Bournemouth Athletic FC

Last Wednesday saw Athletic’s players & Management Team host the club’s new kit and polo shirt sponsors.

Bournemouth Chamber of Trade & Commerce attended along with New Forest Bacon & East Howe Wash’n’Dry - presenting kit and funding.

It was a great evening & here are some of the results.

Bournemouth athletic are through to a final!!

Absolute great result today from the boys! Hard fought battle against a good muscliff side!

Time to now focus on the rest of the season before a cup final to look forward too!

How’s that for a result against top of the league! They were unbeaten! Well guess what, not anymore!!

Coming into this game on the back of 2 poor defeats, athletic looked for their first win of the season with an away cup tie at Fawcetts field against NMO a team a division up!

Bournemouth athletic completely dominated the first half with lots of good passing and great movement; creating a few chances!

Kieran Murphy came close early on, after beating the keeper to a ball over the top, with the goal covered by two defenders, he just narrowly missed the goal, after trying to place it in the top corner!

Half time: 0-0

2nd half was very much the same as the first, with athletic dominating possession and playing some decent possession football! Unfortunately we just couldn’t seem to complete that ‘final’ ball.

Against the run of play NMO scored, with a long ball over the top, which caught the defenders out, and their striker calmly slotted past the onrushing keeper!

With literally the last kick of the 2nd half, Henry baker found himself with a bit of space 25 yards out! And he absolutely buried it into the bottom corner! Taking the game to penalties!

Unfortunately despite Cameron making a quality save from one spot kick! Athletic ended up losing 4-3 on penalties.

Another encouraging performance from the lads and things are Definately moving in the right direction!

Our next game takes place Sunday 17th September! At Fawcetts Field, New Milton!

Our first cup game of the season! Let’s see if we can get of to a great start!

Athletic’s latest signing is Christchurch FC midfielder, Alex Haynes. Strong and skilful, Haynes is equally adept in central midfield, left of centre or left back.

He has featured mostly in recent years for Christchurch FC development team but joins the ‘tics with first team experience too.

‘Alex has always stood out for me when up against him in the Wyvern League. A good driving force with a cultured left foot. I’m expecting big things from him in an Athletic shirt this season’, said manager McKay.
