My new Long Burn Spirit Camping Stove Burner. I made this one from an upcycled brass gun shell case. It is heavier than the traditional Trangia type burners, but it has a much longer burn time so it's great for cooking homemade stews etc. πŸ˜€

My latest fire pistons. I've finally found the exact close tolerances to get the best results. If used correctly these ignite every time. They can be used with amadou or homemade charcloth.

I made this staff or hiking stick from an old aircraft carbon fibre actuator rod. I have designed it so that the top can come off and that the hollow shaft can be filled with various bushcraft or survival tools. It also has a mouthpiece so that it can also be used as a loud hunting or signalling horn.

I made this full tang Bushcraft Knife from 01 carbon toolsteel. I used olive wood with black nylon liners for the handle scales which secured together with brass and stainless steel loveless bolts.

This is one of my .22 Blank Firing Starting Pistols. It can also be used as a trip line mine. It is a single shot design that can fire any length of .22 blank cartridge. There is no barrel as such, as there are eight discharge holes that are equally spaced around the front end. Therefore it is impossible to fire any form of projectile.

I made this small brass screw-top flask out of an old brass door k**b or handle. The hardest part was insetting the Victoria penny coins in each side so that the flask does not leak.

Here is a selection of my owl calling whistles plus a variable pitch whistle. I have used these whistles to call owls from my backyard and have been pleasantly surprised when they responded with their calls. These whistles are made of brass, wood and pvc water pipe.

This is one of my scrap metal art pieces. An insect made from an old plumbing pipe wrench and a few other bits and pieces.

When I was younger I always wanted a good quality necklace, but could never really find one that I really liked. In the end I made my own. This one was made from a scrap titanium bar end disc and a piece of brass, which signifies a teardrop. The necklace parts were scrap titanium aircraft components which I added some detail to. The hardest part to design was the joining linkage. I made this from another piece of titanium on the lathe.

A bit of windmill weather vane maintenance. I bought a nice vintage heavy cast iron circular stand and a scaffolding pole at my local recycling centre. I decided to make a weather vane to sit on the top. If you look at my design you will see that they are easy to make. The main frame structure is made from two pieces of box section aluminium. These are held together by two red nylon spindle bearings, bored through in the relieved centres. Thay are threaded top and bottom for 6mm bolts. The spindle is a stainless steel bar and the 4 blades of the propeller are made from brass sheet. These are fitted to a turned nylon component. The main thing to remember when making these propellers is to get all the blades to weigh the same, to be perfectly balanced.

This is another thing I like to make. Its called an auctioneers palm gavel. I made it on the lathe out of heavy brass and solid oak and burned the rings into the wood using the wire method. I also inlaid a piece of brass on the bottom face of the wood. They are really nice projects to do, and not that difficult to make. Also its nice to include a bit of wood turning on the metal lathe sometimes.

This is another one of my upcycled products. I bought the two old brass fishes and thought they would look great on some sort of fisherman's box. So I made this fly storage box out of an old brass shell case, some brass plate, an old brass hinge, and then fitted the fishes to the lid. The lid clicks nicely when shutting the box.

This is my finished .22 Blank Firing Starting Pistol, Gun Dog Training Dummy Launcher Combination. Plus a photo of a push on silencer I made, so I can test fire them at home. These dummy launchers do not have a barrel as such and cannot be used to fire anything other than the intended training dummy as seen in the photos.

This is another one of my upcycled products made from some old solid brass fittings and some parts that I turned on the lathe. Its a heavy brass fishing or hunting priest. I made a dog whistle that is screwed into the end and is concealed inside the handle.

This is one of my upcycled projects. A spirit lamp or candle made from an old brass door handle. They are easy to make up and last for a long time when filled. Also when the top is screwed on its completely sealed and the fuel will not leak, or even evaporate.

This is one of my bushcraft pocket firesteel tools that I've made. You can buy the ferrocium rods on eBay, and easily make handles for them on the lathe. I have made this one so that ferro rod can be put away inside the skull after use.

Two Identical Brass Ground Point Electrophysiological Setups (Shutter Instrument) With Twenty 4mm Plug Sockets. Made On The Myford ML7 Lathe.

I made this German model biplane some time ago out of brass and copper plate, a few scrap items and some parts that I made on the lathe. I made it so the propeller and wheels actually turn. The hardest parts to make were the copper crosses. Models like this are fairly straight forward to make, as soldering brass is easy to do.

I made this large plumb bob several years ago. I found the large rounded shaped brass piece in my scrap box. I thought the only use for it, considering its shape, was to make up this tool. I made the other components on the Myford ML7 and machined the grooves to give it some extra character.

I made this model of a British WW1 Tank some time ago. It is a money box. It is made from brass and copper plate, the tracks being made from flattened copper pipe. I used a .303 rifle cartridge for the exhaust and made it so that the guns can rotate and be moved up and down.

This is one of my upcycled projects that is made from an old brass door handle. These spirit lamps are easy to make and this one only required minimal lead soldering. The lamp can be filled with oil, or have its wick changed, by unscrewing the hexagonal top part. The brass screw cap prevents any evaporation when its not in use. The original screw holes on the base can be used to secure the lamp to a wooden plinth.

This Brass Gavel is one of my upcycled products I made some time ago. Its made from various vintage brass furniture fittings and some turned parts that I made on the lathe. I inlaid an old penny in brass on the stand to give it some character. I bought the oak plinth stand.
