working together to recognize some fabulous wineries and their wines from around the world!

I never would have thought that when I began Man Vs Wine back in #2022 that I would have an opportunity like this … much less to be selected by to be one of their featured judges … WOW! 🤩

HUGE thanks to for selecting me as an judge and to the incredible Victor for this awesome video!

My life often feels like the combination of the films & 🏃🏻‍♂️🌽🍷… BUT WHAT FUN!!!!🤩

And the fact that I get to support the BEST & in the whole of & beyond is just !!

THE PASSION 4 THE VINE!

Today I’d like to share with y’all a little bit about my ❤️ yesterday w/this legend… who owns 2 small 5 hectare wineries (1 in & 1 in )!




He first acquired his property with only 3.5 hectares in #2014 and he originally had to rent a cellar in to make the wine!

This is not a multigenerational family property … this is a work of art created from the ground up with his own hands!

What’s so amazing about him ??

First and foremost it’s Christian’s ❤️ for THE VINE!

I learned SO MUCH about his vineyard practices & there’s too much to share (we spent over 2 hrs in the vines together!) BUT for example … He doesn’t cut the tops of his vines during the growing season because he says it’s like releasing the air pressure from a Boeing airplane door at altitude (sorry Boeing!) … he wants to maintain all of that oxygen and nutrient circulation by wrapping the tops of the vines along the top wire.

What else?! w/truffle trees & fruit trees planted IN THE VINES!

He’s doing whatever he can to increase to make great wine & creating what he calls a “petit revolution!”

AND he consults for vineyards all over 🇫🇷 including to create even better !

Organic? ✅ Biodynamic? ✅ But ?? He only makes wines with 💯 % ( 🍇❤️‍🔥!!)!

I loved all his wines (great use of & !) but it’s his whites which blew me away (esp his ‘22!)!

Look at the whites (an even mix of
) made in …but in ‘22 he held the white juices (which are COFERMENTED!) ON THE SKINS FOR 10 days(almost like an !)(& then in for 1 year!)! ?WONDROUS, LUSH, DRY w/OFF THE HOOK TANNINS 😮🥳🥂

CRAZY w/dark yellow fruits & almonds & a (the vines grow right next to an !) THINK grilled wild boar or Risotto St Jacques … but don’t think too long! It’s SO & SO SPECIAL!

And just minutes prior …

He shared it with me!

I was attending ‘s where they were sharing the of their #2023 (absolutely GORGEOUS by the way with big, lush black fruits in their Domaine Chante Alouette Cormeil and subtle violets and florals in their ! Let your orders !)

He and his daughter Samuelle (who I work with at the amazing !) shared it w/me in a blind tasting … it was !

In appearance it was like a with a orange rim & an inviting tawny layering w/a still lasting center. Wow!

Wondrous aged leather, wet autumnal leaves 🍁 (U could just imagine all of the colors walking through the forest!), wild cepes, but with a … AND GET THIS … considering especially that it was a 1959 … SO MUCH FRUIT!!! Deep, dark, red fruits!! HOLY SMOKES!!

I loved the opportunity to share stories of his time in the vines & at the château … his favorite vintages of all time U ask?

Monsieur Delol was 11 yrs old when he worked his 1st harvest ( ) … (though he laughed saying how that’s definitely not allowed … unless ! 🤣)

did I mention that he’s #85 ??!!

I don’t know about y’all … but he’s one of the best looking 85s I’ve ever seen! And he still working with his daughter Samuelle to make !! He’s a testament to the power of what’s possible with AND WINE !!

(Ps don’t you think he looks like a 🇫🇷 ??!!)

We talked about his passion for the vine and how especially wine has been the thread that has interconnected with his life’s great events and the day to day …

It’s the story of both human & of the vine and how it helps us to tell and share stories

It’s hard to believe sometimes …

And yet …

When I see a sight like I saw yesterday with the legendary Benoît Latouche … THIS is what !!

WINE OUT THE DOOR 🚪🍷!!

Yesterday even more bottles of some of the best, independent, & wines were picked up to be sent to the great people of 🇩🇰 with the AWESOME & incredible !

And it’s the inspirational knowledge that what we’re doing is putting right on the tables of local families, supporting our community and not some third BMW (or whatever).

In fact, this is what one of my wineries recently wrote me:

“big thank you it’s an ‘achievement’ to sell wine today...well done encore and recognition!”

And just as I was getting ready to close out this post I received these photos from my newest members of the “You’re All Set” level where they EACH received 48 !

And so sometimes I get to think … you know what?

That’s pretty cool!
