The blue light that comes from screens can keep you awake, making it difficult to “switch off” your brain and ultimately making it more difficult to fall asleep.

This is your reminder to put your phone down, turn your laptop off for half an hour, and spend some time outside. Honestly, your brain will thank you for it.

Our main expertise and experience at Clarity& is in airline and airport ground operations, and specifically in ground handling itself. This is an area in which Andy and the Clarity& team have several decades of experience each, often having worked “on both sides of the table” when it comes to airline, airport and supplier business and operations.

We have all personally carried out many of the roles in ground handling from check-in and aircraft cleaning right up to Board level roles for such companies. This enables us to work more effectively and deliver results more quickly when engaging with the wider community, being subject matter experts on all things related to ground operations, and focussing primarily on our core expertise at all times.

Like many middle-aged, professional, married couples outwardly we appeared to the world by all accounts to be succeeding in life. We live in the vibrant city of Brighton & Hove on the English south coast surrounded by the rolling hills of the South Downs in a house that we’ve entirely renovated to meet the needs of our small-but-perfectly-formed family of 3.

Kirsty a senior clinical dietitian had done her stint commuting up to the big smoke and returned to support the local hospital dietetics team.

Andy, an aviation consultant was rarely based in the UK with projects taking him to the Middle East, USA and Europe often for weeks at a time.

Although well-compensated financially, the lack of family time led to compensatory behaviours such as exotic foreign holidays, busy weekends with regular meals out to celebrate Daddy being home and additional gifts or treats for our daughter along the way.

There is more of our journey to come in future posts, we hope you'll stay with us for the ride!

Hi, I’m Andy, and I’m hugely passionate about mental health and wellbeing. For the record, that is absolutely not something I would ever have said just a few short years ago. In fact, at first, neither Kirsty nor I could really accept depression and anxiety as a diagnosis. Both are often still stigmatised in the UK, along with other mental health conditions. Our generation, and others, have used the “stiff upper lip” approach to all things mental health-related. I certainly used to.

The path to recovery has been challenging but hugely enlightening, and genuinely beneficial to quite literally every aspect of our lives. This combined lived and professional experience enables me to work with individuals and organisations to identify and implement more effective, sustainable ways of working with your most important asset; your people.

I recall getting stuck following a group of tourists around the national history museum with my daughter some years ago. They were so absorbed in capturing everything on their iPhones I noticed they weren’t looking directly at anything. Not having any kind of direct experience… of awe, of feeling thrilled or intrigued or astounded by the curiosities on display.

How sad I thought to myself.

So focused were they on projecting themselves into a future ‘sharing my travels’ moment with a friend or family member. One which in all likelihood won’t even happen. They’ve given up the sense of enjoyment for an imagined future moment to relive it, ultimately they never live that moment at all.

So however you chose to spend your Easter 🐣 Weekend I’d urge you all to ‘pay attention to your attention’ to really experience every moment.

YOUR PERCEPTION OF YOUR CAPABILITIES IS WHAT FRAMES YOUR REALITY.

Actively working on your mindset to create a more positive & optimistic outlook really can give you a competitive edge at work.

Having taken time out to evaluate my positive attributes & strengths, developed a list of daily self-care non-negotiables and written some meaningful goals for the year ahead I have felt the shift towards a more positive outlook.

I am better able to spot ‘automatic negative thought’ patterns, I now try to look for the ‘silver lining’ in situations and I practice daily gratitude. Tiny shifts in outlook perhaps but collectively very powerful.
