⭐️BT8 PARENTS⭐️
As part of an IAIM UK Infant Massage Instructors training course you are invited to attend some baby massage classes which are being offered FREE to parents with babies from birth to one year.
You will be the only person massaging your baby as the instructors demonstrate the strokes on their doll. You will learn how simple strokes may help your baby with wind or constipation and how important your touch is in supporting the bonding process and your baby’s physical and emotional development.
Ivanhoe Hotel
556 Saintfield Road
Belfast BT8 8EU
Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th & Thursday 25th July
2.00pm. – 3.00pm
You are welcome to arrive from 1.45 pm.
You are welcome to come to all 3 classes which normally take place within a 5-week course.
As you will be sitting on the floor, please wear comfortable clothing. Also please bring a small towel for your baby to lie on and a baby blanket to use if necessary. There will be mats and cushions to sit on and we will provide the massage oil. You will receive a bottle of oil and handouts to take away with you.
Please still come even if you think your baby will sleep or feed during the allocated time. There are spare dolls to practice on and a lot can still be gained by seeing other babies being massaged, hearing about the benefits and socialising with other parents.
Places are limited so book asap via email to Caroline Roberts on [email protected] or call/text 07368 250505 to book your place.
We look forward to seeing you and your baby there 💜

Good read for those with bambinos with reflux ⬇️
A study back in 1990 (Orenstein 1990) observed 48 babies all of whom had been diagnosed with reflux. 24 of the babies were positioned on their tummy continuously for 2 hours following a feed. The other 24 were positioned in a seated position continuously for 2 hours following a feed. The babies who were on their tummies cried for about half the time of those who were sitting, and they slept for about twice the length of time as the babies who were in a seated position.
Young babies are actually like other small mammals, and are really designed to spend time on their tummies. When on their tummies they are calmer and more regulated. I’ve had lots of consults where we’ve tried out tummy time after a feed and babies have been perfectly happy (much to the parent’s surprise) - but that’s not to say that tummy time needs to be on the floor. For a young baby, tummy time is on a body. A baby on their tummy against your chest / over your shoulder is in tummy time. Keeping your baby in your arms or popping them in a sling after a feed is a great way to keep them regulated, calm and to reduce reflux and it is TOTALLY fine to contact nap!!! This is where young babies physiologically expect to feed.
Lots of parents do keep their refluxy babies up on their shoulder after feeds. The received wisdom is that it helps because the baby is upright. I’m not totally convinced that’s the only reason - because then the seated position should work too. I think it’s very likely that it helps because it’s where babies feel most calm and regulated and that is what reduces the reflux (more calm = tighter sphincter at the top of the stomach).
Tummy time also helps babies to wriggle, self massage their tummies and to burp or pass gas.

This wonderful new local charity has been set up to support families who have children with Down Syndrome. I know some of these families personally and they would greatly appreciate as much love and support as possible.
Give them a like and share on social media and if you can spare a few pounds to help get the charity up and running please donate via the link below ⬇️
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Together21-NI?utm_term=NdkQ9NVp6
The beginning…
In February 2023 a group of parents met for coffee in Belfast City Centre. All of us, being a parent of a child with Down syndrome, chatted on the range of support and social opportunities available in those early days of receiving a diagnosis to the present day.
We all agreed we needed more and from here Together 21 Northern Ireland formed.
We have families involved from birth with the majority ranging in ages 0-5 and in the Belfast area. However, we have families from other towns and cities in NI - Antrim, Larne, Bangor, Newtownards, Ballymena, Lisburn.
Our primary aim is to support each other, share information, create opportunities for families to socialise and learn together.
In time we hope to extend to offer advice sessions as well as external training events for parents. We will always commit to being a parent and child led group ensuring the services match the needs of families.
We have close links with Positive about Down Syndrome, using their online support, resources and services. We are also affiliated with the Down Syndrome Association.
We are an inclusive support group who are enthusiastic and passionate advocates for our children.
Please follow along and learn from the experts on living with someone with Down syndrome 🫶🥰 💙💛
Wishing you all a wonderful Easter with your wee chicks 🐣🐰💐🌷
April class confirmations will be sent out towards the end of next week 🙌
April Baby Massage & Baby Movers courses are now fully booked.
Just 5 spaces remaining for May Baby Massage.
Thank you all for your ongoing support 🧡
Looking forward to eating my chocolate egg tomorrow, mines a Cadbury Fruit and Nut…what’s yours? 🐣🐰

Can you help?
"The Western Trust’s Human Milk Bank service based at the South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen is making a fresh appeal for more donor mums to come forward and help to provide essential lifesaving donor breast milk for babies in Neonatal Units in hospitals throughout the whole of Ireland in 2024!"
For the mums unable to express, their babies will be getting donated breastmilk, and our babies are exactly those that take priority when deciding who the milk goes to!👩🏻🍼💛💜
