At The Natural Pet Pantry, we share many highs with you but we will always be there for support during your lows. When our lovely customer’s cat was diagnosed with a terminal illness we provided a suitable dietary switch and heard each week how well it went down and gave great end of life care.

To be thought of in such a sad time is so bitter sweet for us, but we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to help for as long as we could and will continue to strive to help as many pet parents as we can❤️

Our youngest is flying the nest🥲❤️ a huge good luck and big hugs to our Beth who is starting a new career path next month. We are so sorry to see you go but so proud of you for working hard and getting your dream job! We will all miss you

Due to a delay in us being able to have VOM shipped to the UK, many of you are aware we are running low on stock and hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer for this to arrive, we absolutely understand the frustration this is causing and feel the pressure of this, however we would like to ask that you refrain from verbally abusing our staff. Many of you have accepted offers in discussing similar brands while you wait and we thank you for your patience and support, but our staff have also been subject to abuse despite their best efforts to help.

Please remember, it is out of our hands and we are also very desperate for the shipment to arrive and being rude to staff will not make it arrive quicker.

We have plenty of VOM chubs that can be partially defrosted, cut up into meatball sized chunks and separated in a container that can be used as efficiently as the meatballs

Unless needing veterinary attention, there is no reason to put our dogs at risk by taking them out during the day no matter how bored they may appear.

Regardless of breed, dogs acclimatised to British weather are not equipped to deal with sudden hot weather that we rarely experience

Our top tips:

Utilise cooling mats/coats/wet towels around the house
Keep dogs calm so they don’t overexert themselves even inside the house.
Long lasting treats, lickimats, snuffle mats can be great for mental enrichment

A dog that is persistently panting and becoming weak and lethargic may be becoming overheated. If you need to actively cool your dog, use cool and not cold water, those who are not trained veterinary professionals should also resist the urge to use ice packs as you can cause vasoconstriction which can reduce blood flow by narrowing blood vessels

Seek immediate veterinary attention, it is important to note that you can cause hypothermia if you keep actively cooling your dogs to which their temperature will continue to drop below safe limits and organ damage or failure can occur. This is why it is so crucial to get professional help as quickly as possible as they will be able to monitor vital signs and give any treatment necessary

Brachycephalic breeds are at increased risk due to their lack of ability to effectively pant

A swim in a lake or sea might seem appealing and a viable option to take them to during the day, please understand the risks of this in itself. It can take 72 hours for secondary/dry drowning to occur if a dog has ingested or aspirated large amounts of water and some symptoms are similar to that of what we would expect to see in a dog not enjoying the heat even while being kept in doors (lethargy) and we could miss developing warning signs of pneumonia and fluid accumulation

Please stay safe, for those who don’t like leaving your dogs home alone and like to bring them in our shops for your weekly trips, don’t forget we offer a delivery service and are happy to help in anyway that we can to ensure your dogs are looked after
