Here's a little poem for my niece's and the two little sisters in the spotted coats in Calais Jungle.
Two Little Girls
I met two little girls just like you
Their hair was Brown
And their eyes weren't blue
But deep inside,
Just like you
A smile went from ear to ear
And down their cheek
Runs the same wet tear
They run and skip
And sing and play
Then drop to sleep
At the end of day
But there's no daddy
To hold them tight
As they try to sleep
In fear at night
Two teddys of yours
They now own
So pray one day
They'll have a home
Sleep well little ones xx ❤

Such a cold air in the Midlands this morning; the frost was hard. Northern France is so much colder with a relentless strong wind. Please help us warm the refugee camps and give what you can, even a pound helps. # # #

I am on the wagon, giving up the booze. So friends, who is up for a round this weekend? If you can spare me the price of a pint, which I will not be drinking... can I ask you to pop it in the wood yard fund please! X
Volunteers continue to stand with refugees and to deliver wherever the need may be. THE CALAIS WOODYARD IS STILL A PRIORITY; wood for cooking and warmth must get to the refugees, many of whom are now reduced to paper thin tents in fields. Please consider making a donation to help us help the Calais woodyard.

New camps will grow, and people will continue to flee war and persecution. Please continue to be human and help the most vulnerable among us.

What a stunning day at the ever awesome Cherry Wood Project near Bath. The fuel mission for Calais and Dunkirk refugees continues. Sticks from Cherry Wood, branch logger and tractor from Oli and Lily, graft and laughter from the rest. Love you guys # # #

There are so many people who feel upset and outraged by the humanitarian crisis on our doorstep. Many people want to help but can't go to France due to family, work and other resposibilities. This doesn't stop all of us helping, on whatever way we can. If you can't physically go to Calais but feel moved by the plight of the refugees, please consider donating to our project. Doesn't matter how small an amount; we can make big things happen with many small contributions.
Thank you x

Some of you have been reading my posts on here, and on my own page, and I'm sure you probably guessed that it wouldn't be long before we were trying to return to Calais and help get that wood yard rolling. We desperately want to see warmth and nourishment in all forms in the refugee camps, and our skills lie in wood so this is the obvious route.
We've set up a crowdfunder, please, please donate what you can and share this page far and wide. Heartwood Love
Adam and I went to Calais for 6 days with fuel and to work the woodyard at l'auberge, we also went to Dunkirk. I can tell you now that Dunkirk's Grand Synthe Refugee Camp is hell on Earth, and it doesn't need to be; our brothers, our sisters, our children are suffering needlessly at the hands of callous governments who breach human rights law and try to tell us all that the refugees are illegal.
I can also say that while the Calais Jungle is a hard place to be, and many are in desperate need of safety and comfort, the Jungle has birthed many beautiful communities and projects; many friendships and much warmth have grown in this place and it is impossible not to be in awe of the resilience of human spirit through such degrading circumstances. There is beauty in the Jungle.
Again, the European Convention on Human Rights, ratified by France and UK, is being spat upon. These governments will try to convince you the refugees are bad and scary and illegal, and a threat to life as we know it. This is bu****it. Our governments are criminals; murderous, profiteering lunatics who pick and choose the laws they respect. They are killing and destroying men, women, children, the elderly, the sick, the disabled...they are the enemies of community, of creativity and compassion, and ultimately of life. Our supposedly civilized leaders are the threat. They are certainly a threat to my values, to the values of almost everyone I know, and to the values of the residents of the Dunkirk and Calais Refugee Camps.
Beautiful fresh blue sky day at Heartwood. One kiln load of charcoal bagged and ready for Calais. Kiln loaded and set to burn again tomorrow.
Charcoal production in progress for taking to Calais next month , cutting up the the logs with a saw made in west Germany , a reminder of how we need to smash down walls, not build them !
Trip to Calais in early February to deliver a couple of kiln loads of charcoal is booked. Lots of little donations go a long way. If anyone wishes to donate, or help with filling and emptying of the kiln please contact us. Thanks x
Planning a trip to Calais in early January to deliver a couple of kiln loads of charcoal. As the Heartwood Project we produce barbecue charcoal as a bi-product of managing woodlands with traditional methods like coppicing. We want to donate this easily transportable, light weight, easily combustible, high temperature fuel to the refugee camps for cooking. If it proves to be a useful venture then the the trip can be repeated.
Will be gathering local sponsorship over coming weeks to cover travel costs. Lots of little donations go a long way. If anyone wishes to donate or help with filling and emptying of the kiln just pm us. Thanks x
