I’m actually grateful for cancer…
Back in the day
It was fair to say I didn’t have a lot going for me
I’d go out drinking every weekend
I was working at a job I didn’t really care for
I fell out of love with sport and started to become inconsistent with the gym
I had no real goals or ambitions for my future
Everyone around me was doing something important with their lives
Yet here was me, with no direction in what I wanted to achieve in my life
But all that changed within 16 months, for all the wrong reasons…
The cancer bomb struck
And it hit my dad pretty bad
He got diagnosed with a very aggressive and serious type of bone marrow cancer
(What made this worse was that he got diagnosed 2 weeks after my mum got the all clear from her skin cancer)
Because this was such a serious type of cancer
The treatment process, trips to the hospital and the deterioration of his general health all happened so fast
And by some sort of miracle
My dad skipped death twice, literally🤯
And see when you have big events happen that are so close to each other
It forced me to grow up fast and come to a lot of realisations
And between the moment my mum got her diagnoses
To the point where my dad was coming to the end of his treatment
I managed to “turn my life around” so to speak
I got serious about who I wanted to become, and what I wanted to achieve in my life
You see… It took 2 big life changing moments and for my dad to almost die
For me to put things in perspective and make a change
And if it wasn’t for the most unlucky circumstances I probably wouldn’t have changed😅
So the whole point of this is to say
You shouldn’t wait for that big life changing moment
The penny shouldn’t have to drop for you to finally make that change
Especially when you already know that a change is needed🙌

Strange coming from me is it??
But here’s why..
Most personal trainers will take your money, count your reps and only contact you when you need to book in for a session
They will also tell you in a wayyy too enthusiastic tone

You wouldn’t believe me if I didn’t have this photo🤣
But I broke my collar bone doing a forward roll…
(Sounds made up right)
Back when I was a wee youngster
Me and my brother were out playing in the garden
Running around, trying to do some cool moves we seen on TV👀
There was this one trick in particular we wanted to try
And it was this forward roll type thing
And yeah… you guessed it😅
It went horribly wrong
And boom, I wounded up with a broken collar bone and a sling
(I’m still convinced my brother pushed me and put me off my trick…. He still denies it all🤣)
But see the thing that gets me…
Even looking back at it after all these years
If we break it down in the most simplest of terms
Because of exercise, I literally broke a bone in my body
So do I now hate exercise and should I have broken my other collar bone to prove that exercise is bad for me??
No, of course not.
I just learned to exercise in other ways and to not attempt things you see on TV
(And most importantly I learned why they tell you on the TV to “not try this at home”😭)
So the moral of the story is this…
When you miss a gym session, eat over your calories or fall off track
Stop hating yourself for it
And stop going completely out of your way to ruin your progress even more.
Be like young me with his broken collar bone
And learn ways to either:-
Get you back on track so you can bounce back and see results quicker
Or realise that what you are currently doing is not working for you
And that there has to be some better way for you to stay on track
Who would have thought…

One successful day🏆
A sweaty celebration to a new beginning for our members!
It’s been a crazy 10 months since we first transitioned to TransformU
But with the launch party coming to an end
And TransformU 2.0 getting started
It’s got me super excited on what the next 10 months could bring
Especially after days like today🔥

Sometimes it’s not about “losing weight”
And the number on the scale becomes irrelevant!
That was the case for Louise!
As there was a much bigger motive behind it all🙌🏼
The motive was to stop the viscous cycle
Of losing weight, relish in results and then pile the weight on again
This time Louise wanted to actually be able to keep her results
So she could go into every day life not feeling unfit
So she could look in the mirror and not feel “ugh” for once
But more importantly
So she could be a good influence and a role model to her son
Don’t get me wrong…
Yes, Louise still wanted to lose weight and drop a couple dress sizes
And we achieved that with Louise dropping 14.5lbs in total🔥
But that isn’t even the achievement to brag about
Because in the process of losing all that weight
Louise also stopped the viscous cycle of piling on the weight after seeing results
Along with ALSO achieving🏆
- Higher energy levels
- Increase in strength (managed a 100kg deadlift)
- Big increase in confidence in and out the gym
- Making the gym part of her daily lifestyle
- Better understanding of the gym and exercises
- Fitting into smaller clothes
- Improving general activity levels
- Eating better meals and having more of a balance

That’s Callum now bagged his 6th movement at 100kg
(Only his 1st time officially being awarded for it since all previous lifts were before we created this wee club😜)
To think when Callum first joined our program
He had never been to the gym before
Had no clue what to do or how things worked in the gym
And even struggled with lifting 20kg on certain exercises
To now where he is just all round
Lifting some pretty heavy s**t consistently

1 week you come to the gym 3 times
The next week it’s 6 times
Then you don’t come at all for 2 weeks straight
It’s like having a flashback to when I first started coming to the gym
My excuse back then was
“Life is just really busy right know, I can make up for it when it’s quieter”
But I very quickly learnt that life never does get any quieter
And the next thing to throw you off guard is right around the corner!
Its why it led me to be feeling constantly frustrated with my results
And alot of our members feel the same - Darren being one of them!
The no routine, the lack of structure, the forever start stop mentality
Never sticking to anything long enough to actually reap up the benefits

THE 100kg CLUB’s NEWEST MEMBER🔥
The Wee Bro - Ryan
The 100kg club was a far cry away for him when he first joined
Due to a pesky little injury
But that didn’t stop us from laying the foundations
To build good habits around training and his nutrition
So when the time was right (aka - when he recovered from his injury)
It allowed us to have pure tunnel vision
On increasing the intensity on the weights he was lifting
And boy is he reaping in the benefits now

Especially for not letting injuries hold back
And using it as an obstacle to work around rather than a setback💪🏼
And to think the next 100kg is in the pipeline for next week aswell!
Welcome to the club!
For a moment, I was 007 in James Bond ready to save the world 🌍
Dodging bullets, fighting bad guys, and doing these crazy stunts…
But just before I was about to accept my next mission…
My dad yelled at me - “Shaun… burgers are ready… come grab one before they go”
Granted, I was only 5 years old.
So the saving the world thing?
It could wait.
Burgers were more Important!
And spy’s need feeding😜
See, since I was 5 years old, my nan and grandad would hold these big family summer bbq’s.
Which was a blast!
Because they’d also rent out a bouncy castle as well.
And while we were having fun, the grown ups would sit and drink beers and wine all day long.
Then at night, we’d hear stories from half drunk adults.
I cherish those times.
No one cared how late it was or how drunk they got or if the kids (me) were playing make-believe James Bond.
We enjoyed each other’s company
And it became a yearly tradition which brought us closer as a family.
And with reflecting back on those times...
It made me realise
The same stands for you and your fitness goals.
Never undervalue people who want the best for you

And you’re around people who want to support and lift you up?
Who don’t judge
Mock
And criticise

Stop dipping your big toe in
And just fully commit to it👊🏼
When it comes to you in the gym
How often do you catch yourself saying…
What do I want to do in the gym?
And your head bounces off a couple recurring thoughts
1.) Wanting to slim down, lose weight and look lean
2.) wanting to build muscle and become stronger
3.) get fitter and generally healthier
And with this, what I see all the time
Is that you will be so unsure on which one you want to do
Mainly because every goal has an element of a certain action you don’t really want to do
Whether that’s track calories, lift heavy or even do the smallest amount of cardio
So you then start questioning
“Which one is best for me”
And it leads you down a path of
Doing a mix of all 3
But only focusing on the bits of all 3 you enjoy doing
Then a couple of months go by
And despite everything you are doing you realise there’s no results to match👀
The easiest way to stop this??
Start fully committing to one goal
And stop dipping your toe in with all these different goals
Whatever one is on your mind the most
Fully commit to achieving that goal
Go 100% with it
Instead of the usual, half assed attempts
Do all the hard things that you usually skip
And once that is complete
Then move onto the next one
I feel the norm nowadays is to be out of shape
And people get a hell of a lot of praise for being the smallest bit in shape
I think it mainly comes from people not truly valuing or appreciating what they can actually achieve
And I don’t care if this sounds harsh…
But you don’t properly appreciate your body
That’s why you eat the things you know you shouldn’t
And you don’t properly value being healthy
That’s why you do more of the things you know you shouldn’t…
You can blame whatever you want
Your lifestyle / how it’s never been you / covid (still😴)
But to me it’s as simple as this
You value what you appreciate
But because you’ve never actually pushed you’re self hard enough
You’ve never been able to witness what you are actually capable of doing
So all you ever do is just go through the motions
Staying in your comfort zone
Which ultimately leads you to have no purpose on your fitness journey
From here you are too worried about fitting in with the “norm”
And what people might think / say if you say no to a slice of cake
So that’s why you are constantly stuck in the hamster wheel of starting and stopping with your fitness goals
Because you just simply don’t value being healthy
And you don’t appreciate yourself enough
Can you remember it?
The last time you left the gym thinking
Offt I’ve actually achieved something there?
And I don’t mean just leaving the gym
Feeling hot, sweaty, and going through the motions and just happy that you went
I mean leaving the gym
Feeling like an absolute monster
Knowing you’ve worked f*cking hard
Pushed yourself to the limits
And you are over the moon about what you’ve accomplished when in the gym…
If you struggle to remember that feeling
Let me take a stab in the dark…
1.) you bounce around the cardio machines 5 minutes at a time and then train some core
2.) you do your workout but the weights all stay the same, nothing ever improves
3.) you are comfortable with what you’re doing so you s**tebag it and never really push yourself
4.) you go to classes, and never put the things you learn into the gym floor
You are gonna be in 1 of those 4 categories
And a big slap of realisation coming your way
If you struggle to remember the last time you left the gym feeling like you’ve properly accomplished something
Yet at the same time are getting demotivated and fed up of not seeing results
Then the 2 go hand in hand
You don’t need to “work harder and do more”
You just need to take the things you are currently doing up a few gears🚀
There is one simple reason why you are not getting great results
And I learned it the hard way after being frustrated with my own results for so long
Until I realised,
It’s got nothing to do with the things I’m doing on a day-day basis…
It’s about the small things I’m overlooking👀
Like dealing with stress and overwhelm
