About Us:
We are in the process of establishing a new children's home in Bradford, dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people. As we prepare for the home's launch, we are seeking a Responsible Individual to play a pivotal role in overseeing its operations and ensuring its success.
Role Overview:
As the Responsible Individual, your primary responsibility will be to provide oversight, guidance, and mentorship for the registered manager of the children's home. You will also engage in regular check-ins with the directors to ensure compliance with regulations and the highest standard of care.
Key Responsibilities:
Mentoring and Support: Provide guidance and mentorship to the registered manager, helping them navigate the challenges of running a children's home.
Weekly Check-Ins: Conduct weekly check-ins with the directors and registered manager to discuss progress, address concerns, and make strategic decisions.
Supervisions: Conduct supervisions for all senior staff members, offering support, feedback, and ensuring they meet regulatory requirements.
Management Duties: Assist in the overall management of the children's home, ensuring it operates smoothly and complies with all relevant regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must have QCF Level 5 in Leadership and Management in residential childcare
- must have experience in a leadership or responsible role within children's residential care, or a similar setting (at least 2 years)
• Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and relevant regulations.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.

Job Title: Registered Children's Home Manager

We are seeking to recruit a full-time, home manager with excellent leadership skills, and have knowledge and understanding of the Children’s home regulations and care standards and takes a positive and committed approach in developing the team to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people aged 8 – 18 years.
As the Home Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the Children’s Home, in line with Children ’s Homes Regulations including the expectations and standards as set out in the home’s Statement of Purpose and Ofsted promoting the safeguarding of young people’s welfare and ensuring compliance and to participate in the on-call roster in support of the Children’s Home.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
Manage the residential home on a day-to-day basis ensuring it is compliant in meeting all relevant legislative and contractual requirements, including the health and educational needs of young people and liaise with the Responsible Individual with regards to any possible non-compliance.
To hold responsibility as the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) and the person appointed to take lead responsibility for child protection issues in the home.
Liaise with other departments and external agencies, in line with Regulation 5 of the children’s homes regulations to ensure that the young people receive appropriate plans, programs, and support in the home to bridge them into the community and to meet contractual requirements.
Coach, support and develop staff, including supervision, to maximise their performance and ensure high standards of care, values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, legislation and contractual and inspection framework requirements are met.
Ensure full implementation of statutory and organisational policies and procedures and provide feedback on the effectiveness of all policies and procedures.
Assist in budget preparation and manage and control budgets to meet financial parameters.
Interpret and implement changes in legislation relating to occupancy to ensure any enhanced requirements are met.
Identify resourcing needs and the ongoing selection, training, and development of staff to ensure service delivery is optimised and relevant standards are met.
Must develop constructive working relationships within the wider community to promote the overall outcomes for the looked after children.
To complete formal reports at a high standard and meet deadlines.
To complete regular and thorough audits of the home’s paperwork systems, recording and evidencing.
Engender a positive health and safety culture to meet and maintain company and external accreditation standards.
To ensure that adequate staff cover is always maintained and where necessary, cover such deficiencies until proper staffing can be found including management of and participation in emergencies and the on-call Rota for the home.
Where necessary, ensure that all disciplinary and grievance procedures are carried out in line with Company policy and statutory requirements.
To supervise the work of the staff team and delegate tasks as appropriate.
To manage the appropriate maintenance of records and personal information in line with the Data Protection Act and to the standards required by Information Governance.
To lead by example and develop effective teams within the home.
Responsible for the maintenance and physical assets located at the home.
Essential Skills and knowledge:
Must have QCF level 5 in leadership and managment in residential childcare or working towards.
Must have QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce
Substantial managerial experience within a similar environment (at least 2 years supervisory in care setting)
3 years residential care experience
Must have a commitment to professional development and expand skills, knowledge, and qualification.
Strong knowledge of the Children’s Act 1989, Children and Families Act 2014, Care Standards Act 2000, Children’s Act 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, Health and Safety at work and associated guidance and regulation.
Must produce a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Must have evidence-based knowledge of Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 reporting.
Must have knowledge of child development and understanding of the needs of children and young people.
Must be able to demonstrate the management and monitoring of budgets and auditing.
Ability to deal effectively in a crisis or emergency.
Must have /be aware of behaviour management skills.
Must have the ability to work under pressure whilst recognising it in self and others.
Able to manage stress and difficult dynamics and demonstrate emotional resilience.
Ability to prioritise, manage workload and delegate appropriately.
Can demonstrate good leadership and decision-making skills.
Promote equality and value diversity by interpreting equality, diversity, and rights in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures and relevant standards.
Experience of implementing health and safety policies and procedures
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and IT literacy
