MOT'S, SERVICING AND REPAIRS

Is your vehicle ready for the winter weather?

Simple checks you can do to prepare your car for the winter.

* Headlight & brake light check - Ensure all lights are working properly, are aligned correctly and are clean and clear.

* Wiper blade condition check – If the wiper blades are damaged this can make it difficult for them to dispense the water from your windscreen when driving in the rain, obscuring your visibility.

* Battery health check – check the battery's charge, the general condition and the terminal mountings allowing us to identify any underlying issues.

* Tyre depth check – As well as being vital for the safety of you and other road users, ensuring the tread depth is above 1.6mm is a legal requirement in the UK. Failure to comply could cost you £2,500 per tyre and three points on your licence. Also check your tyres are set at the correct pressure. This increases the lifespan of your tyres & improves fuel consumption.

* Oil level - check your car’s oil level to ensure there is a sufficient amount.

* Screenwash top up – top up the screen wash to help keep your windscreen free from dirt and grime.

* AdBlue & Coolant Check - Coolant and antifreeze is actually the same thing and provides the dual purpose of ensuring liquids do not freeze and crack the radiator in winter, while also making sure the radiator does not overheat in the summer. If you run out of AdBlue when driving, the engine’s performance will be reduced to limit the emissions.

We can provide all these checks for free to ensure your car is winter ready. Call us now to book you in.

Summer Car Checks To Do Before Doing A Road Trip
☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Now that it’s a steady temperature of at least 15 degrees a day in the UK, come rain or shine, we’d classify it as our ‘summer’. Despite the disheartening weather, we always make the most of the sunshine. During the warm weather we all plan road trips to go to the beach or see friends and family, but do you ever check your car before you go on your summer holiday? These are the simple things you can do to make sure that your car is at minimal risk of breaking down this summer.

1. Checking your tyres
Sounds like a job a mechanic should do right? Well, you’re wrong because it’s something you can do yourself at home (yes, seriously). They’re one of the most important assets to your car and that’s why it’s important to do a visual inspection on them every two weeks or so. When doing this one thing you should look out for are bulges in the sidewall as they could be an indication of structural damage that could lead to a blown tyre if it isn’t taken care of. Something else you should look out for is anything stuck in the tyre, for example, nails or pieces of glass. We also recommend making sure your tyre tread depths are at least 1.6mm as that is the legal requirement. Doing these little checks will allow you to spot any problems earlier on.

2. Screenwash and wipers
The things we take for granted are often the things we forget about. We wouldn’t be able to see clearly when driving without our windscreen wipers and the screenwash in our car. Screenwash cleans up road grime, bird droppings and insects amongst other things but it needs to be refilled from time to time. Modern cars have a orange light that comes on when it’s running low. When this happens you’ll need to open up your bonnet, locate your screen wash bottle and refill it. Screenwash can be purchased at supermarkets, DIY shops and petrol stations.

3. Check the stuff under the bonnet 🚗
Something that is often left for independent garages to do is refilling things and checking all of the things under the bonnet. It can be intimidating to people who don’t know much about cars but it doesn’t have to be. There are some things you can check yourself, for example, the coolant, the level of it should be sitting somewhere between the ‘MIN’ and ‘MAX’ markings that you see on the expansion bottle. If you’re not sure where this bottle is located, you should refer to your car’s user manual. You can also check your car’s oil levels by seeing the level of oil between the ‘MIN’ and ‘MAX’ markings on the dipstick. This should be done fairly regularly. If you leave it until the emergency light comes on in your car you could be risking damage to your car.

4. Lights, lights, lights
Checking your lights is a very simple task and an essential one. Doing this will allow you to see how bright they are and to see if any of them need to be replaced.. To do this check, simply turn all your car lights on and walk around your car to see what’s happening with them. You should also get someone to help you check the brake light. We can change faulty bulbs & make sure they are fitted correctly also the headlight alignment to ensure your lights do not blind any oncoming cars!Another thing that’s important to check is your indicator and if anything needs to be changed we recommend taking it to a local garage.

These are simple checks you can do at home to make sure that your car is running smoothly this summer. If you’re still not sure what to look for and are worried about driving on a long journey and breaking down, call us for a free vehicle inspection.

🎁 We would like to wish all ANH Autotec customers a very Merry Christmas & a Happy & safe New year. 🎁

13/12/2021

Hello to all of ANH Autotec's loyal customers

Apologies for taking so long to put a post on here but the last month has been quite an experience for us & also if I'm honest Facebook is a little out of our comfort zone.

So firstly we would like to introduce ourselves to ANH Autoec's wonderful customers, who we haven't already had the pleasure of meeting yet. My partner another Andy, so an easy name for you to remember & myself Debbie have taken on Andy's business since the beginning of November. We have come from Southampton where we had been looking for a small garage to run for a couple of years until ANH Autotec came up for sale. Andy (my partner) has over 30 years experience in the trade & I had worked for a garage for 35 years dealing more with the accounts side of it.

We have come to realise during this first month here that we have some very big shoes to fill. From the customers we have met & spoken to so far we can see that Andrew Heyda is very highly respected & an important part of the community with an excellent reputation which he has built up over the years. We were fortunate enough to have spent 2 weeks with him during the transition period where we tried to abstract as much information from him as possible on how he ran the garage.

The one main objective for us is to continue on with Andy,s good work & to carry on running the business just the way he has always done & we hope Andys loyal customers will kindly give us the opportunity to do this.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Andy for all his help & continued support he has given us & we wish him every success & more importantly happiness in whatever he chooses to do in this next chapter of his life.

We are really looking forward to the new year & meeting more of you but for now we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas & a safe & prosperous New year! 😊

Hey guy's. The time has come to let you all know that I have sold the business. This decision did not come easily and I had been putting it off for quite a while. Over the last couple of years I have not felt myself and at the beginning of this year I decided I had to make some changes in my life when I had to go on antidepressants just to get through the day. I came to the decision because I had to put myself and my relationships with my wife and family first.
The new owners have moved to North Devon and bought the garage. They have many years experience in the motor trade and you will be in safe hands.
I would like to wish Andy and his partner Debbie the best of luck with their new venture.
I hope you all support them as much as you have supported me over the years.
I'm going to be at the garage for the next 2 weeks to help with the hand over.
You will still be able to contact them on the same phone numbers 01271 830300 and 07832 109399

Sad times when I have to spend time and money on the wife's car. Fitted a clutch this afternoon while she is away with the little people camping 🏕 in my van. The clutch was making a noise while pulling away. Preventing a breakdown is always better. If it's your wife there is less nagging as well 🤣🤣

Thanks to all the customers who put cash in the jar at work. I've counted it up this morning and transferred it to the just giving page. It was a whopping £132. The grand total was £382 thanks very much for all your support
