What is Enzyme Therapy?

Enzyme Therapy is a results-based facial treatment that utilises plant-based enzymes to exfoliate dead skin-cells, flush the skin with oxygen and promote healing and generation of new skin cells.

Our DMK Enzyme Therapy is typically performed in a series of 6-8 treatments, ideally undertaken weekly, or fortnightly depending on your skin condition. Your DMK NI Therapist will create a plan to suit your skin goals.

During the 45 minutes the masque is on our Signature Enzyme creates a process called ‘reverse osmosis’, which helps to flush out toxins from the skin, while encouraging blood circulation bringing fresh oxygen to the area and improving lymphatic drainage, for optimal skin function…yes please!

May is National Skin Cancer and Melanoma Awareness Month. It’s always important to check your skin for any suspicious mole or lesions.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the Uk & Ireland, with over 13,000 new cases diagnosed every year.

The ABCDEs of melanoma skin cancer are:

• Asymmetry. One half doesn’t match the appearance of the other half.

• Border irregularity. The edges are ragged, notched, or blurred.

• Colour. The colour (pigmentation) is not uniform. Shades of tan, brown, and black are present. Dashes of red, white, and blue add to a mottled appearance.

• Diameter. The size of the mole is greater than 6 mm (1/4 inch), about the size of a pencil eraser. Any growth of a mole should be evaluated.

• Evolution. There is a change in the size, shape, symptoms (such as itching or tenderness), surface (especially bleeding), or colour of a mole.

If you’re ever unsure about a mole, lesion, or blemish on your skin always get it checked!!!

April is Rosacea Awareness Month 🌹

What is rosacea?

Rosacea is a common, chronic inflammatory response in the skin, in most cases it affects facial skin, but can spread if left untreated. It can have weeks or months of remission and then flare ups, each individual case will vary. Extremely common in Irish skin (yep!) 1 in 10 adults may have some form of Rosacea.

Types of Rosacea: there are 4 types of Rosacea that vary from symptoms to severity.

🌹Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea - AIR-RYMATO-TALANGIA-TAC -This is the mildest and most common form.
🌹Papulopustular Rosacea -This kind of Rosacea causes the face to swell, redden, and form white, pus-filled bumps on your chin, cheeks, forehead, scalp, neck and chest. With mild to moderate damaged capillaries.
🌹Phymatous Rosacea (Rhinophyma) - This particularly nasty version of Rosacea makes skin scar and thicken. Well known here as “whiskey nose”.
🌹Ocular Rosacea - As you might have guessed, this type affects the eyes, making them look bloodshot or causing them to water without any apparent reason.

Causes & triggers of rosacea?

The exact cause of rosacea still remains unclear, but, a number of theories have been presented, which include the possible role of genetics, bacteria, immune system factors, dietary triggers, environmental triggers and the Demodex mite.

Some triggers can make symptoms worse:

🍷 Alcohol
🌶️ Spicy foods
🧀 Cheese
☕️ Caffeine
🫖 Hot drinks
🍅 Nightshade
🏃‍♀️ Aerobic exercise like running
