When qualifying as an SMT the pass criteria includes delivering a consultation and devising a treatment plan, therefore this forms a crucial part of every treatment for a number of essential reasons.

Do you wake up with neck or back pain?
If you’re waking up in pain that you don’t feel during the day, then your sleep position is likely playing a role.
If you have neck pain, stiffness, or soreness when you wake up in the morning, consider:
Sleep posture. Sleeping on your stomach with your head twisted to one side is a recipe for neck strain. But sleeping in any position can be a problem if your neck isn’t sufficiently supported.
Pillow choice. If your pillow is too high or too low, too firm or too soft, your head will bend away from the neutral spine position. Finding the right pillow to support you head and neck whilst maintaining neutral spine.
To get a comfortable night of sleep, your mattress needs to be adequately supported. A mattress with ergonomic standards and the right level of firmness may help promote better sleep, typically by providing an even surface and reducing body aches and pains.
Excessively firm or soft mattresses can cause back pain and aches in other areas of the body. For example,:
A firm mattress can disturb your neck and back support and lead to the concentration of stresses on your shoulder joint, causing pain and stiffness.
A soft mattress may cause your pelvic area to sag in due to your body weight, causing your upper body to be pulled out of alignment.
A medium-firm mattress is generally accepted as a supportive option.

Uneven Shoulders:
Client who is a delivery driver came in today with uneven shoulders and pain.
Have you ever looked in the mirror and noticed that you have one shoulder higher than the other?
It may look as if you are shrugging your shoulder on one side, however, you know for sure that you’re relaxing both sides equally.
So what’s the problem?
Well before you begin to curse your own body, you can be assured that this is, in fact, a common problem.

Fixing uneven shoulders is something that you want to address and not leave uncorrected.
Not only can it look a tad weird, but it can also cause neck and shoulder pain and leave you vulnerable to developing shoulder injuries in the future.

Contrary to popular belief the Ketogenic diet isn’t magic.
It’s a restrictive diet, meaning it should work!
Within a keto diet, the idea is you eradicate carbohydrates from the diet, allowing the body to fall into a ketogenic state, thus leading the body to convert its own stored energy (fat) to carbohydrates to provide fuel.
Whilst as a nation we potentially should be consuming less carbohydrates (or better sources) completely eradicating them from the diet isn’t sustainable, could harm performance and actually isn’t needed for weight loss.
The simple science behind the diet is the fact that one following such a diet will restrict a food group and therefore reduce calories. Whether one chooses to eradicate protein (DON’T) or fats (DON’T) the results will be the same, a reduction in calories...
What’s more, a ketogenic diet requires the consumer to eat more fats, to replace the carbohydrates which defeats the object of calorie reduction (Fats are twice as energy dense than carbohydrates per gram - 9 vs 4)
When it all comes down to it, the only thing that is needed is a reduction in calories... Not magic!
