As officially opens today July 26, we are proud to reveal third and last original artwork created for as part of a campaign celebrating Paris, its small businesses and the , curated by and designed as an open-air exhibition throughout the city.
Let the Games begin!
[SIBYLANT SISTERS] The next main character from the Sibylant Sisters by is:
🔵 Terra, the big sister.
Terra is 11 years old and lives with her little sister Caelum and their mother the Wee Witch Katarina in the Grey House.
So often the caretaker of the family, Terra has been raised to never call for help. And yet in her heart, she knows that sometimes the true act of care is one that defies those who raised you.
Together with Caelum they will survive their mother’s terrifying psychotic breakdown, escaping from the Well of Toads. Recovering from their ordeal the sisters will make a pact to practice their own restorative kind of magic.
This is second original artwork created for as part of a campaign celebrating Paris during the curated by for and designed as an open-air exhibition.
6 artists in total, including Swoon, were invited to draw their vision of Paris and pay tribute to the small businesses that contribute to the city’s diversity.
On view thru July 17 to September 8th everywhere in Paris, in the train stations, in the subway, the airports…
[SIBYLANT SISTERS] We continue the presentation of the Sibylant Sisters, 's newly expanded creative practice, with:
🔵 Caelum, the little sister
Caelum lives in the Grey House with her mother, the Wee Witch Katarina, and her big sister Elly. A regular little girl, as far as anyone can tell.
But living in a grey aired house with only a scrappy Witch and two other creepy residents (whom will be introduced later), and the disgusting Toad Well in the back yard, is a frightening life for ordinary little girls. The two sisters experienced uncertainty and trauma that children shouldn’t have to go through. Yet in that way of children, the power of play and magic is still their first language, no matter what life throws them. The sisters stir in a cauldron little things that have given them strenght: their potion conjures the next tool to lead them on their journeys.
Caelum will get in the muck and beat back a toxic Toad Well invasion, with just an old, unglamorous plunger, to protect her sister, her mother and her home.
We are excited to reveal 1 out of 3 original artworks created by for campaign for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Also featuring original designs by this project is curated by for
Launching next week and on view this summer in the city of Paris during the Olympic and Paralympics Games until September.
"In the Land of the Sibylants" will open September 6th in our new gallery space in Paris XIII !
🎥 Swoon’s latest and ongoing project "The Sibylant Sisters" started as a fairy tale and evolved as a script and a movie, mixing autobiography and fiction, inspired by Swoon and her sister’s childhood in a dysfunctional family, in the form of a fantasy, yet cathartic, narrative.
In the next posts we’ll introduce you to the characters of the movie, the main one being:
🔵 The Wee Witch Katarina (📷)
She is the mother of the Sibylant sisters. Katarina and her girls live in the Grey House, a house filled with grey fog, with grey walls, and a grey roof.
Katarina is ill, very ill. And every day she seems to get sicker and weaker and thinner, as she keeps drinking a disgusting brew from the Well of Toads right there in the back yard of the house…
