On a recent site visit, the rear of the building has been opened up to allow for the extension to seamlessly transition with the main dwelling.

It was a great opportunity to explore the inners of a traditional built granite property. Granite has long been Aberdeen’s emblematic stone. It isn’t merely a construction material; it’s the narrative of our city, defining its architecture and ethos.

Lath and Plaster: A time-honoured technique used in building construction, lath and plaster became prominent in the UK and other parts of the world before the advent of plasterboard. This method involved fixing thin strips of timber (laths) to the framework of a building. Wet plaster was then applied, typically in three coats, to the laths. As the plaster was pressed against the laths, it would squeeze through the gaps, forming ‘keys’ upon setting, which secured the plaster firmly to the wall.

This was such a moving experince visiting the 9/11 memorial and museum earlier this year. The scale of the site at ground zero was memorable and the memorial very moving.

The memorial consists of two reflecting pools set in the footprints of the North and South Towers. These pools have waterfalls cascading down their sides, with names of the victims inscribed on bronze panels around their edges. Above ground you get an appreciation of the size of these buildings.

Below ground you get a further appreciation of the scale and size. The Museum provides visitors with the opportunity to understand the impact of the events and to remember those who lost their lives.

The development of the surrounding area is spectacular, the One World Trade Centre Often referred to as the "Freedom Tower" during its planning stages, this skyscraper stands at 1,776 feet tall (a symbolic number reflecting the year of the U.S. Declaration of Independence) It has become an iconic part of New York City's skyline and is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.

World Trade Center Transportation Hub: The Oculus, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, is a modern train station that connects PATH trains to New Jersey and NYC subway lines. Its design, which looks like a bird in flight from the outside, is distinctive and has become another recognisable feature of the downtown landscape.

We completed the drawings and prior notification application for this agricultural shed located in the outskirts of Keith in Morayshire.

We have also obtained planning permission for a new build dwelling south of this agricultural site.

What a stunning location and surrounding. An interesting site which was formerly a quarry!

Our client has just sent us a project update photo and we are loving this glazed gable window 😍. Can’t wait to visit the site!!!
