We are one of several Birmingham Open Studio collection hubs spread across the city and probably the most convenient place to grab your copy of their guidebook! To know who is participating and where. If we do run out at any point, we'll be topped up tout suite.

This year marks our third year participating, and we’re beyond excited to have our very own Chez joining in the fun (he’s number 40 in the guidebook!). He’ll have a display of his work in the gallery, switching it up and joining the amazing artists we collaborate with. Come by, say hi, and have a chat with Chez about his creative process!

BEGINNING + CONCLUDING

We are thrilled to share with you two original artworks by Sam Weeks. Following the launch of her Hermetic Principles Collection in May 2023, Sam has spent the past year honing her style and practice. It's with great pleasure that we welcome her return.

Sam Weeks' diptych, titled "Beginning" and "Concluding," delves into the dynamic contrast between light and shadow, embodying the commencement and culmination of a day, a voyage, or an endeavour. 
In both paintings, a circle is symmetrically positioned within and almost fills the square canvas. This motif in Sam's recent work draws inspiration from the I Ching's symbolism. The I Ching or Book of Changes, an ancient Chinese oracle and one of the oldest Chinese texts, informs her art, prompting contemplation and equilibrium. 

Cloud formations, a new prominent feature in Sam’s latest pieces, symbolise the ephemeral occurrences that drift through our existence, sometimes casting shadows or potentially nourishing rain.

The walk commences at Moseley Road Baths in Balsall Heath, and under Tom's guidance, we'll journey to the gallery. Here, you'll gain insights into Tom's ongoing projects and view his work on display, including a new, locally inspired print!

Meet the work of Claire Buckerfield!

Claire’s work is a neon rebellion, and a celebration of the mundane and seemingly insignificant. Her inspiration is the city around her. She immerses herself in urban environments, sketching on-site, capturing the essence of the spaces she encounters

Back in her studio, the magic unfolds. She layers industrial tape and ribbon, weaving texture and depth into her creations. It’s hands-on alchemy where she experiments with form and composition, resulting in dynamic and engaging pieces. Claire's distinctive approach encourages everyone to view their everyday surroundings from a fresh perspective and to find beauty in the banal.

We are very happy to now have several prints by Claire in the gallery. Come in and check out Mooj, Pung! and The 9!

Join acclaimed artist Tom Hicks on a guided Photo Walk around the Balsall Heath and Moseley areas.

Our Moseley Meander commences at Moseley Road Baths in Balsall Heath. Under Tom’s guidance, we’ll journey to the gallery on St Mary's Row, where you’ll gain insights into Tom’s ongoing projects and view his work on display, including a new, locally inspired print.

We've been lucky enough to be working with Tom for more than a year now, and he has undoubtedly become an integral part of Seventh Circle's fabric!

This is an opportunity to try your hand at urban photography. The event will be laid back and open to all—no previous photography experience is needed. Simply bring along your smartphone or camera.

Next week is shaping up to be a busy one at Seventh Circle! We have not one but two launches on the horizon. First, we’re over the moon to welcome Kate Brinkworth to our Circle. Second, we’re unveiling a brand-new collection of originals from the wonderful Bobbie Whittaker. And if that wasn’t enough, we have another exciting announcement, hopefully coming tomorrow!

Bobbies’ new collection The Seasons of the Forest has been a while in the making, we are so happy to be able to share it! To whet your appetite, here’s a sweet little teaser. Expect plenty of gorgeous texture, vibrant colours inspired by nature, and lashings of gold, silver, and copper leaf.

Although it’s not our first time with a Damien Hirst piece, it still remains a pinch-me moment for us!

His work consistently pushes the boundaries between art, science, and religion, making him a prominent artist of his generation.

For our client’s Damien Hirst limited edition, they wanted sleek, so we chose a bevelled Zen frame, black conservation board, float-mounted, and finished with museum glass. For the Love of God, you have to admit it looks $100 million. 💀

Today is the last day for artists to sign up for

For those who may not be familiar, Birmingham Open Studios is an art trail that runs every Autumn. Birmingham Open Studios allows artists and crafters of all experience to display their craft from their own homes or working studios. The public can view all of the artists’ work – for free – providing an insight into the artist’s lives and creative processes. The ethos of Birmingham Open Studios is to promote creativity in the area, with a focus on community cohesion. Here at Seventh Circle, we second that motion. 👏🙌🫶

So, as the leaves start to change, we will be opening up the workshop behind the gallery and inviting you to step into Chez creative space. He not only frames your wonderful artwork in our workshop but also creates his own. You’ll also have the chance to see his latest works in progress.

Dates for the diary are - 28th and 29th September and 5th and 6th October – mark them in now! 🖊📆📱

With pink, peach and gold threads, Imogen created Marilyn’s portrait, capturing her timeless style as well as symbolising the glamour Hollywood Golden Era.
