Despite originally being produced for the practical purpose of protecting books during transportation, dust jackets transformed over time into successful marketing tools, often exhibiting attractive and diverse illustrations.

Super-de-luxe binding of 'The Keepsake' (1830)
This contemporary binding of blue goatskin is a true statement of luxury. The covers, endleaves, and doublures have been elaborately decorated in gilt with individual tools and rolls.
This binding would make a beautiful addition to any bookshelf!

For all of the Tolkien fans out there...
Take a look at this stunning First Edition 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy, beautifully bound by Bayntun-Riviere. These crimson bindings have been intricately tooled, blocked, and lettered in red, green, and gold.
Unsurprisingly, this trilogy quickly found a new home, but do come into the shop and see all of the other beautiful bindings that we have to offer!
