To teaching my first ever class of wonderful people. The nerves, the empowerment, the warriors... the love 💛
This teaching gig is a real roller coaster ride 🎢. I've learned so much about myself since I started this journey. Some days I feel proud of how far I've come, other days, imposter syndrome hits hard and I have to remind myself why I chose this path.
One thing's for sure, pushing yourself out of that tempting, snuggly comfort zone is a fast track to growth. Keep exploring, keep learning, dip a toe in the water and choose to dive in despite the fear. Be so so kind to yourself along the way (the hardest part). And most importantly - Find a community that makes you feel like YOU. One that bigs you up no matter whether you're on a high or on a low. Those are your people 👑 ❤️🫧

Hi 👋 I'm Kaya and I have tight hamstrings 🙋🏻♀️. -Oh! And I'm a yoga teacher.
In a social media bubble where perfect linear bodies in expensive attire and one-armed handstands seem to be the holy grail.... can we change the narative a little to make it more inclusive? Let's practice yoga not just for the physical progress (which I dont devalue at all... handstands coming soon!) But also for peace, for curiosity, for play, for movement, for self enquiry, for its roots and its future, and above all for J O Y. Let's practice whatever our bodies look like, in whatever we're wearing, waterfall background entirely optional!
I've always struggled with comparing myself to others. To put myself 'out there' on social media is no small feat... but here I am, tight hamstrings and no handstands. Does that make me a bad yoga teacher? HELL No. Do I sometimes feel imposter syndrome? Absolutely. But then I get on my mat and I move MY way, I tap my body and swing my arms and fall out of poses and breathe and smile. No, it doesn't always look polished and graceful. Why should it? It's a practice! But I remember why I'm here, doing what I'm doing.. and it's valid and brilliant and beautiful. 🌙
