Call made for empty £65m Basingstoke mansion to be 'brought back to life' for public CALLS have been made to ‘bring back to life’ an unused historic £65 million Grade II listed mansion house and estate in Basingstoke.

This engraving is on the ornamental bridge leading to the original entrance on the London road. It was made in the Second World War when Hackwood House was used by the Canadian Army

A few of the ancient oak trees on the main entrance drive have either died or are dying. The groundsmen may have been mowing too close to the trunks and damaged the bark.
They will need to be removed and replaced

Keep off the grass you naughty children!! Because...erm actually I have no idea why. Maybe the grass is unsafe? Maybe you might trip up on a daisy? Or maybe they just want people to read these silly signs and they have nothing better to do than pointlessly tell people to keep off the grass.
If you visit Hackwood Park for a walk, please remember that it is a beautiful place and we want to keep it that way.
So make sure you don't leave any rubbish. Thanks!
