Stryx X Room Art X Birmingham Photography presents the premiere of the Music Postcards from Birmingham.
These beautiful tiny pieces of music are created by Birmingham based pianist ,inspired by photographs of our city by Birmingham Photography, produced by Room Art and presented by Stryx.
Melissa will be performing live music from 4pm. Bar available with beers and cocktails throughout in the lush surroundings of our secret garden .
Prior to this you can join in a free photography workshop and Photowalk in the beautiful Jewellery Quarter starting at 12pm starting at Stryx Cafe.

We’re super looking forward to ‘Newman Made’, a retrospective of the work of the late Brian Newman curated by . Brian Newman was an artist, a poet, a painter, a cabinet maker and the producer of exquisite marquetry and woodwork.
There will be pieces for sale as well as a workshop running on 20th July from 11am - 2pm.

We are really looking forward to our M/others Who Make collaboration with on Tuesday 31st July. There will be a relaxed social gathering with an exhibition tour of Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood at the Mac, which we were lucky enough to catch last week!
Children are welcome but must be booked in advance. Tickets are sold on a pay what you choose basis. Link in bio

We’re currently hosting Alan Harniess’ wonderful photography exhibition here at Stryx JQ! Alan’s thought-provoking series “One Family” depicts love, family, and friends crossing the racial divide. The exhibition is open until 17/07/24 so you have a plenty of time to pop down and check it out!
We’ve signed up to 2024! This event will take place on weekends of 28th/29th September and 5th/6th October across our Minerva Works and Jewellery Quarter Studios. There’s so much great work taking place, this will be a perfect chance for you to catch the artists in their natural environment. Gain insights into their creative processes, share ideas and celebrate all the cohesive Stryx studio community’s achievements.

Next Friday at our Minerva Works gallery we have a selection of 2024 BA Fine Art graduates from Hereford of College Arts sharing their work at Stryx in this collective exhibition. Featuring installation, painting, sculpture and more from Brenda Boyle, Grace Fox, Julia Goldsmith, Häpi and Glüm, Conrad Judge, Ian Pennell and Muriel Potart.
It’s summer and we’re blooming! Our Secret Garden has been a huge hit with visitors since its grand opening, but did you know we’re growing our very own herbs and produce right here at Stryx JQ? We’ve been using fresh mint for our teas and cocktails straight from the garden bed, and we even spotted a few strawberries this week! Drop in Mon-Sat 9am-3pm to witness all of the flourishing
Last week we hosted our local Chinese Community Centre (CCC-B) for an afternoon of life drawing and VR experience! It was amazing to see their creativity flourish throughout the day and helping them investigate our catalogue of digital exhibitions!
It’s Mini Stryx Creative Stay and Play tomorrow! Between 1-2:30 bring your 0-5 year olds to for an immersive Summer play experience. We are always looking for new ways to entertain and engage our young visitors and their parents. So with that in mind, we have just acquired some super shimmery materials, new chalks and bubble solution!

We’ve shared plenty about our range of funky new summer drinks, but this week we’re going back to basics- sometimes you just need a pick-me-up in the form of a warm latte of a hot pot of tea- and we’re here to assist! Who can join?
All kinds of makers, whether professional or passionate, including writers, painters, performers, filmmakers, musicians, technicians, producers, bakers, crafters, taxidermists, academics, and more. Every type of mother/nonbinary parent is welcomed, be it biological, adoptive, step, surrogate, foster, bereaved, grand, great-grand, or soon-to-be. We encourage a diverse range of people to engage in the unfolding MWM conversations, spanning across generations and art forms. Kids are welcome too.
Our Community Cafe here at Stryx JQ has come a long way in the year we’ve been open, and we’re excited to share these snaps for of the space just before opening… compared to a photo taken this week- we’re only getting busier and more exciting as the months pass! Come and see what we’re all about, Monday-Saturday, 9am-3pm!
Now we’re getting into the swing of summer, we’ll be hosting regular evening parties each month so our customers can enjoy the full community experience here at Stryx JQ! You can enjoy a range of cocktails, beers, and wine whilst partaking in fun creative activities or dancing to our programme of live music performances- so keep your eyes peeled for announcements for these events over the coming weeks!
