This week we celebrated National Photography Day.
Photography is the beauty of life captured and we wanted to show this off...
Photos aren't just photos and they have a lot of meaning behind them, we came up with lots of different ways to capture beauty and life within a photograph. We asked the people living with us to look into a mirror and give us feedback on what they see and how they have changed over the years. We created a picture collage to show off our photography skills and showcase our work in our waterfall cafe for everyone to see.

Water Royd Summer Fair 2024 💙
What a fantastic day we had on Saturday at our annual summer fair. The day was perfect, we had some wonderful feedback from the people living with us, their family members and people from the local community.

Special thank you to Barnsley White Watch Firefighters that took time out of their day to attend, such a great bunch who had time for everyone we really appreciate your attendance 🚒

A huge thank you to our Lifestyle Co-ordinator Chloe for arranging the stalls and making the amazing day happen 🤗, our Business Administrator Jo for her generous donation of our new bar and donations from Ian at The Grey Horse, Shaun at The Dodworth Tap and Mick from the Thornely Arms, it is very much appreciated 🍻

Thank you to all the stall holders that attended, the lovely staff from the food truck and Ian from birds of prey🦉, Kim & Dave, and the best DJ, DJ Dave 🎤

Thank you to all our wonderful staff and family members for donating their time and brilliant carers for ensuring that our lovely lot were able to attend and have the best day.

We raised a massive £715.82 for our resident fund, so a huge thank you to all for your generosity 💙. Thank you all from everyone at Water Royd 🤗

We have recently had a snooker table kindly donated for everyone to enjoy living at Water Royd. The snooker table was donated by David who visits Water Royd daily to see his lovely wife Eileen. Special thank you to David, I'm sure it will bring the people living at Water Royd great pleasure for many years to come. 💙 🎱

Brilliant afternoon had by all last week outside in our garden area having a sing and dance with 'Kim & Dave' who kindly stepped in last minute to come along to Water Royd to sing for everyone.
A lovely afternoon and the weather was beautiful too 💙 🥂

Saturday was a very special day for everyone at Water Royd. The lovely Eileen who lives with us attended her daughter Kierston's wedding. Eileen looked absolutely beautiful along with her husband David who was so proud.
Special thanks to Eileen's beautiful family for such a lovely day, to our amazing nurses Louise and Katie who helped care for Eileen and our fantastic care staff Milly, Caitlin and Nikki for helping Eileen get ready for her daughters' special day, you did us all proud.
We wish Kierston and her husband Jon a lifetime of love and happiness 💙 💒 💍 🥂

We can't wait to see you this weekend at our summer fair! We have lots of exciting activities lined up on the day for everyone to enjoy...

We have been busy celebrating the opening of the Olympic games by making our very own Water Royd Olympic torch 🔥 Infact, we enjoyed doing the first one so much we made another, this then gave us a brilliant idea to use both in our Olympic torch journey around our home 💙

Our next Resident Relative Meeting will be held on Tuesday 13th August at 11am in our cafe area. We look forward to seeing you soon.

What a brilliant day we had yesterday at our 'Water Royd Sports Day 2024' 🏆. We set our events up outside in the car park and all gathered in the garden area with the added bonus of the beautiful weather 🌞. Competition was on a high, but we had this under control with the best referee, our Deputy Manager Louise.
The people living with us played games with the bean bags, kept nice and cool enjoying ice lollies, and sat back to watch the games. Brenda who lives at Water Royd said "what a brilliant day I've had, thank you for making me laugh so much, I've not laughed like that in a long time"🤣. Thank you to everyone for taking part, you're all such great sports. I think we would all agree our Business Administrator Joe won best outfit 💙🏅 🎾 🏃‍♀️ 🌞 🍧

A brilliant day out on Friday visiting Barnsley town centre. We took the bus into town which was great fun as most haven't travelled on a bus in many years, so this in itself was an experience, everyone enjoyed the journey and looking at the views on the way. Barry said "it's good to be on a bus, im reyt enjoying this ride".
Barry and Chuck had previously mentioned they would love to go to the pub for a pint or two, Rob and Eileen happily agreed 🍻. We enjoyed some lunch at Joseph Bramah and chatted for hours over a few more drinks. 💙

Alan and his lovely mum Debbie performed for everyone at Water Royd on Friday teatime. She really enjoys coming in to sing and having a chat with everyone living at Water Royd.

Brilliant feedback from our lovely lot, Josie said, "that was such a lovely evening I've really enjoyed it". Fabulous as always, we look forward to Alan and Debbie returning soon 💙 🎤

We all had a lovely afternoon on Friday outside in the glorious sunshine enjoying ice-creams and singing on the karaoke.🎤

Chuck beautifully sang 'I did it my way' and Laura enjoyed singing with our Lifestyle Co-ordinator Chloe.

What a brilliant morning we had with the fabulous Amanda from Singalong Days. Amanda always delivers the best performance and interacts beautifully with all our lovely ladies and gents living at Water Royd. A great atmosphere filled with laughter, singing, dancing and the lovely David was a great sport getting into character rocking the bikini apron 👙 🤣 😎 🎵 💙 🎤 💃 🕺

The parachute game is one of our favourite activities. It provides lots of fun, laughter and is a great way to exercise our upper body 💙

What a lovely morning we had on Friday visiting Wigfield Farm. We started our visit off by looking at all the different variety of birds, visiting the pigs and then onto feeding the sheep and cows. David who lives at Water Royd was brought up on a working farm, so he really enjoyed feeding and petting the animals, the cows were a favourite for David, he was in his element. The meerkats made everyone laugh with their cheeky ways and looked so funny enjoying a spot of sunbathing. It was great to have Violet's family join us at the farm, they also said how lovely it was to see Violet out and seeing her having a great morning. We finished our lovely morning off at the cafe with a cuppa and cake. 🐮🐷 🚜 🌻

What a fabulous afternoon we had outside yesterday enjoying the performance of one of our regular singers Dominic. The sun was shining, our lovely lot joined in singing, having a dance and of course.... more Pimm's🍹 🌞 🎸 🎵 🎤 💙

We had a great morning yesterday playing tennis, table tennis, enjoyed a Wimbledon quiz and of course a jug of Pimm's punch in aid of Wimbledon 2024 🎾. A Brilliant morning having so much fun, great exercise and of course the Pimm's went down a treat too 🍹

This week we had a great afternoon playing 'Just Bowl'. It was really nice to see everyone's competitive side, we enjoyed a good old giggle and smiles all around. Just Bowl is an amazing way to exercise and is fun and great for the mind body and soul.

Tuesday, we had our weekly coffee morning downstairs in our cafe area. It was great to see family members attending and enjoying a cuppa and cake with their loved ones 💙

Friday afternoon one of our regular singers Paul performed for everyone at Water Royd. The lovely Eileen who lives at Water Royd had the family visit, she thanked our Lifestyle Team for such a brilliant afternoon and said how much they've enjoyed it, she gave Chloe a bunch of flowers as a thank you which was such a lovely gesture 💐
We sang, danced, laughed and had a few England songs thrown into the mix to get us all ready for Saturdays game. Same again tonight lads, we will be cheering you on .......COME ON ENGLAND ⚽ ⚽

We had a lovely morning on Friday visiting Barnsley. Our first stop was at the Covid memorial and key worker sculpture that was installed in the Glass Work square in November 2021, they said it was lovely to see it in person after reading about it in the local newspaper.
We had a good browse in the shops, Paul purchased a lovely new pair of shorts, but the ladies didn't see anything that caught their eye so off for dinner we went for fish Friday at Jospeh Brammers. Another lovely morning out 💙

Water Royd was filled will music and so much fun and laughter on Wednesday afternoon with the very talented Amanda from Singalong Days. Amanda always brings her music to life with the help of props and bubbles, it really does make the performance that extra special 💙 thank you for another great afternoon 💃 🕺 🎶

Danny sang some of the best Elvis songs of all time at Water Royd last week. We didn't get many photos as we were having the best time, a fantastic afternoon had by all 💙
We've also been cheering the England team on, chilling with a cuppa or a beer and at times at the edge of our seats 🫣 we will be cheering them on Saturday....GOOD LUCK ENGLAND ⚽

Denise entertained all our lovely lot on Friday and what a brilliant afternoon we had singing, dancing and even our care staff got a little crazy joining in. We had some brilliant feedback, Barry said 'that wo brilliant, I reyt enjoyed that, ya all crackers'. Its how we like it at Water Royd, fun and laughter makes all our days a little brighter 💙 💃 🕺

Our summer fair is fast approaching, and we are in desperate need of items for our Tombola stall such as unwanted unopened gifts, beers, wines, chocolates, non-perishable foods, unopened toys etc. Any items can be dropped off at our reception.

What a brilliant morning we've had visiting Cannon Hall Farm with some of the people living with us.
It was lovely seeing all the beautiful views that they had to offer and all the animals especially the little piglets 🐖. Chuck, one of our gents loved the fish, he said, 'I've never seen so many beautiful fish in my life'.
We met the famous Rob and Dave at Cannon Hall " A Yorkshire farm". Josie and Val are their number one fans and watch them on the TV regularly. Val said, 'oh look who it is I love seeing them on TV' 😀. We finished our perfect morning off in the Cannon Hall restaurant and enjoyed a nice hot cuppa and of course a slice of cake 🍰 🌺 🐟 🐐 🐎

Picnic in Locke Park 💙. What a fabulous morning we've had going to our local park. The sun was shining, there were plenty of refreshments and of course lots of goodies to enjoy.
We had the best day having a walk, our lovely Chuck enjoyed plane spotting and relaxing in the sunshine. The feedback was beautiful to hear, our lovely lot said what a great morning they've had. We can't wait for our next visit 😎 🍦 🥪
