❣Change is way more doable than you think.
It doesn't take a giant shift... just a series of small changes you can repeat.❣
❤In my experience, weight is never just weight.
If you’re trying to lose weight , you need to know what else is hiding in those extra pounds.
👉Consider:Your weight may be helping you with a deeper issue
— Maybe you experienced an old trauma and your body holds onto weight to help you feel safer in the world.
— Or you’re in a difficult marriage and weight gives you something to focus on, instead of facing issues in your relationship.
— Or maybe you feel trapped in your job. Weight is something to stress about, instead of other changes you need to make.
Our hidden reasons for holding onto extra weight are often emotional!
✨What is YOUR hidden reason for holding onto extra weight?
Take notice of the things you tell yourself.
Are they things you would say to a friend or loved one? If you did say them to this friend, how do you think it would make them feel?
We are often our own worst critics and enemies.
Give yourself a break for being human and give yourself credit for all that you are.
Blaming yourself , hating yourself , shaming yourself for your weight will only keep you stuck in a mindset that will not bring about change. Accept where you are right now and realise you can choose to start moving towards being in a different place, a more positive mindset, but that comes from being on your own side, of wanting to feel more comfortable in yourself and of being kind to yourself. You are worth it , You deserve to feel good about yourself.
🌈Where is your focus?
Is it creating the weight loss and change you’re looking for?
If not, it may to time to shift your focus- to the things that are DRIVING the overeating in the first place.
It’s not the first place people look. Hell, sometimes it’s not a place they ever look.
But it’s the game changer. If we don’t know why we do what we do, we don’t stand a chance at sustaining long term changes.
If you need a coach, I’m your girl! I can help you make the shift where it matters so that you stop overeating for good 🙌🏼
On a scale of 1-10, how strong is your desire to lose weight?
When I was overweight I was dead-sure my desire was VERY strong. I mean, how else would you describe repetitious thoughts like, 'I'm too big' and 'I hate my body' that play over and over and over in your head, every day, for YEARS, right? 🙄
Isn't that a strong desire???
But what I didn't know then that I know now is that when you have a strong desire to lose weight and you focus it all on willpower to eat less and exercise more, you set yourself up for a vicious cycle of self-sabotage - because willpower ALWAYS FAILS. ❌
And it fails because we're only using a mere 10% of our minds - the other 90% that works against us is completely subconscious! 🤨
We never know WHY we can't seem to choose the apple over the muffin at the cafe for lunch again and again, even though we THINK we'd give ANYTHING to lose weight!
There's simply SO much more going on behind our eating habits that we aren't aware of. This is why the only way to break this cycle of self-sabotage is to upgrade our minds FIRST. We must understand the deeper reasons why we go to the food and why we get triggered to wreck our progress, over and over. ⚡️
We must remove the subconscious blocks that keep us stuck.
Weight loss isn't always easy!
There will be some hard truths you need to accept to achieve your goals.
Once you’re able to accept and embody these truths, your journey will become easier because you’ll be prepared for the inevitable challenges.
Check out 2 of the hardest pills to swallow that are necessary to understand to create a healthier life:
1. To reach ANY goal in life (including weight loss and becoming healthier), you need to accept that your journey won’t always be easy. You need to learn how to show up for yourself and take action on the hard days, especially when you don’t feel motivated. EVERYONE who loses weight or creates a healthier life hits bumps in the road. Prepare for setbacks and challenges to happen, and create a game plan ahead of time for when these challenges arise.
2. Most vegetables don’t taste as delicious as cookies, or chips, or ice cream, or candy… And they probably never will! Here’s why — processed foods (including desserts) taste so damn delicious because they contain added sugar, fats, and carbs, which means they contain more calories and fewer nutrients than vegetables. These foods are created by food manufacturers to taste delicious and leave you wanting more. Natural foods, like vegetables, are packed with nutrients and contain less calories than processed foods, which helps you to feel more energized and more full. Yet they don’t always taste as delicious as foods packed with sugar and fats.
Friendly lil' reminder - this doesn't mean that you can never enjoy cookies or chips or ice cream and lose weight!!! Instead, I'm trying to highlight the idea that food companies add plenty of less-nutritious ingredients to processed foods so THAT they taste amazing! Remember that you can fit ANY food into a sensible nutrition plan, as long as most of your food choices come from nutritious foods.
At the end of the day, losing weight and becoming healthier means choosing foods that promote optimal health at times, versus *always* choosing foods based on your cravings or because they taste amazing.
Always worthwhile remembering !...Judging yourself , giving yourself a hard time , minimizes your motivation, which lessens your change of success !!❤
Waiting for Monday ? A new Week ? Well here it is !!!...and it's as good a day as any to begin the journey towards where you want to be !!!
Set one goal this week that moves you closer to your health & weight goals...focus on one meal today , go for a walk , make it simple, achievable, begin with the simplest of changes , its being conscious of the choices we are making that brings about a change in our habits and routines.
❤Real talk - when it comes to losing weight and improving your health you are your own worst enemy.⠀
⠀
If you don't believe you can achieve something, you never will.⠀
⠀
It can happen for any number of reasons. But if your goal doesn't line up with your personal beliefs, you will really struggle to see success.⠀
⠀
If you say yes to any of the 7 items on this list - you're sabotaging yourself. Subconsciously at least.⠀
⠀
Our brains store a lot of information. Our past experiences, failures, rejections, comments from others. ⠀
⠀
They all form part of the story we create for and about ourselves.⠀
⠀
If you're trying to change something in your life. Your brain will seek comfort in what it knows. So you will actually work against you, stopping you from re-writing that story and those beliefs. ⠀
⠀
All to keep you "safe".⠀
⠀
So, regardless of what you want to achieve, until you begin to change what you believe about yourself you will always find ways to work against yourself.⠀
⠀
Take some time today to write down everything you believe about yourself.⠀
⠀
What do you need to let go of? What's holding you back?⠀
⠀
Be kind to yourself. Making changes isn't easy.⠀
⠀
Reward your wins and remind yourself that you can do this.
It doesn't have to be a Monday !!!.....It doesnt have to be a set day or week ....You can choose right now , the next meal, to start making choices that bring you closer to where you want to be , it's the mindset , its the switch and that can happen anytime you choose. So why not right now? ❤
If you’re a beginner: do ONE thing every day to demonstrate to yourself that you’re the kind of person who takes action when you want to achieve your goals.
Maybe it’s a 5-minute walk (what are you waiting for? Go do it).
Maybe it’s drinking a glass of water (get up, go to the kitchen, right now, grab a glass, fill it up, and drink).
Maybe it’s eating a piece of fruit (that apple’s looking good - go take a bite).
Just do one thing , build one habit, achieve one goal.
And yes, over time we can slowly build on those habits, making each one slightly more effective than the last.
But don’t worry about that right now.
Right now, just do *something*.
The first step is always the hardest 👟
Finding that first burst of motivation when you may not be feeling very good about yourself right now.
All you have to commit to this day .....what can you do today to move you closer to your ideal weight and maximum health ?
Focus on one meal
Go for a walk
Make a menu plan
It's about making choices daily and consistently that make change happen 🙌🙌
Here’s the thing: if you call a food “bad” you’re attaching value to it.
In this case, a negative value.
And if you try really hard to avoid “bad food” but just can’t control yourself around it, then of course you’re going to feel like sh*t when you give in and eat some - or, in most cases, a lot.
Of course you’re going to feel guilt.
Of course you’re going to feel shame.
Because eating “bad” food is going to make YOU feel like a “bad” person.
Listen.
You’re not a bad person.
You’re just a person trying to figure out their relationship with food.
And step one is to stop calling food “bad”.
You should also stop calling food “good”.
Food is either “less nutritious” or “more nutritious”.
And step two: include “less nutritious” food in your regular diet.
Get up to 20% of your daily calories from less nutritious food.
Plan it.
Eat it consciously and intentionally.
Normalize it.
And watch how much easier it becomes to control.
Choose one goal , one change you can make this week and achieve every day , make it simple and achievable, Drink more water, add more fruit or veg to one meal of the day , do 20 mins of exercise, small consistent changes , achieving regular goals , all add up to a change in mindset 😊😊😊
It's not about trying to run up a mountain all at once , or looking at the ultimate goal which just a lot of the time then feels unattainable, it's about taking it a day ....a week at a time , it's the consistency that adds up , it's the small consistent steps in the right direction that do get you to where you want to be, just think of where you could be a year from now, heading away on holidays, heading into the summer feeling healthy and comfortable in the body that you want and have achieved 🙌😊🙌
⭐⭐SIX WAYS TO AVOID SNACKING⭐⭐
1️⃣Have set meal times - this will ensure that you do not keep eating outside of the times that you are supposed to, and is the most obvious step to stop unnecessary snacking
-
2️⃣ Eat nutritious food, high in protein, fibre and micronutrients. This will ensure your body doesn’t keep craving snacks
-
3️⃣ Hide your snacks! If they’re in plain sight it’ll be a lot easier to get hold of them or even better dont have them in the house at all , you cant eat what you dont have especially if they are trigger foods.
-
4️⃣ Evenly space out your meals - this helps you to stay satisfied throughout the day and will stop a desperate binge
-
5️⃣ Make sure you stay hydrated as being dehydrated can make you more prone to snacking. Drinking also takes up space in your stomach making you feel less hungry!
-
6️⃣ Planning your meals in advance will help to ensure that you don’t stray from the plan that you’ve created, and avoid snacking
You cant change or create new habits if you dont recognise your current ones and the ways in which they could be holding you back from your weight goals.
⭐BOUNDARIES⭐
Ever heard the saying, "You can't pour from an empty cup?"
It's 100% true.
If you're always tending to everyone else's priorities, then how are you ever supposed to have time to make yourself a priority?
I'll answer: you won't.
That's why the first step towards building consistency with your fitness plan is to make it a TOP priority in your life.
That means planning your workouts, meals, grocery shopping, and other health-related activities first and letting everything else fit around them.
And it doesn't have to be a huge time commitment.
It can be a few workouts per week first thing in the morning before everyone else gets up or five minutes of planning your next day's meals before you shut off for the night.
Some planning > no planning.
⭐ACCOUNTABILITY⭐
The end goal is to have self-discipline with fitness.
But self-discipline takes time to create, and that's why accountability is so important at first.
Accountability can come in many different ways...
It can come from investing in a coach, joining a Facebook group, meeting a friend at the gym after work...
What matters is that you find a way to make your commitment bigger than yourself.
Because when the going gets tough, and you feel like quitting, you're going to need someone or something to keep you accountable and remind you why you're prioritizing yourself in the first place.🙌🙌🙌
⭐Mindset shift!🙌🙌🙌
⭐Workout & diet because you LOVE your body, not because you HATE your body.
⭐Don’t hate your body! It’s perfectly made the way it is CURRENTLY.
⭐Not when you lose that extra 5lbs…
⭐Not when you lose that extra 15lbs…
⭐not when you lose that extra 50lbs…
⭐It’s perfect the way it is RIGHT NOW.
However… I do understand…
It’s so easy to be frustrated and dislike the way that we look CURRENTLY… and then roll our eyes and force ourselves to go workout and go on a diet…. Sound about right?
Dreading the entire process…🙃
Feeling like it’s something we just HAVE to do… 😫
Feeling like it’s just a task we hate doing...😪
Feeling like we need to find the motivation to get started again...😔
But when you have this mindset shift…
Starting to workout & dieting because you love your body, not because you HATE your body...
It shifts you into a place where you’ll learn to love your body…
You’ll learn to take care of your body…
You’ll learn that you don’t NEED to lose weight… but you’ll start WANTING to because you value yourself, you value your health, and you value your overall well being.
You’ve got one body for the rest of your life, isnt it time you learned to love it ❤
You've decided that you want to lose weight.⠀
⠀
You stock up on healthy foods, planned out your meals carefully and then...you don't see any real results.⠀
⠀
Sound familiar?⠀
⠀
Unfortunately, it can often take a bit more than that to lose weight.⠀
⠀
You more than likely need to break a few bad habits before you'll start to see real results on the scale or with your body.⠀
⠀
The first step in breaking any bad habit is identifying that you have it.⠀
⠀
Take a read through the 10 habits I've listed below - these are the most common ones I find with my online clients.⠀
⠀
These habits may seem harmless. But they can add a lot of empty calories to your diet.⠀
⠀
Left unchecked, these untracked extra calories can easily undo all the efforts you've taken and leave you feeling stuck.⠀
⠀
See if any of these sound familiar. ⠀
⠀
If they do - pick 1-2 that you want to tackle.⠀
⠀
It's important you don't try to change too much too quickly.⠀
⠀
Set up a plan to stop these habits and stick to it. ⠀
⠀
Somedays you may struggle, but that's okay. It's part of the process.⠀
⠀
If you're finding it especially tough, or want to talk about how you can swap these bad habits for better ones - just send me a message ❤
You’re worth putting effort into.❤
Your health is worth prioritizing.⭐
Your dreams are worth pursuing.😊
Time is only going to continue to pass by.
We can’t get yesterday back no matter how hard we try.
All we have is today - what will you decide to do with it? Stay where you are or move towards where you want to be.
Just remember, it is a complete LIE that you DON’T have control. It is a complete LIE that you don’t have a choice. If we really want something, we make everything possible happen to go after it or we find excuses.
12 Weeks = mid July = Sun shining (hopefully!lol) , wearing the clothes you want, looking good and feeling great 😎😎🌞🌞❤❤
Believe in yourself. Believe you can do this. Believe you are worth it. Take that step towards a better tomorrow..you won’t regret it! 😊❤😊
Thought I would do a quick Intro and tell you my Body Transformation Story ❤.
I'm Lisa , I'm 40 , mum of 5 , and until 2 years ago had never had a healthy positive relationship with food or my body , it was either one extreme or the other , I ate too much or too little and was never happy with what I saw in the mirror. After baby number 2 in 2003 my weight just gradually increased so that when my daughter was born in 2016 I was the heaviest I'd ever been and just not looking after my body at all , rubbish diet and no exercise , everything was a chore , I had zero energy and zero confidence. In 2017 after a health scare and treatment for precancerous cells I realised that the weight I was carrying was not just having an impact on how I felt but my health as well and I needed to get serious about making changes.
Between January 2018 and November 2019 I lost 7 stone , and have now been at my target weight for 18 months , to say it's been life changing is an understatement!!.But through the process of loosing the weight I realised it was about so much more than diet and exercise , it was about self care , making myself a priority , acknowledging my feelings towards my body and myself and truly transforming how I looked after myself inside and out. I decided then that I wanted if I could to support other people to go on their own body transformation journey. I am a qualified life coach and have a diploma in diet and nutrition but most importantly I've been in those shoes , I've felt that discomfort and disconnect from my body , but there is another way, to truly love , care , accept and nurture yourself and your body and live the life you truly deserve ❤
