Sashiko Stitch Restoration and Repair
 
6 week ONLINE course - Starts 5TH September until 10th October.
Thursday 7.30pm - 9.00pm
 
Sashiko is a Japanese folk craft that is hundreds of years old with roots in practicality. Sashiko means “little stabs”, and that perfectly describes the stitch.
 
​The slow, meditative process of forming one stitch at a time is calming so I find Sashiko the perfect technique for a bit of relaxing, self care & quiet time! Personal restoration and repair if you will!
 
You will cover the following techniques:
* Getting started – handling threads, starting and stopping stitching
* How to work Sashiko stitches for a clothing / cloth repair or reinforcement (Visible or invisible mend)
* Creating and stitching a decorative Sashiko pattern on fabric
* Introduction to ‘Boro’ – layering mends and patches with Sashiko stitch
* Bringing your stitches together to create your own composition

An Lochan Uaine..
It's been ages since I posted about our Sunday exploring. Technically this was last Saturday exploring when we took a trip up to Newtonmore for the weekend for a special family celebration. The whole gang took a snowy walk up to Ryvoan Bothy past 'An Lochan Uaine' or 'The Green Loch'...
It is such a beautiful spot and the colour of the water is the most incredible green. Apparently some say it’s from the trees reflecting in the water, some say it’s from the algae within the loch…but legend has it that it’s from the fairies washing their clothes at night…..

Come and join me, in person, at my studio in Aberdeen for this day long, relaxed workshop. Throughout the day I’ll demonstrate several embroidery stitches to create ‘drawn’ texture on cloth, and empower you to create your own embroidery compositions. You will leave with knowledge of several of the most useful embroidery stitches and a stitch sampler that you can use as reference for your own future projects.

I'm very happy to say that Camban Studio Community has made a return for 2024. I really missed doing these courses in 2023 and can't wait to get back to some stitching love with you. ..
We'll be starting again with 'Drawing with Stitch' on Thursday 25th January. Classes will be ONLINE from 7:30pm until 9pm. The sessions are really relaxed and suitable for all levels of experience. ..
This course will teach you all my most used stitches and help you consider stitches as 'marks' that you can draw with. It'll teach you how to pick the right stitches for the right marks so that you can take any image and create your own compositions and stitched creations. I hope that with this course you can develop an experimental and free approach to embroidery and hand sewing...
