Covid-19: Sites set out for Birmingham memorial gardens 27/01/2022

Good Evening we have some important news , here at Spitfire Services we have been working hard on a number of things. The last 2 years of the pandemic has been difficult. Our very own Jane Roche who is Deputy CEO at Spitfire Services has been campaigning for Covid 19 justice for families enquiry it’s because of Janes hard work that Castle Vale will not only have a memorial garden, but it will be the first in Birmingham. Raymond Goodwin CEO at Spitfire Services said we are very pleased to say thanks to Janes hard work this has happened.

Welsh House Farm Big Local Partnership setup a free 0800 welfare support helpline in conjunction with Spitfire Services. We know since it's inception it has directly helped and supported a number of residents right across the area.

You can pick up a copy of the leaflet directly from the Keystone Children’s Center reception area. Just call our Big Local office number on 0121 427 4193 and we will call you back.

All conversations to the helpline remain confidential to you. 👇

It is with great sadness that we are posting this, we have lost a dear friend, Jack Dromey MP.
Jack was one of a kind. compassionate, caring, fearless, and always standing up for his constituents, and championing causes that needed fighting.
He was forever calling us a remarkable organisation who helped many people, but the truth is he was the remarkable one.
We never saw him as Jack Dromey MP more as “our Jack” who became part of Spitfire and the wider Castle Vale family. In the coming months with our partners at Pioneer Housing and the Castle Vale Community Council, we will find a way of celebrating the remarkable achievements of our friend and Colleague
We are heartbroken by the loss of our friend. Our Thoughts are with Jacks family at this sad time
RIP Our Jack.

Do you receive Universal Credit, or did you receive any at any time during the pandemic? If so, then you might need to take some urgent action to avoid having to pay it back.

The DWP relaxed some of their verification rules during the lockdowns, but they have decided to go back and recheck some of the claims to make sure the awards were correct. You should check your Universal Credit electronic journal frequently to see if the DWP have asked for more information (even if you no longer claim). If you don’t provide the information requested you may have to pay back some or all of the money you were awarded.

If you need help with benefits advice, in partnership with our friends at Spitfire Services we offer a free and confidential money advice service for our tenants and residents of Castle Vale. Please give us a call if you would like a referral.

Looking forward to working with our Friends at welsh house farm big local providing support to an amazing community

Welsh House Farm Big Local Chairperson Graham met up with Ray and Jane from Spitfire Services who we work in partnership to offer a confidential welfare advice line via a free 0800 number.

Over £35,000 welfare claimed income has directly benefitted over 20 people from across the area validates the Big Local partnership initial investment to setup the service.

We see this kind of tailored service being crucual in supporting residents in need over the coming months and hope to anounce more support for Welsh House Farm residents in the very near future.
