Aunty On Tour 🚗
We've just got back from Manchester for the launch event of Future Folk Archetypes at The Portico Library.
The exhibition features new work by our favourite folk artist Lucy Wright, commissioned by The Portico for their Weird As Folk exhibition. Lucy draws on existing folk customs and characters and looks to disregarded and often lost traditions, mostly from urban and northern areas to create these stunning forms. 😍
The exhibition runs until 2nd November, go see it!
Also...We're dead excited to announce that Lucy will also be joining us in Blackpool next month! She will be supporting our next project, working with our groups to create an installation for Lightpool Festival, more on that later but we'll give you 3 guesses what the theme is....
Now... where are our bell pads!?

It's 11 years this weekend since we took our first steps into the world of retail.
We've grown a bit since then, but still hold true to the same mission... To bring local artists, makers and creators to Blackpool's high street.
Now, with over 60 local suppliers, some of whom were with us originally 11 years ago, we think we're doing Charabanc proud.
Get out of the rain, and get crafty this morning at our Summer Craft Club.

Tomorrow at Claremont Park Community Centre 👀
The events we have seen in Blackpool and other towns and cities over the weekend have been heartbreaking. However seeing communities come together in the aftermath; sharing brews, clearing up, caring for each other, gives us lots of hope.
Inspired by our friends Aunty Social *, we are opening the Centre on Wednesday 12pm-2pm, as a safe space to reflect, share and come together. Our community, Our Claremont, is so much more than the violence and darkness we have seen this week.
We'll be providing soup and brews and a safe space to come together. Please do pop in, you will be most welcome.
*Aunty Social is hosting a get-together tonight, 6.15pm at their home on Topping Street, you can sign up to their event through their page.
"In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it."
☀️PLEASE NOTE: We’re now full up for this evening. Drop us an email at [email protected] if you would like to join our mailing list.
Knittaz with Attitude, 6:15pm Monday 5 August
Tomorrow is our monthly get-together. Yesterday’s events have saddened us deeply. We love our town and to see violence on our streets was heartbreaking. We know that others are hurting too, so today we start rebuilding.
To this end, we’re opening up Knittaz as a gentle, respectful space for everyone to reflect, process recent events and connect with and to help restore the friendly environment that Blackpool usually offers.
You don’t need to take part in any craft, you can just come to chat and relax. We’ll provide a vegan meal and soft drinks and there will be no charge.
Of course you can still come and craft. If you’ve already booked/paid for a ticket, we’ll refund you on the night.
If you would like to come along, please complete this short form, so we can make sure we have enough food and offer assistance to anyone who may need help with safe travel.
