🥳 WE ARE TEN 🥳

Unless you’ve taken a social media break recently, you’ll know that we are celebrating ESY’s 10th Birthday this month!

Each day I’m sharing photos from a year or two of the journey and today is all about 2020/2021.

2019 ended with another trip to India (so glad to have got one in before the travel ban, a few months later).

2020 started with a wonderful Yoga Supper Club with Dee’s Kitchen AND Yin Yoga accompanied by a live harpist 😍. Then we all know what happened next…

Day Retreats turned to online Retreats (with an at-home afternoon tea platter), classes went on Zoom and weekend Retreats (including our first Spanish one, got cancelled!)

My days were spent teaching online - sooooooo many classes on Zoom during that time and making stuff on my sewing machine (see the pink jumper photo).

2021 bought weekend Retreats back, but with restrictions. I ended up teaching the same class twice on Retreats every day, to make sure we could spread mats apart from each other and mealtimes were a bit of a jigsaw puzzle too, but we got through it!

2017-2019, all the fun stuff before 2020 came along and life looked a little bit different… Crazy to think Zoom Yoga wasn’t even on the radar at this point!

🥳 WE ARE TEN! 🥳

The celebrations continue 🤣

2017 I moved into a bigger room at Holly Lane and was super surprised that I filled it! This year also bought my first Retreat, which I charged £250 for and was still so nervous that nobody would book!!!

My post-Retreat ritual of going away somewhere the weekend after a Retreat started this year, with a trip to Glastonbury (which then led me to doing my Karma Yoga there).

Loads of memories from Yoga poses on the beach, teaching Yoga at a Yurt in a festival and loads of Soundbaths on Retreats & at classes!

It’s (still, after all the celebrations) hard to believe that ESY is 10 this month!!!

Thank you to everyone who has been to a class, a workshop, an event, a course, a day or weekend Retreat - I really couldn’t have done it without you!

It was so lovely to celebrate everything with have achieved on Saturday together. Seeing people connecting (and reconnecting after a long time apart) in real life was so lovely to see 😍.

😴 Pppfff, I’m feeling seriously tired today! 😴

Not sure if it’s something going on astrologically, or the lovely warm weather or just that I’ve got quite a few plates spinning at the minute, but I am TIRED!

Sometimes, just a simple Positive Affirmation can be just what you need.

Today, I do my best.

I’m getting things done slowly, I’m taking a rest if/when I need it and I’m doing the best that I can today.

Tomorrow we start again!

🧁 Do you know the muffin man?! 🧁

Trying to combine my love of baking with some more nutritious treats!

When I used to work in the city centre I LOVED Pret’s blueberry breakfast muffins (and their posh cheddar and pickle baguettes 🤤🤤🤤), so now I’m not anywhere a Pret-a-manger it was time to experiment!

These muffins are made with oats and are packed full of blueberries. They are refined sugar free and taste delicious (even if they did make a mess of my baking tin!)

Do you ever struggle with concentration and motivation?

For me, the times I struggle most as a busy woman is when I’ve got a million ideas and things going on, but feel overwhelmed at how/where to start. I know I’ve got loads of things to do, I just don’t know how to start doing the things that needs doing 🤣.

It’s so important to stay organised and manage time well if we want to be the best we can be AND keep concentration and motivation at an all-time high.

I know for me, I need to write a list of my top priority tasks and make sure that I schedule in some R&R time too! Otherwise I end up working, working, working and not actually making anytime for myself.

💫 It’s Mon-yay! 💫

How are you going into this new week? Are you open to receive?

What does that even mean?!

For me, I find giving much easier than receiving and I’m not just talking about gifting something here - I’m talking about giving my time, ideas, support, advice etc.

I find receiving makes me VERY uncomfortable (but it’s something I’m working on!) I’m exceptionally good at brushing off compliments (“oh this old thing?”) or downplaying my achievements (“I just got lucky!”)

But giving and receiving are Yin & Yang and we need to find balance between the two, however uncomfortable & vulnerable it makes us feel.

So if you feel similar to me, try starting this week being open to receive - this could be a smile from a stranger or a compliment about your skills, or even being let in to the supermarket queue.

The more you see it, the more you see it!

What does being in the present moment mean to you?

For me? It means not worrying about or catastrophising future events (goodbye anxiety!) and not overthinking past events (why did Jo from accounts not say hi to me this morning? She must HATE me!)

It’s about taking a rest if I need it, or eating that slice of cake because I want it and not worrying what others might think about me.

Of course I slip into old habits sometimes and start panicking about events that aren’t even happening yet, but I find using my affirmations really help me to stay grounded, less stressed and ultimately more present.

As Gabrielle once sang, dreams can come true… and what better day to start making your dreams a reality, than a MONDAY?!!

I know Monday isn’t most people’s favourite day of the week, but why isn’t it?! What makes you dislike a certain day of the week? Is it because you’re back at work? You want more free time? You want to work less? You want to work doing something that really makes you feel GOOD?

Instead of loathing Mondays, how about we change the narrative and use the start of the week as a springboard towards our dreams?

Today, set yourself some tasks to do throughout the week that are small & not overwhelming, but are going to get you closer to whatever it is that you’re dreaming of.

Maybe you want to retire and need to put things in place to start making that a reality.

Maybe you want to change career and need to do some further training to do that.

Maybe you want to move house and there are few bits and bobs that need sorting before you can sell.

Whatever it is, make Monday your day where your give yourself permission to follow your dreams 💜.
