As we look back on a successful 2023 for Clean Air, we’d like to thank our clients for once again putting their trust in us to keep their lab staff safe and protected.

One highlight of the year is the scale and professionalism of our projects - Lucideon, Globachem, and The University of Manchester to name just a few. They are technologically advanced and professional, and the fume cupboards and extract systems will do their jobs effectively for many years to come.

We introduced the new Optimax range of fume cupboards in ’23 – just as safe and user-friendly as the APEX model but designed to fit in smaller labs.

We also made our debut at Lab Innovations at the NEC and were overwhelmed with the number of visitors to our stand. The positive feedback not only for our fume cupboards, but for our customer service and our installation and maintenance teams too was fantastic.

We lead the fume cupboard industry in sustainability, and throughout 2023 our investment in developing CFD to eliminate SF6 from our operations came to fruition – in 2024 we will begin to offer net zero testing. We also planted over 650 native species saplings across the UK on behalf of our clients.

We’re excited for 2024, and we hope you’ll join us on our journey.

We’re celebrating another successful year of delivering lab safety and the assurance our advanced fume cupboard extract system designs offer our customers.

The challenging design demands for applications - including universities, schools, pharma, agrochemical, life sciences, petrochemical, and nuclear - have kept us at the top of our game.

2023 saw us go public with the work we have been doing to reduce the fume cupboard industry’s reliance on SF6 for testing. We’ve showcased our alternative method – highly accurate and reproducible, carbon-neutral Computational Fluid Dynamics modelling. We’ve planted almost 900 native saplings in the UK on behalf of our clients.

And we have thoroughly enjoyed every minute!

There's around 26 years between these two Clean Air Fixed Ducted fume cupboards. Some features haven't changed at all, but the current control membrane with airflow alarm is a safety improvement on the original model. However, thanks to solid design and construction, and a great maintenance and cleaning regime, the older unit is still going strong in a school prep room in Buckinghamshire!

Designed for excellent containment for lab safety, and with energy-efficient VAV for sustainability, they were the perfect choice for Globachem nv, the innovative developer of crop protection products for agriculture and horticulture.

We've designed, manufactured, and installed one walk-in and 13 bench-mounted fume cupboards across two buildings for Lucideon, a large, multi-faceted international organisation that offers R&D, and testing and assurance to companies in diverse sectors such as aerospace and ceramics.

Lucideon protects its team and values lab safety. Independent testing has confirmed the High Performance Radius Profile fume cupboard has the highest level of containment currently claimed by any fume cupboard manufacturer. It has a Robustness of Containment Protection Factor (PFR) of >4,500,000 for all widths at 0.5 m/s face velocity.
