Whether you are looking for architecture and civil engineering education in our renowned Department, research opportunities in the built environment or merely a glimpse into our philosophy, we hope your visit to our webpages is successful.
We have two upcoming talks being delivered by Prof Roberto Desimone as part of the Ignite+ Industry Insights series. Please consider registering and attending.
Thursday 7th March 12.15 – 14.15, with lunch: Developing successful industry R&D bids
Explore how to construct relevant bids/proposals for government and industry-focused R&D funds, including understanding what kinds of R&D tasks governments/industry are interested in funding (e.g. initial feasibility studies to comprehensive trials/capability demonstrations), covering Innovate UK, DSTL, Defence & Security Accelerator (DASA) and specific and speculative bids to industry. This will also cover how to approach industry for Letters of Support.
Friday 8th March 13.15 – 14.15: Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence
The scheme provides opportunities for enthusiastic, highly experienced industrial scientists and entrepreneurs to spend one day a week at a university developing a bespoke project with academics, research centres and departments. These ‘secondment’ schemes often lead on to high impact knowledge exchange activities. Bring along ideas for potential industry partners that could apply.

• Network with five companies representing a diverse range of careers and opportunities.
• Speak to HR colleagues to find out more about how to apply for graduate schemes, placements and internships.
Congratulations to Warren D'Souza - winner of 3D Reid Student PRize 2023.
Each UK school of architecture is able to nominate one outstanding design project each year for consideration by a panel of judges, selected by 3D Reid. The short-listed entrants have the opportunity to present their projects in person to the judging panel. The panel selected Warren’s final year Master of Architecture design project, “Threads of Time”, for this year’s prize.
Located at the heart of Udaipur, on the border of its historic Old City, the project seeks to revitalise the lost textile bazaar by reconnecting the city with its textile roots and paving a future for the growth of Indian craftsmanship.
Prof Alex Wright, who leads the final year MArch Studio project congratulated Warren, commenting, “Warren’s project was exceptional in many ways. It is a wonderful example of what truly holistic design thinking can offer. I’m delighted it’s received the recognition it deserves from the 3D Reid judges”. Warren is the third winner of this national competition from the Master of Architecture programme at the University of Bath in the last 10 years.

Young people from across the world can now apply to feature in ActNowFilm: young people in conversation with climate experts (https://www.bath.ac.uk/campaigns/actnowfilm-young-people-in-conversation-with-climate-experts/) – a new youth voices film produced by the University of Bath Institute for Policy Research (IPR) and Cambridge Zero, supported by the UK Universities Climate Network.
The film will feature exchanges between young people and internationally acclaimed climate experts, including leaders from indigenous communities and representatives from business, policy, the third sector and academia.
The aim is for this film to be presented to delegates at COP28, which will take place from 30 November to 12 December 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is intended to act as a clarion call for the inclusion of young people in the urgent climate debates and to expedite further action to protect humanity from the effects of the climate crisis.
ActNowFilm: young people in conversation with climate experts builds on the successes of two previous youth voices in climate change films (https://www.bath.ac.uk/projects/actnowfilm-project-amplifying-youth-voices-on-the-climate-crisis/), which were showcased to participants and negotiators at the most recent global climate change conferences, COP26
(Glasgow, Scotland) and COP27 (Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt), respectively.

Hello All,
Hope you are well.
I'm currently pursuing my final year project looking at the University's greenhouse gas (Scope 3) emissions.
The University of Bath currently has negligible data on student travel during the academic year. (For e.g., home visits, tourism, or any other travel during the academic year.) The results of this survey will help the University improve its understanding of student travel habits, and better estimate its Scope 3 emissions. The survey will also help the University enhance the student experience and also voice the student community.
You can also win gift vouchers worth £10, £20 or £50. You can enter the prize draw at the end of the survey. Winners will be announced by 30th May 2023.
