A pioneer in her field, radically reconceptualized sculpture as an imprint not only of memory but also of her own body.

? → Szapocznikow was among the first artists to work in more unconventional modern materials like polyester resin, typically used for industrial purposes.

Szapocznikow used polyester resin to create her ‘Breasts’ and ‘Lips’ series, disembodied casts of female body parts. More than five decades ago, Szapocznikow illuminated social injustices through her sculptures. Today, turning off lights symbolizes our planet's well-being, evolving from the artist's legacy.

Started in 1977, Holzer’s first major text work, ‘Truisms’ explores the idea of gathering and presenting information as art.

Did you know? → Holzer created nearly 300 of these statements, based on common sayings and clichés, and expressing many different points of view? She hoped they would prompt people to recognize and question the 'usual baloney they are fed' in daily life.
