This masterpiece of contemporary ceramic and decorative art was exhibited at the National Museum of Ceramics in France which is also -Cité de la Céramique- in Sèvres (in the outskirts of Paris) a few years ago.
After enjoying it for two years, I have finally decided to offer it for sale at La Tuile à Loup. It is an absolute gem, a piece that gives any room its breadth, its ambition, and boldly reflects the taste of its owner. I could describe it to you in intricate detail, but that seems unnecessary, as this work possesses such a presence, such charm, that it represents the pinnacle of refinement. Consequently, the person who resonates with this piece will have no hesitation—it will feel like love at first sight. Acquiring it will be a natural decision.
This work is called “Le Vase aux Pics-Verts” in French, or “The Green Woodpecker Vase” in English.

I told the florist, « I want an extravagant bouquet, something a little wild. » The next day, he arrived hidden behind a veritable shrub. Once set on the table, a single glance was enough to tell me he had perfectly captured my hint of whimsy: 112 inch W x 70 inch H (285 cm wide x179 cm high).
Autumn branches and foliage, Tokyo chrysanthemums, carnations, hydrangeas, dahlias, snapdragons, sanguisorba (also known as Alaska burnet), and limonium which gives it that delicate blur and gentle softness that make this bouquet so enchanting. Speaking of charm, I’m utterly taken by this one and delighted that flowers are plentiful in France at a reasonable cost. I have a deep passion for flowers as you all may know.
The jar that forms the foundation of this floral arrangement is available for purchase at La Tuile à Loup, along with several others in similar proportions. It’s the perfect anchor or focal point in any living space. It truly speaks for itself.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Eric
Winter is the perfect time for slow-cooked meals, often prepared in the oven, like the famous French dish cassoulet. There are many recipes that call for all ingredients to be combined in one dish and slowly cooked in the oven for extended periods.
This winter at La Tuile à Loup, we’ve decided to highlight one of the major traditions of French pottery. Keep in mind that when we talk about craftsmanship at La Tuile à Loup, we mean that every step is done by hand, by an artisan with deep expertise and years of personal experience. This is someone who works within their cultural heritage, which brings that special touch – not just of quality, but of emotion and beauty.
Our current collection features conical oven dishes, perfect for cassoulet but versatile for other uses as well. We also offer round dishes in varying depths, salad bowls, and a few pitchers that double as vases.
Key things to know about this pottery:
1-It’s the beauty of imperfection!
2-The shapes are simple, the pieces are raw, and they’re generally a bit heavier than most pottery you’ll find with us. The exterior of the cassoulet dishes is unglazed, and many pieces have small glaze imperfections, which add to their charm. If you prefer flawless pieces, this collection may not be for you.
3- While these items are reasonably priced, please note that ordering just one or two pieces isn’t cost-effective. The shipping costs would far exceed the price of the items themselves.
Thank you for considering all this information before making any inquiries.

As a priority, we had to fulfill orders for clients on our waiting list, so we now have slightly fewer medium and small pieces available. This collection was introduced well before the bird collection, yet many still remain captivated by it.
If you are truly interested, please send us your request by email and we will provide you with the complete inventory for your review.
These are highly sought-after pieces, striking a delicate balance between artistic expression and artisanal craftsmanship.

This evening, I spent two delightful hours searching for a photo of the wine leaf-shaped plates we once carried at La Tuile à Loup. What began as a simple search quickly turned into a nostalgic journey through the photos of 2012. It was like a romantic stroll down memory lane, back to a time that now feels like a different era, 12 years ago.
So many pieces of exquisite French handmade pottery found their way across the globe from La Tuile à Loup, each one imbued with the special charm of true craftsmanship. Even today, they would still possess that same magic. I find myself wishing I could turn back the clock and hold on to every piece I personally selected from the artisans.
I invite you to browse through some of the photos from that time.
Reflecting on it all, I feel incredibly grateful.
Our collection of bird ceramics: at last, I’ve managed to assemble a selection of small pieces. They are frequently requested.
Currently, we have small rectangular trays, small square trays, little bowls, pitchers, small vases, and medium-sized vases.
If you’ve been waiting for the chance to acquire one, now is the perfect moment.

They grace me with a smile, inspire my dreams, and demand my daily attention. They insist I refresh their water and gently prune away the faded petals. Endlessly, they ease my unquenchable craving for both harmony and discord, for I am captivated by beauty: the cut flowers, artfully arranged into bouquets by the deft hands of the florists in my home city—Paris.

At La Tuile à Loup, we have always cherished the art of basketry crafted by skilled hands in France. We collaborate with five basketry artisans, each with their own unique expertise and eye. Most of them cultivate their own willow, which is part of the secret behind the quality of the wicker baskets you will find at your favorite Paris based showroom.
Basket weaving is not a craft that allows for time-saving shortcuts. Each piece requires a certain number of hours that the artisan simply cannot reduce.
I have a passion for miniature basketry. These small wicker baskets are refined and full of charm. I must specify that miniature baskets demand much more work and precision than larger ones. Therefore, paradoxically, their price is higher.
Our miniature wicker baskets make a lovely addition to any table or desk. Besides, they are the perfect gift for those who already have it all.
Unfortunately, we cannot specify all the sizes in this presentation.

My friends R & S went all out with this stunning bouquet that was made the talented artist Atshushi Taniguchi.
As I have mentioned many times, symmetry is a result of the union of a vessel and flora. As a result, the whole is both pleasing to the eyes and brings joy. This floral arrangement is a reflection of two fundamental elements of beauty: harmony and contrast, they offer a rare sensation of completeness that is thoroughly rewarding to both heart and soul.
Is it the fall season?
It has been raining non-stop today. I find joy in coming home to my floral arrangement in moody colors.
Agathe, Caroline, and Frederic deserve my deep gratitude for their stunning flowers chosen with love and made by https://www.facebook.com/MonsieurleFleuriste
I have been impressed with the craftsmanship, the selection of foliage and blooms, and my favorite touch, the graminenous.
Even after 11 days, their beauty persists.
Our red & white dinner service is a favorite among our customers. Bold, cheerful, and elegant; I like this combination on the table all year round.

How does an exuberant expression of 18th century whimsy sound as the brightener of an early fall day?
The joyful assortment of exceptional vases that have lately taken up residence in the shop has been enriched by a plethora of tea and coffee pots, cups, saucers, and the odd ceramic box or two; as if to prove that delight can take myriad forms. One could argue that practicality is hardly the strongest suit of such a selection; but wow, do they offer the elation a decorative object that exists purely for its own glory can bring.
Known in centuries past as “objets de vertu”, their entire raison d’être is to flaunt form, color, fancifulness, exuberance, technique, and to free decoration from the tyranny of hyper-classical rules. My own passion celebrates the particular brand of sophisticated virtuosity gleaned when three far-flung esthetic cousins meet and exchange codes: French classicism, Italian renaissance, and the Far East.
It takes a freedom of choice unbound to the practical, everyday functionality of a piece to settle into the presence of mind that admires eccentricity for its own sake. Or the thoughtfulness to offer a unique and memorable souvenir as the marking of a special moment – even if that moment is simply the opportunity of spoiling oneself.

The outpouring of love on my birthday anniversary has brought me great joy.
I appreciate all of you for your thoughtful messages, emails, cards, e-cards, photos, floral arrangements, gifts and words of wisdom.
I plan to share photos of the lovely bouquets that are adorning my house these days soon.
This first bouquet was a love message from me to myself.
Merci Eric.
September 14th 2024 - My birthday anniversary
“The only constant in life is change.”
This idea of a “unity of opposites” and a world constantly in flux earned Greek philosopher Heraclitus a reputation as a rather ill-tempered and grouchy misanthrope, a title which undoubtedly did little to improve his mood.
I can relate.
As the anniversary of my birth rolls around yet again, I’m experiencing a time of change, of brooding, uncertainty and frustration. This is the cycle of change, and it will repeat itself in various forms throughout our lives. Odd how each time feels like the first time, and particularly how the unpleasant parts retain their power to taunt us with “I told you so!” and “How could you be so trusting of life again!” along with the specter of eternal separation from all we cherish and hold dear.
(...)
A friend told me that “these times are gifts; they are good times to remember to acknowledge gratitude for the things you have. They allow us to create real value for the wonder of life”.
Stewardship can indeed be a lonely isle. And meanwhile, let me count my many blessings and remember gratitude. Gratitude first for all of you, your undying support for LA TUILE A LOUP and its wares. Gratitude for the opportunity to re-create value, to cherish all that is beautiful and fulfilling in the joys of artisanship and the wonder of modern technology that allows us to discover and share these things with one another in the blink of an eye. Gratitude to know that I am not alone in my quest, and for the thousands of other tiny breaths of air and light keeping the glowing ember of heritage alive.
Thank you all for all you do.
