Claire has been working with me since this summer '21. I met Claire whilst she was in a bit of a rut, and although training religiously, the spark seemed to be missing. I asked Claire 'What would you like to work towards? Do you have any goals?'. At the time, Claire didn't have any goals, but went away and thought about it.
The next week, Claire came to me and said 'Right Amy, I have a goal! It's my 50th Birthday next year so what if I run a 50K for 50 Ultra marathon?!'...so that's what we are doing of course!!!
Since Claire has started my programme in September her running has been going from strength to strength. We combine speed/threshold runs, A LOT of easy running and a weekly 1:1 strength and conditioning session.
Claire has recently shaved off 2.5 minutes on her 10K race time from 54:40 to 52:07 in just 6 weeks. Next big challenge is the Bath Half! Come on Claire - you've got this.

Prone to injury? Training hard and feeling fatigued?
My client is competing in a local Triathlon event this Summer. We have been working hard to improve her performance through tailored strength and conditioning.
Recently, we had a discussion on training balance and overtraining.
A simple way to help recognise the signs of overtraining is to monitor your resting heart rate.
Step 1: Lie in bed and relax for a minute after your alarm has gone off
Step 2: Start your stopwatch
Step 3: Place two fingers on your wrist between the bone and the tendon over your radial artery (Located on the thumb side of your wrist)
Step 4: Count the number of beats in 20 seconds.
Step 5: Multiply this by 3 to calculate your beats per minute
Step 6: Make a record
A change in Resting Heart Rate can be a sign of possible overtraining. When used consistently it can be a useful tool to help manage your training load and recovery.

What’s your champion pose?!
Often in life we are quick to notice the negatives. This may be the flaws of ourselves or others. A fault we or others have made. The unlucky hands we are dealt.
Do you give the same attention to the positives that are happening all around you?
If you get ready and you nail your hair style do you say ‘Woo my hair looks great today’, or if you complete a work task do you say ‘I’m great at my job’ or when you go and do a workout do you say ‘Yes! Winning at life’.
Why don’t we do this more often? I sure feel amazing when I focus on and appreciate the positives, regardless how small.
If you haven’t done so already, think of 1 thing that you can appreciate yourself for today. Write it down. Say it out loud. Maybe even strike a champion pose...😉
