📜 A Level Results Day 📜

To those of you picking up A Level or other results today, or to parents, caregivers, partners of those collecting results today, please remember these do not define the rest of your life. Currently it feels like the biggest thing in your life, but it's not and it can change or be changed.

For those who got the results they wanted or those who got what they needed - congratulations. I hope the next step on your journey is fantastic and everything, and more, than you hope it can be. This may be your ideal career for life and that's amazing. But remember, it might turn out that this isn't your final destination on the education and work journey you are on - and that's OK. You may decide on a change of career direction in 1, 5, 20 years time - and that's OK. Anything is possible. Life constantly changes and we change with it - and that's OK ❤️

For those of you who didn't get what you wanted - you can resit or maybe this isn't your path and the universe has a different path for you. Resists are just as valid as getting the grades first time. No one ever asks you if your grades were first attempts or resits - and it doesn't matter. Changing career direction is also OK. And remember there is always clearing. You might get onto the course you wanted but in a different place. Maybe that is your ideal place and you just didn't know it.

I changed my plans from being a physio when leaving school (GCSEs) to deciding to (I thought) become a Primary School teacher by doing a maths degree, followed by a PGCE. I did the maths degree but not the PGCE as I decided it wasn't for me. I joined the Civil Service aged 21 as a temp and then joined their graduate programme and worked there for over 16 years. And here we are now - nearly (but not quite) back full circle working as a therapist and absolutely loving it. And I wouldn't change the path I took. Firstly I met my husband through the civil service and secondly the other jobs and training I did helps me be better in my business today.

Whatever your situation - it isn't bigger than you. Life is a journey - some take the motorway, some the country lanes. Some have sat nav, some have a basic map, and some are following the sun or their heart. All are acceptable. All will have twists and turns and bumps in the road. Enjoy the journey - the destination will figure itself out ❤️
