New research shows that the Connswater Community Greenway has had a huge positively impact on those living nearby.

The eight year study looked at life before and after the installation of the £40 million greenway, which has created 9km of walking and cycling routes across east Belfast, as well as a host of new community facilities.

It found that, as well as cleaning up local rivers and protecting 1,700 properties from flooding, visitor numbers along the greenway have doubled since the project - part funded by us - began.

It has also exceeded targets for people taking part in activities along the route and, for every £1 invested in the scheme, it will generate a £4 return, based on the boost provided to businesses, through extra footfall, tourism and jobs.

If you haven't visited the greenway yet, download the map at www.connswatergreenway.co.uk
