With the current marching season soon coming to a close we've already got our ideas and plans mapped out for year ahead. With that in mind we are now recruiting new (and old) members for all areas of the band, including a new male colour party.

We practice on a Wednesday evening from 7pm until 9pm at Whitecity Community Centre.

Our thoughts are with Thomas' Family and Friends today, and always.

The Whitewell Tartan Flute Band will be walking around Whitecity estate on Wednesday 4th September to mark the anniversary of the murder of Thomas McDonald. We will be walking at 7.30pm.

Bands that would like to send a representative to lay a wreath are welcome to walk with us on the night.

FRIDAY = PAYDAY

The Whitewell Tartan is running a last man standing competiton starting next Friday evening when the Premier League kicks off.

Entry fee is £10 and the current prize pot is sitting at £220.

This competition is being run on an app called "Tippd" which is free to download onto your phone where you can pick your selection each game week.

Yesterday we had an early start as we set off to Londonderry for the Relief of Derry celebrations.

We had a short parade down the Ormeau Road in the morning with the Belfast Walker Club, Ballynafeigh before heading up the road, parading Londonderry and returning back to the Ormeau Road for a walk back to the Ballynafeigh Orange Hall.

The sun was shining all day and a great day was had by all. 🇬🇧

Whitewell Tartan - Last Man Standing

The band will running a series of events to raise funds for a new uniform.

The first event is a Last Man Standing competition for the English Premier League, starting at the first weekend of fixtures covering 16th, 17th and 18th of August.

We will be running it through an app called "Tippd" that you can download to you phone and submit your weekly selection.

The entry fee is £10 and the funds raised will be split 50/50 between the winner of the competition and the band.

If you're interesting in taking part, comment below and we will be in touch with payment details and the link to join our group on the "Tippd" app.

There has been a fantastic response to this through the band members, friends and families so the prize fund is looking healthy already. We thank you for your continued support.

Leaving it late but we're still looking for a lodge for ABOD Relief of Derry parade.

Whitewell Tartan will be running a bus to the annual Sons of Ulster, Portrush parade on Saturday 20th July.

There is some space on the bus for guests to travel.

Bus will be leaving Whitecity Community Centre at 18:30 and returning Approx 23:00

If you would like to reserve a seat on the bus give us a message.

This is always a great spectacle with 1000s of people ascending to the small seaside town for one of the best parades in the parading calender.

Now that we've all recovered from the 12th day celebrations we would like to say a massive thank you to Queen Victoria Memorial Temperance LOL 700 for a great day. Fantastic hospitality once again from start to finish. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did.

As part of the festive celebrations we will be walking around Whitecity on Thursday 11th July and we would like to invite any children (or adults 🤷‍♂️) to join us for the evening to walk infront of the band.

We will be meeting at 5.45pm at the community centre and leaving there around 6pm

The Officers and Members of Whitewell Tartan Flute Band would like to extend our Deepest Sympathy to esteemed member Andy Moore on the untimely passing of his wife, Louise.

Our thoughts are with Andy and the entire Moore family circle at this time.

We're looking forward to the start of what is a busy few weeks for the band as we get into the peak of the marching season.

Tomorrow night we will accompany Queen Victoria Memorial Temperance L.O.L 700 for the annual Tour of the North parade.

Yesterday afternoon we took part in the Williamite Historical Society parade from Rathcoole to Whitehouse.

Thankfully the rain stayed off and it turned out to be a great afternoon. It was a pleasure to attend the parade once again. 🇬🇧

Band practice is on tomorrow night before our first outdoor parade of the year on Saturday.

It's been great to see some new (and older) faces through the door this year, new members always welcome for the season ahead.

A big thank you to those who turned out in the club last night for our indoor fundraiser, your continued support with these events is what keeps the band going.

May we also say big thank you to the 4 bands who came to show their support by playing for us on the night, each of you were excellent and it was a pleasure to have you in the club doing what you do best 👏

We would like to thank those who joined us on Monday to remember Thomas McDonald.

There was a fantastic turnout in the estate which we hope provides the family with some comfort in knowing that Thomas will never be forgotten.

We will be walking around Whitecity estate this evening, the anniversary of Thomas McDonald's murder.
