Meet Billy-Bob 🧡🤍😺

Yet another entire stray in need of help!

This handsome boy came into us recently after his finders were concerned for his safety. He was ravenously hungry and kept trying to enter people's homes for food 😢. He was also very vulnerable to the main road he was straying on.

Billy-Bob has settled in well with us and is a very sweet loving young boy 🥰

He has now been neutered and started his vaccinations but is not yet ready for rehoming as he will be fully assessed when he moves out of isolation and into our main cattery.

We are sure this boy will be popular but we do have two other ginger and white boys Jerry and Woody who are still on the lookout for their forever homes as well as all our other cats still patiently waiting 🏡🙏

🐰Beautiful update on two of our adopted rabbits from years gone by 🥰

Turnip was adopted in November 2014. Val (our senior rabbit/pony carer) says 'I remember the day that Turnip came into our sanctuary, with two other rabbits. All three rabbits were underweight and riddled with fleas. We kept the three of them separately from one another as they did not get along. Once they were ready for adoption they were bonded with suitable rabbit companions '.

Turnip was originally bonded with the beautiful Tilly. Tilly was Debbie's rabbit, one of our lovely long-term supporters of the sanctuary. Turnip and Tilly had a wonderful relationship. Sadly, Tilly passed away. Debbie contacted us asking if we had any suitable rabbits to befriend Turnip. At the time we had a lovely rabbit named Bella. Turnip and Bella bonded well in May 2020, and remain the best of friends.

Turnip will be 12 years in March, and
Bella will be 8 years in November. Turnip and Bella are thriving and both are healthy, happy bunnies 🐰

We love to hear how our sanctuary rabbits are getting on in their forever homes.

Thank you Deb for the update and beautiful photos 🙂♥️

Ruby update ♥️😻

Beautiful Ruby came into us a week ago as a poorly underweight stray 😢

She has now been to the vets for a full check up including full bloods and an abdominal scan.
Ruby has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism so is now on thyroid medication for this and will need to remain on this for the rest of her life.

This could partly explain why she's so underweight as well as her persistent poorly tummy. Hopefully she will soon start feeling a bit better now she's on this much needed medication and will start to gain some weight soon too, to get her looking and feeling healthier 🙏

We are so grateful to the kind people who were concerned for her and did something to help Ruby instead of just leaving her to continue suffering which sadly is the case for so many strays 🥺

So far we have learned that Ruby absolutely loves her meal times as well as some chin tickles. She is a really sweet girl 💖

It's early days so we will keep you updated on her progress and how she settles with us

Whilst we are happy to be able to help lovely Ruby, she wasn't an expected arrival with us so if anyone can help towards the cost of Ruby's vet bill we would be so so grateful!

If you can spare even just £1, it all adds up and helps so much 🙏🧡

🎉 Exciting News 🎉

We now have a wonderful outdoor rabbit enclosure 🙂🐰
Our rabbits can now enjoy daily time out in the fresh air, safely in the confines of their wonderful secure new outdoor rabbit enclosure🐇🤗

Here are some photos of the building of the new rabbit enclosure and the grand opening of it on 4/8/24.

We had a donation of money in memory of a long-term supporter of our sanctuary Thelma Turner. The money was donated in her memory to use specifically at our sanctuary to improve the welfare of our rabbits. This helped to start the project off 🐇. We invited a member of Thelm's family to come along and confirm the opening of our rabbit enclosure. Samantha, Thelma's granddaughter kindly accepted the invitation and drove all of the way to our sanctuary from Devon! She shared fond memories of Thelma and also her time when she used to help out caring for the animals at the sanctuary with our founders Mr and Mrs D. On this opening day we were also fortunate to have Debbie and Caroline (two long term supporters of Wythall Animal Sanctuary and fellow rabbit enthusiasts), Ade and his family, Christine and Stu.

Thanks to volunteers who laid the base and got funding from ehsmith to build the framework. Thanks to more volunteers joining the project and taking on the challenge and dedicating their time and expertise on a very valuable and worthwhile project. Small donations from many supporters have made a positive impact on the animals' lives. It's amazing what a group of people can do, for the love of animals!

Special thanks to Ade, Christine and Stu for your hard work, dedication and for putting all of this enclosure together free of charge in your own time ❤️

Thank you to EHSmith for donating the framework for this enclosure https://www.ehsmith.co.uk

Our rabbits are thoroughly enjoying their time out in the fresh air and enjoy listening to the natural sounds of nature.

Thank you all ~ real community spirit 🙏 🙌 ❤️

🤍🐎 Appeal for Alfie 🐎 🤍

Can any of our supporters please help towards our resident pony Alfie's recent vet bill? 🙏

Alfie has Equine Cushings Disease, whichhe was diagnosed with back in 2019 . Sadly, he has a breathing condition that is linked to this, that we manage daily with inhalers. Due to the recent heat wave he has needed some extra medication to support his respiratory system and help him to feel more comfortable. He has also recently needed some extra blood tests to check on his Equine Cushings Disease.

If you could help by donating just £1 we would be so grateful 🙏

What a lovely afternoon we had at our rabbit talk yesterday afternoon. We had some lovely visitors😇

🐇Today we focused on rabbits natural behaviours. We talked about this topic and looked at how we, as a sanctuary, take into consideration the behavioural needs of our bunny friends, to help them live their lives as naturally as possible.

✏️We also did some colouring and made rabbit enrichment toys. We spoke about how important it is to care for any pet properly and make sure their specific behavioural needs are met.

🌿Val (the rabbits carer) then introduced our visitors to our rabbits and the children gave each rabbit a homemade toy. The rabbits really enjoyed meeting our visitors, most of our rabbits chose to come over and collect their forage toys.

⚘️Here are some photos of some of our visitors enjoying the company of our rabbits today🐇 ❤️

Thank you for attending 🧡

Update-
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/aDCxcqcmTfbZ5WNR/

New arrival Ruby ♥️

Ruby has come into us as a stray, underweight, riddled in fleas, with possible flea allergy and a bit of a poorly tummy 😥
She is also not chipped and it is unknown yet if she is neutered.

Ruby is currently being fed small meals of bland food little and often to start building her up. She just seems so happy to be safe now with shelter, a full belly and a comfy bed 🥹

She is due to see the vet on Monday for a full health check and bloods.

We don't know anything about this girl but we do know that she will now get the love and care she deserves 🧡

We will keep you all updated on Ruby's story ♥️

🌟SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT🌟

This weeks Saturday Spotlight is focusing on some of our overlooked dogs😔💔

Please, if you are able, give them a chance🙌🏻

If you can’t rehome them, share them for their best chance🤞🏻
