Well double f**k!
Been working my arse off to get the car ready for POL and it’s about ready to start once I replaced another failed Bosch fuel pump .
POL - cancelled 😞
To top it off I was speaking to a tuner who just happened to ask what clutch is used . 228mm helix 6 paddle I replied .
“You sure that’s upto the torque?”
Seems when car was built the custom flywheel used can only take the smaller clutch unit from an Audi A4 which is flat.
Max load from helix is 480flbs which the motor would sail past that unless its power is reduced which is completely pointless when I’ve built it with the bigger G25.
Helix can only make a custom twin plate to take the output so from excitement to depression in a couple of hours 🤦♂️
God car a f**king heartache once you start pi***ng around with them 🤣🤣
I may just pull the box over the weekend or attack the wine store 🤷🏻♂️
Onto the next part . Out with stock cams and in with Badger5 spec cat cams .
Just got to find all my gauges & mag mounts 😁
It’s been a while but things have moved on a little bit, helped by taking some extra time off Xmas with only plans to work on the car!
The final fit of the new spec turbo etc is pretty much done . Had to re do way more than I thought ,to get clearances for pipework . Not that happy with hot side pipework but it will do until I can get it to the workshop to have it all re made with larger 60-70mm diameter and dump some of the silicon joiners .
Quiet couple of weeks but found time to heat wrap the Manifold , could of done with another couple of ft but that will do .
Started to add the last An10 oil drain
Picked up the coated downpipe from the guys Malvern Cerakote & Powder Coating.
Quick couple of hrs whilst the tennis is on . Finished all bar the main oil drain line , just hope I’ve left enough space for the an10 lower fitting. Should of done that first 🤦♂️
550 & 660 have similar dimensions and outlets .
Just had to do it , my aim was always 500+hp. 350 was fun so this should be unreal 😊😊
Couple of hours this afternoon making up oil / water feeds to the turbo & wastegate . Mac 3 port controller located on bulkhead with a lovely bit of bling holder 😊
Couldn’t help myself , bigger turbo en route 😂
No posts for a while . House moving around took ages and I agreed to do it before I touched the car again. 😢
Anyway started back on it this week . Downpipe on and connected to exhaust .
Turbo intake with new filter sorted .
Hotside out to intercooler done but huge pain in the arse as I never gave it a thought the new setup would sit higher , a lot higher. Shaved mm from everywhere , only just clears the bonnet by 3-4mm .
Oil / water lines & waste-gate next 😁
3 out of 5 can bus units talking to one another . Still need to finish programming how I want the buttons to work but all the basic functions are setup (lights / wipers / indicators etc) . Mega impressed with the Blinkstop wireless steering wheel setup.
Quick release door / bonnet hinges have arrived . Door hinges seem ok but bonnets reflect the cheap price and will probably end up in the draw!
IE fuel rail + adaptors for water / oil lines .
Heat being managed by funk motorsport blankets & wrap .
G25 turbo and manifold in place , just downpipe to add and lines can be made up .
I haven’t posted anything for a while, nothing too post as everything ground to a halt .
Apart from running a family construction company I’m heavily into crypto / mining . Well if anyone else is they know the s**t storm that’s been going on .
If it crashed or went bankrupt you can guarantee I was holding it or on it 😂😂😭
Work has recommended and it should be ready for the dyno next spring .
More to follow for those interested 😊
Nothing like spending a few hrs at Shelsley Walsh to get the motivation juices flowing .
New wiring loom 99% finished and once I corrected the error wiring the Isolater first power up looks good. Both pmu’s are online and talking to the can bus. Keyboard powered up ok and hardwired lights / usb charger all working .
Now to learn how to program everything to talk to one another 😳
Ummm when you don’t touch a project for 3 months and have no idea where all the wires now go cause some t**t didn’t label them or make decent notes 😂😂😭
