🍃Join Debs for Yin Yoga 10.45am on Fridays 🍃
Debs is loved by our students at Heather Yoga for her breadth of knowledge and practices that she shares. Yoga’s influence on her physical, emotional and mental well-being has been life changing and she is passionate about creating opportunities for others to experience the benefits yoga can bring.
The Yin Yoga practice incorporates meditation and breathing techniques with postures to target muscles, organs and meridians (energy channels in the body) restoring stability with our emotions and mental health. It is a slow-paced style of yoga as exercise, incorporating principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time.
As a passive practice, Yin Yoga involves variations of seated and supine (lying down) poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia (connective tissue). The class focuses on particular energy channels and corresponding organs in line with each season; class content changes with the seasons promoting and maintaining good health of your mind and body.

This workshop is designed for anybody interested in how to manage living with trauma either for themselves or to gain a better understanding to support a loved one.
Opening with a discussion about what trauma is and how it affects us from a neuroscientific perspective, we will explore some yoga / somatic techniques to come back into our own experience, our body. These techniques can help with processing trauma and / or regulating our nervous system.
The physical aspect of this workshop will be very gentle and accessible, no previous yoga experience needed. We will have time at the end to do some journaling.
Open Level, not suitable for pregnant ladies due to some of the techniques used.

If you’ve been attending Yoga classes you will have probably heard your teacher talking a lot about the breath! Breathing techniques, or Pranayama as they are known in Yoga, play a key role in this ancient practice and are often the foundation or starting point of any movement. In a regular Yoga class setting, the dedicated breathing aspect of the practice is often very short as the focus tends to be on getting the body moving. So unless you are practising breathing techniques at home or within other specific classes you might not be accessing the full benefits of this powerful aspect of Yoga.
This September we have a dedicated 6 week course, designed to teach you how to tap into & utilise your breath so it can support your capacity of physical, mental & emotional wellbeing. There are so many benefits that breathwork can bring not only to your Yoga but to your day to day life too. It can help improve & sustain better focus & concentration whilst allowing you to decompress from stress and become more mindful through challenging situations.

Ella Tighe is a Bradford based dancer and yoga teacher. As a dancer, Ella makes & performs her own works which she has performed in the UK and internationally. She definitely brings that vibrant energy into her classes.
This Sunday morning level 2 Vinyasa class is a dynamic class for those who wish to progress in their physical practice or who are experienced practitioners. Class is centred around a flow that incorporates strength drills, flexibility and mobility work as well as inversion work (arm balances, headstands, handstands). Each complex pose is broken down where needed, to ensure students can explore the foundations and practice at a pace which suits where they are currently at (you do not already have to be able to do a headstand, handstand etc). Modifications are offered and this class is the space to try something more challenging than what you might be used to in other classes.
