Did you know that a forward head posture, like when we’re looking at our phones or hunched over a desk can cause our heads to weight up to 5x more than when we are upright.

This extra weight and its position can lead to headaches, pain in the back and stiffness in our necks and shoulders.

Small corrections to daily habits can help to relieve pain and keep us more mobile.

Massage can help to open up the thoracic cavity and improve hunched shoulders, which in turn can help posture, breathing and reduce stiffness and pain.

With a few days behind me, I can look at these photos proud of what I achieved.
First ultramarathon distance travelled, not nearly enough preparation, but proof that with grit and determination, your body can achieve great things.

I won't be entering another just yet, my feet have got some recovering to do. However, I know what I'd need to do to improve, and the mental aspect of not knowing if I can complete it has been overcome.

Happy New Year to you all! 🎉
The year ahead is an uncertain one for many reasons but I’ve planned some personal fitness challenges to keep me focused and test my resilience.

There’s so much pressure in the New Year to make big changes in order to better ourselves when in fact just small changes of 1% in different areas can add up to a huge cumulative increase in improvement or performance. So don’t let it overwhelm you, start small. Even a small step forward is still a step in the right direction.

Secondly- control the controllable’s. So often we let things affect us that are out of our control- sometimes we are dealt a tough hand - that may be completely out of our control- what we can control is how we react to it and what we do about it.
Whatever the year ahead brings - I’m ready 💪🏻

Ever think you want something, but when you REALLY think about it, it’s all a bit….vague.

You want to ‘lose weight’ or ‘get fitter’ - what does that mean to you?
Without a clear idea of what we actually are trying to achieve we can become demotivated and lose our way before we’ve even started.

Begin by writing down what you think you want - what’s the goal?- then re-read it- you’ll probably find it actually consists of a whole series of smaller goals wrapped in one.

Let me help you identify those goals and make a plan to work towards them- but be prepared for hard work and commitment, it won’t fall at you feet.

I love nothing more than when my daughter asks to come for a run with me. Positive role models are so important for children, especially at the age she is now. Her body is changing, but we emphasise the importance of strength and determination over weight/size. Both her and my son have watched me and their Dad go out and exercise consistently over the last few years and they have both developed a love for different sports and challenging themselves.
Research has shown physically active children have been shown to engage in health promoting behaviours like not smoking, and being exposed to healthy behaviours increases the chance of children following healthy lifestyles themselves later in life.
