MOOD A yellow stairway to green living heaven—A green roof to grow food on and green curtains to cut radiant heat. This is the SUNOO house.

“What makes Sethi’s Sunoo Temple House unusual is the relative proportions of the two spaces. The egg-shaped garden temple, wrapped in a swirling iridescent galaxy created from 1.3 million blue and gold tiles, contradicts a Hindu belief dating back to the fifth century that domestic temples must not be seen. Sethi “decided to make the relationship between man (the house) and God (the temple) – whatever that may mean to you – manifest. The temple is taller than the house.”

One million and three hundred thousand mosaic tiles embellish the surface of the private temple of the Sunoo Temple House, a residential project located near Mumbai designed by International architect Saket Sethi, of Saket Sethi Design & Archilogics Design.

An excellent example of sustainability and innovative design, the project features a garden as a roof and a private temple, adjacent to the house.

The temple, oval in shape and with a spiral structure inside, is externally covered with Bisazza mosaic tiles from the ORO, Opera, Le Gemme Collections, with motifs inspired by the galaxy.

A unique environment spreading a mystical and evocative atmosphere, where architecture becomes part of the natural landscape.
