Brighton castle juniors with WPBSA coach Kai Michael
U18 snooker & pool group
Week 21/21:
Today was the final weekend of the current handicap league. With first and second place decided, there was much left to play for other than who would finish third. Isaac, Toby & Thomas all had a shout of taking the position.
A warm welcome to Bertie and Stanley who have attended a session a while back but dropped in today for the session. Stanley really impressing and even managed to cause an upset in his tie against Raffertie, who needed a 2-0 win to take fourth spot.

Summer camp day 3 โ๏ธ๐๐ฅ๐ต๐ฑ
On Monday, we held a very special session and a landmark from the club as we would be joined by our new friends all the way from Poland Snookerowy.
We would welcome polish coach Przemek plus his 7 juniors - Stefan, Szymon, Janek, Jurek, Axel, Wojtek ๐
For the first half of the day we are played a doubles snooker competition 1 junior from each club would pair up together for the competition a great opportunity for junior to get to know each other.
Just before lunch we introduced speed pool to the Snookerowy to which was a massive hit. This is such a fantastic game as Iโm sure they would all agree.
After lunch, we played a straight knockout pool competition with some incredible matches being played. We ended the day with a brilliantly fun game of killer with plenty of laughs throughout Szymon the stand-out playing only missing 1 shot during the round and ending of 5 lives ๐๐ป

Congratulations Mathew Jameson handicap junior league champion 2024 ๐
With just 2 Saturdays left of the current league leader Mathew needed just to attend the session today and earn his 1 point for attending to be crown champion so when he arrived through the door this morning we had a delighted Mathew ๐
Congratulations also to Tallulah Michael, who secured second place in the league table. Tallulah is current our only female player coming up against some very talent young men, so I canโt praise her enough for what can only be classed as a wonderful achievement ๐๐ป
Juniors Isaac and Toby now fight it out for third place in the last weekend of the junior league which will now take place on Saturday 17th August.

When the junior set up began 5 years ago, there were two targets, I really hoped one day we could achieve a junior making a century break and also a junior being selected for England.
Adam Abass pictured with myself this year has achieved both the following, earning his first England call up earlier in the year, followed by his first century break of 106.
I've presented Adam with a special trophy as the junior clubs first centurion.
Well done Adam, keep up the excellent work and you will achieve great things.
Summer club kick-started today for the first session of the holidays ๐
A really great and enjoyable session this morning to kick-start things off we played a doubles snooker competition which was a lot of fun partners were drawn at random and the handicaps awarded.
Adam and Gus would see a first round defeat to Mathew and Isaac, while raffertie and Thomas would breeze past Toby and Alex, setting up a final between my self (Kai) and Tommy.
Before lunch, we had a group game of speed pool with a few new exciting twists along the way.
After lunch, a pool straight knock out competition took place and finishing the day with a group game of killer.
Well done to all juniors involved today, it was a great session ๐๐ป
Special mentionโFor Adam Abass who made his first practice 147 today. During the half-term club juniors like to have a go at the line-up on the 9ball pool tables with snooker balls, not only is this really fun, but it allows all to make a higher break then they would usually get on a snooker table, nevertheless is great for their confidence. My included along with Adam and some others have been trying to make a 147 during the session weโve got close numerous times, but today Adam managed to crack it ๐๐ป
Thanks all, Kai.

Week 19/21:
The end is in sight ๐
Just 3 weeks remain in the junior handicap league and only 5 juniors mathematically able to win the league. Mathew Talluah Isaac Toby Thomas, any points dropped today could hear their title bids over.
Some cracking matches were drawn out today, and Talluah tough draws kept coming. Not only has she drawn 5 of her last 5 matches, her previous two toes have been against league leader Mathew and today third place Isaac really tough going.
The tie of the day would be played between second place Talluah and third place Isaac on which could be a big swing in the challenge for the title if either could get the 2-0 win a draw wouldnโt change too much apart from helping Toby Walker if he could his self secure a 2-0 victory in his match versus Thomas.
Star of the day โญ๏ธ Tallulah
Thanks, Kai.

Updated league tables:
Huge well done Taylor Jones who was last months player of the month for June ๐๐ป
Some great photos from last weeks u21 open taken by Mathew Jameson.
Week 18/21 :
Just 3 weeks now remain of the current handicap league and today there would be some mayor twists in the league table with some results ๐ฒ
With the league edging ever closer to the end, league leader Mathew was looking for just 3 more wins to earn him his second consecutive league title which second place and just 2 points behind Tallulah was still fighting for the chance to be crowned champion. Isaac and Toby both knew they had a good chance of making a real stamp in a title charge as results could go their way.
As every week, a randomized draw is made for league ties and in an incredible turn of events, Mathew first place would draw tallualh second place!
This was much to the delight of third and fourth spot Isaac and Toby, but could they make some ground as either was to slip up!
The session would eventually end with some crazy matches being played, numerous black ball finishes and on paper favorites being beat.

๐2024 castle u21 open report
Well, what can I say, 5 years of this competition, and it seems to get better every time, some of the snooker played yesterday was out of this world and wouldnโt look out of place on the TV screen.
A huge well done to all 32 players, for the first time we saw a real mix in standard from newcomers to juniors looking for match experience and then the absolute top juniors looking for the prize money and title.
It was nice to welcome some new faces along in Zac Cosker, Aidan Murphy and the English u14 champion Nicolas Ayres all lads massively impressed having good runs on the day. Nicolas narrowly losing out in the semis to the eventual winner.
The final would see Shaun Liu reach the final for the second year running and face coulsdon Evan Plummer.
