Longfleet 2

Another great performance from the boys as we secured our third consecutive win, this time against a structured Longfleet side.

Though we started slow, the team managed to settle after Brandon Mackinlay and John Armour found the net in the first half with assists coming from Mike Buck.

The second half saw the Viper's strikers add to their score tally, with Jack Leatherbarrow and Troy Turner providing the assists for Brandon and Johnny second goals. One of which scored while Southside had 10 men, with Zak Insall being sin binned for 10 minutes. Though he did pick up the Viper London Dry Gin Man Of The Match for a relentless display in midfield.

It is another Sunday morning, that could only mean one Important event today!
Southside Vipers are back in action vs Longfleet.
10:30am kick off over at Ferndown Leisure Center.

Great performance from the team, Andy Cordial opened the scoring with a penalty, after Brandon Mackinlay was brought down in the box. Troy Turner playing in a more advanced midfield role found the top corner with a exceptional shot from outside the box.

Another penalty, another goal as our forwards cause havoc in the opposition box. Brandon made a mark himself with two goals, assisted by our midfield maestros Jack Leatherbarrow and Zak Insall. A sign of things to come this season from our number 7.

Zak Insall hit a thunderous shot into the bottom corner, after providing two assists for Brandon and Troy.

Defensively the team were strong, Mike Quinn providing amazing cover at the back, sweeping up any threat, earning himself the Viper London Dry Gin Man of The Match.

Southside Vipers 3-1 Branksome Liberal Reserves

The Vipers started off brightly dictating a lot of the play and creating many chances. We remained on top going into the second quarter winning a corner early on which saw Jack Leatherbarrow whip in a delightful ball straight onto Dave Penns head for the opener. Unfortunately just before half time we gave a penalty away which saw us going into the half time break at 1-1. Vipers once again started off very positive going into the second half but couldn't convert our many chances until a 30 yard rocket of a free-kick from Liam Vincent caught the keeper off guard and found its way into the bottom corner. We kept the pressure on and found a third late on in the game when Cam Cloggie bent one into the bottom right from the edge of the box which put the game to bed.

Southside Vipers 2-5 Academy Firsts

It was a very slow start from the Vipers in the first half, second to every ball and struggled to deal with the high press from a hungry Academy side resulting in a few costly errors at the back which saw us 4-1 down at half time.

Vipers bounced back well and had some good spells of football but unfortunately we couldn’t capitalise on the many chances we created in the second half against a well organised Academy defence.

Plenty of positives to take from the game to build on for the upcoming season.
